  2. EVANSVILLE, Ind. - The University of Evansville men's soccer team battled Missouri Valley Conference rival Bradley to a 2-2 at Arad McCutchan Stadium Wednesday night. 3. Evansville opens league play with a tough loss on the road. University of Evansville - UE Men's Soccer drops a tight one at Missouri State SPRINGFIELD, Mo. - Despite several great scoring opportunities, the University of Evansville men's soccer team could not find the back of the net, as the Aces fell in their Missouri Valley Conference opener to Missouri State, 1-0, in Springfield, Missouri Saturday night. UE drops to 5-3-0 on the season, while Missouri State climbs to 5-2-1. The Bears are now 2-0 in MVC play. "Tonight's match was a typical Valley game" said Aces head coach Marshall Ray. "It was a good game to be involved in, both teams were battling and competing for a result in conference. Unfortunately, we gave up a goal early in the second half. Came out a little flat, possibly, but credit to Missouri State. Once you go down a goal on Missouri State, it's difficult to get one back. We created a lot of chances late, kept pushing and kept fighting, but we've got to correct the issue of giving up a goal and going a goal down if we want to do the things we want to do in this conference." After a scoreless first half, which saw them find the crossbar on several occasions, the Bears finally broke through, as sophomore midfielder set up junior forward Conor Ingram for his team leading fifth goal of the season, beating UE sophomore goalkeeper Fredrik Reimer for the eventual game-winner. Ingram's tally was the difference in a game that saw the two squads nearly match each other in every statistical category, with Missouri State holding a six to five advantage in shots on goal and both keepers logging five saves apiece. "Defensively, I thought we played great", said Ray. "All of our outside backs were injured. Two were unavailable, one was able to play a little bit, but Fil (Johansson) probably wasn't 100 percent, so we had to change some things up a little bit with the way we played. I thought the guys adapted well, were able to create opportunities and limit the opportunities that Missouri State had. Unfortunately, tonight, we were unable to get a goal. Freddy was good in goal, got his hand close to the goal that hit the post, but unfortunately, he couldn't keep it out. So that's soccer and we're going to try get ourselves back home to Evansville and rest on Sunday and get back to work Monday and get prepared for another tough battle." The Aces are back at home Wednesday night for another conference showdown with Bradley. Kickoff between the Aces and the Braves is at 7 pm (CT) at Arad McCutchan Stadium.
  4. Agree with your comments about "true representation". I think if you look at the logic behind the Maher Rankings, you will see that SOS is taken into account.
  5. This has to be considered a nice win for the Cru, heard that Calvary pulled down some players that are Varsity starters.
  6. In soccer, the goals, and the penalty box are uniform.
  7. I don't believe anyone said it was a big deal, or accused you of intentionally posting wrong info, just asked if you were sure. It's pretty clear that you were not the only person who thought their record was 10-0. I also don't see a problem with trying to clarify what their record actually was.
  8. They were not 10-0 before playing Cov Cath, I believe they had a couple of ties. Maybe 10-2-0, when they played the Blue Colonels.

  10. Thanks for your comments @Just Jim. All this time, I took you for a soccer aficionado. Yes, so far this has been a blast... made for some long weekends but I would have to say... definitely worth it.
  11. Aces get a needed win. University of Evansville - ACES INSTANT REPLAY POSTGAME REPORT - UE Men's soccer shuts out Eastern illinois
  12. I heard that Grass does not make the away matches, doesn't travel well.
  13. Highlands lost some quality players from last season.
  14. The coming weeks might provide a better indication of how strong they actually are. It looks like the teams they have played have about 15 wins between them and several of them are actually against each other. Not the toughest of schedule so far, the Maher Rankings lists their schedule as one of the weakest in the state.
  15. Was this the all-important, district seeding match?
  16. OG... Their sports information department does a great job of reporting on their matches. University of Evansville - ACES INSTANT REPLAY - Anderson vs. Evansville Men's Soccer
  17. Yep, I heard it was moved so they did not mess up Cooper's field... :lol2:
  18. Sorry VOR, was not meaning to direct my question at you... realize you were just commenting.
  19. @oldgrappler - Nowadays, I feel that I am getting my just reward. The home matches I get to watch now are being played on a grass surface that is better than some greens that I have putted on.
  20. That's no way to be.... c'mon, let it out, you'll feel better afterwards.
  21. A nice road win for the Aces. Lone goal came from Ian McGrath at the 39 minute mark, caught the goalie cheating out and struck the ball from the midfield line. See Sports Center Top 10.
  22. @swamprat I was going with a big (quantity) win, which I realize is not the same as a big (quality) win. I am well aware of who they were playing, the size of the school, and the particulars that led to them ending up on the Aces schedule. I guess my circumstances caused me to get overly excited about this match, I will work to exude my excitement at a more appropriate time.... no promises though. :thumb:
