Congrats to the Lady Pioneers. I figured this game would be closer than the last two meetings, and it was, for three quarters. With some shoddy reffing the 'Neers (as they call themselves) came out victorious. Christina Cook, Sarah Tomlin, and MacKenzie Hester stepped up big to help the team pull it out. Abby's shot was off and she became frustrated it seemed. Rachel Cox got into foul trouble quick, and never mentally bounced back. This team has all the tools it needs to make a long run into the post-season. They need to make sure they play as a team, otherwise the rest of the 8th is nipping at their heels for a chance to knock them off.

Terrible officiating crew for a district championship. They shouldn't be allowed to do middle school games much less a district championship.

I agree with you, headedforhome, they weren't very good at all. It stinks that this is what they gave to the championship game. Hopefully they don't get big games in the regional tournament. I think they missed some pretty big calls on both sides.

This game was not as close as the score because the fouls were 2: 1 against SK.

Simon Kenton 59, Walton-Verona 46, 32nd District final: Simon Kenton won its 14th straight game and captured another District title at Walton-Verona. The Pioneers were led by senior guard Christina Cook’s team-high 15 points. Cook was also named the tournament’s Most Valuable Player.

 

Walton-Verona sophomore forward Hailey Ison had a game-high 16 points.

 

It’s the second consecutive District title for the Pioneers.

This game was not as close as the score because the fouls were 2: 1 against SK.

 

That's cause SK is a physical defense and they fouled a lot.

SK is a very physical team and they get up and guard you. They use alot of hands. Officiating was terrible both ways and I bet that the foul count was not that much off from one to the other from a total foul count.

Key swing in the game was toward the end of the 3rd quarter SK was up by 6 and WV had the ball. WV turnover leads to SK fastebreak. SK misses layup but gets the rebound is fouled and makes both free throws with .6 left of clock. SK gets ball at start of 4th and WV goes down by 10.
