  1. Ha, he really is (give or take half an inch with shoes) :thumb:. How tall do you think he is?
  2. I'm in. Was hooked when I won my first try last Sunday. I've lost since then :madman: But don't worry, I'm gonna win it back big tonight!
  3. That's Ben Heppler from last year. His younger brother Will is a legit 6'6. Bo is also a legit 6'6 and can elevate quickly.
  4. I would say about 6'6 and 1/2 and 235. Kid is a force.
  5. Ha, THAT is funny. We'll have to discuss in another thread.
  6. If its not black and white then I can literally do anything I want and justify it by saying in my terms of morality its okay. Also consider this: Why is it that both Christians and atheists, liberals and conservatives, males and females, literally any pair of opposite groups, would agree that Hitler committing genocide was wrong? There has to be some standard morality, or behavior code, and social etiquette (whatever one wants to call it) that everyone in every society, country and time in history knows.
  7. True. The only way I actually know about this site is because my brother used to be a regular when he was in school. He's now off the site so I try to compensate. Maybe I'm not the youngest member, but I bet I'm the youngest member to post in the Religion/CI forums more than the sports ones. :ylsuper:
  8. I'm probably one of the, if not the, youngest members on the site. I fear if I reveal my age some members will decipher who I am. :thumb:
  9. Politically: I agree with most its probably better to have no statues of any beliefs. Being that there is a Christian one, politically it would make sense for an anti-Christian statue to be there as well. Religiously: Absolutely no place for this at all. I don't think there needs to be an explanation. This story exposes some of the problems/roots of problems with our society. 1st people let their political views shift their religious views - which is absolutely absurd. Religion is infinitely more important than politics, and always will be. To let some superficial figurehead have any affect on your view of life is crazy. Stick to your morals and do whats right. 2nd everything has to be politically correct. Everybody has to be equal and one group/person cannot have more than another. Competition is a good thing and it drives society. For Christians, we must realize that we (people on Earth) make up the Church. The Church is like a body. A body is made up of different limbs, organs, etc. Some play bigger roles than others (heart is more important than tonsils). So the point is we don't have to be so darn politically "correct" all the time. Off the soapbox and back to the topic.
  10. Raleigh Seminarian with terminal brain cancer responds to Brittany Maynard | Diocese of Raleigh Another good article.
  11. Seriously, this is at least the second female-teacher and male-student sex case to come out in the last few weeks. If a male teacher had sex with a female student, the maximum sentence would not be 4 years (like this case). I could get off topic with a take on "gender equality" but it would be exactly that, off topic. For another time.
  12. It depends on how one labels a "Christian" or "Muslim," but (I'm just playing devil's advocate, I don't consider him a Christian) but wasn't Hitler a Christian? There needs to be something done about the terrorist attacks. Expelling a whole group of people is not the answer. I am not smart enough to know the answer. But why punish all for the actions of few?
  13. Because all Muslims are terrorists and all Christians are not.
  14. I've been off BGP for a few days, but I can't believe there's no mention of the receivers playing keep-away with the record setting ball. Hilarious .
  15. Coach Ruthsatz scheduled teams like Trinity and Moeller, so when the scheduler was making the schedule Scott said "Get me a win" just to be safe.
  16. Right and wrong are not subjective. Let's say her decision (A) is more 'right' than a decision (B) for someone else. The only way you can measure the "rightness" of these decisions would be to compare them to something else, to some standard of choices [what I call morality].
  17. This video sums up Ebola to me. Shepard Smith: 'Do Not Listen To The Hysterical Voices' In The Media About Ebola
  18. I guess she does have the right to choose. But wouldn't you agree she is making the wrong choice (objectively)? Brittany is being selfish. She is saying "my suffering is not worth spending time with loved ones whom I may never see again," while Lauren is saying "all these people around me care for me and love me, so I am going to be as happy as possible so that they are too." And what if by some miracle she survived? We'll never know because she chose not to even give it a chance.
  19. Kyle Beck is not playing basketball. Zieglemeyer will get minutes, most likely as the 6th man. Coop CVH Shumate Romes Schuh Heppler, Flood, Ziegelmeyer, will get some minutes and contribute. CVH, and Bo obviously will carry the load night in and night out, with CVH carrying the heavier part. Now that Bo has 70 varsity games under his belt I look for him to be more consistent. Cooper Theobald will surprise some people if he can get his confidence up. He has been going against Nick R for 2 years so he should be ready. Shumate will hit 3's and will have to improve defensively to stay on the floor. I think the rest of the guys can pick up for him. X factor? Romes. Everyone else will be relatively consistent. If Romes can keep other big guys off the boards and get 6-8 garbage points a game, this team should be alright. He needs to be the guy to do the dirty work. Blue collar stuff - screens, boards, and alter shots (blocks or charges). Also needs to stay out of foul trouble. I'm excited to see how these guys play without Nick R. Will be very interesting to see who runs the show. To see who is going to make sure their team is gonna play well every game. To see who is going to want it the most. Its obvious that Nick's whole game is irreplaceable - but maybe they can fill bits and pieces of what he brought to the table. I think Heppler will be missed as well. I hope they prove me wrong but I'm not sure if Shumate or Flood can hit big time shots. Only reason this team doesn't get to Rupp is NCC. Good luck to the Colonels and remember: "Why not us?"
  20. @Covcathhoops @scottruthsatz They are on twitter.
  21. No need to stop in this thread, I enjoy it. In fact, based on the first paragraph I think you and I are in full agreement. Since the Church has no problem with the traditional Mass, there is no way I could. In fact, I've been to it more than once and it is a neat thing to experience. I guess the only disagreement we have is in most of the second paragraph, which is relatively difficult for me to comment on. I am much too young to be able to discuss the pre-Vatican II and post-Vatican II Church because I was not alive. However, I trust that the Holy Spirit empowers the leaders of the Church to make their decisions and always has and that papal infallibility is a very real thing. JMO.
  22. One last game - Local 12 WKRC-TV Cincinnati - Top Stories Despite all of the above discussion, I think this is the most appropriate way to live when you are given a timeline.
  23. Story has been picked up by nba.com, Sports Illustrated, Bleacher Report, just to name a few... Stories like these really give me a new look on living life. The menial things we allow to upset us are just that, menial. A parking ticket, failed exam, disappointment from a boss... Just imagine if a doctor gave you a timeline... Just an awesome, awesome story.
  24. I was not familiar with all this and tried to do a little research... You are correct about the lift of excommunication, but according to the latest activities of the Pontifical Commission Ecclesia Dei ( Pontifical Commission Ecclesia Dei - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia ), the Society of St Pius X is still not canonical. This would confirm that they are still schismatic. As for the sacramental validity, I'll share with you what I found. From http://www.ewtn.com/library/liturgy/zlitur366.htm : FWIW, as I'm sure you know people can only be baptized once, so I would have to assume that the Sacrament of Baptism is valid since anyone (even you and me) in emergency situations can baptize.
