I am not OK with a Middle School kid playing for a HS that they do not plan on attending the following year, this just doesn't not seem right to me. Maybe the academia world actually has it figured out... - Many schools offer HS level classes to 7th and 8th graders. - Most schools allow HS students to take college level classes. - There is also the possibility of skipping MS all together.

In my opinion, this is a perfect example of why a younger player should not have to wait his turn. He definitely performed well enough as an 8th grader to warrant a spot on the Varsity team. I would also argue that being able to play Varsity for 5 seasons helped his overall development much more than if he would have been made to play on a middle school team as an 8th grader.

How can this be true!?!?!?!? He must live there, he frequents the Skyline.

If this is true, I received some bad info about where he played his 8th grade year. I take it that you feel he should have been playing on the 8th grade team at Villa that year, possibly the Freshman team if they needed middle school kids to make a team.

Were these your same thoughts when CVH first suited up for Cov Cath?

If a kid is younger than most and good enough to play... why does he need to wait his turn?

When I saw Cooper at BG games, they moved the ball around pretty well and were consistently playing out of the back. I felt they struggled to get into the final third and gave up the ball to easily when they tried to push forward.

I always find it interesting that the Freshman you could see playing against Seniors this year in a Varsity match are those same players that could not compete against each other last season, as 8th graders and Juniors, in a JV match.

Is the bolded an actual rule, or just your understanding? If it is actually a rule than it would apply to both team A and B.

I just skimmed through the thread so I am not sure if anyone has mentioned this.... The rule does not allow for any Juniors (for either team) to be on the field when there are middle school players participating.

I am not sure the bolded is is the case, there are other schools listed as not filing a roster with KHSAA yet.

I agree with you. Who's to say they aren't pushing themselves? It is also a little different since not every school takes the same approach when putting together their squads for the BGSG matches.

I believe that Ryle typically splits into two pretty evenly matched Varsity squads and also uses the weekend as part of their tryout process.

We are actually staying in downtown Sioux Falls, the complex is just south of the city, I believe it is called Yankton Trail Park. Some have talked about driving to see the President's, it would make for a very long day trip. I would be more apt to visit Captain Lou, we'll be about an hour north of Vermillion. I won't speak of the trip to aforementioned son, he already thinks he is a pool player. I keep trying to convince him that they do not make left handed pool sticks.

I saw your posts about your other stops you made, we did the same thing when we were there years ago. We also ventured across the road to the Speedway after visiting SKC's complex that year. Our matches are actually this weekend, SD is one of the few states I have not visited, I've heard that where we are going is really pretty... we will see.

Sorry the results were not favorable Mex, as you know, it is not always about the points you earn. I am glad that you guys made the most of this experience by taking in a couple other events on your trip there. The places you visited, and the memories you made, will long out live the results they had on the field over the weekend.
