As Reigning State Champs, Covington Catholic Heads Back to the Court | The River City News

The last two years they've done scrimmages with Cincinnati Turpin and Western Hills but its generally not been very much attended since they sometimes have to travel up 275. Not sure what they've done this year.

It is just 1 solid color. There is a shelf sticking out just below the numbers on the jersey, so the bottom half is sticking out creating the shadow effect. I think I would dislike a two-shade design as well.

Saw a picture of the new CCH uniforms today... Good stuff.

Should be a very good team. I know McDaniels leaving will hurt them, but I remember they return a few (maybe more than a few) players including Trey Farmer.

Maybe I'm not as tall as I think then cause I'd give him 6'2 and 1/2, and 6'3 with shoes. This is not a constructive discussion. So does everyone think CCH has a legit shot at getting back to Rupp?

That's Ben Heppler from last year. His younger brother Will is a legit 6'6. Bo is also a legit 6'6 and can elevate quickly.

I would say about 6'6 and 1/2 and 235. Kid is a force.

Coach Ruthsatz scheduled teams like Trinity and Moeller, so when the scheduler was making the schedule Scott said "Get me a win" just to be safe.

Kyle Beck is not playing basketball. Zieglemeyer will get minutes, most likely as the 6th man. Coop CVH Shumate Romes Schuh Heppler, Flood, Ziegelmeyer, will get some minutes and contribute. CVH, and Bo obviously will carry the load night in and night out, with CVH carrying the heavier part. Now that Bo has 70 varsity games under his belt I look for him to be more consistent. Cooper Theobald will surprise some people if he can get his confidence up. He has been going against Nick R for 2 years so he should be ready. Shumate will hit 3's and will have to improve defensively to stay on the floor. I think the rest of the guys can pick up for him. X factor? Romes. Everyone else will be relatively consistent. If Romes can keep other big guys off the boards and get 6-8 garbage points a game, this team should be alright. He needs to be the guy to do the dirty work. Blue collar stuff - screens, boards, and alter shots (blocks or charges). Also needs to stay out of foul trouble. I'm excited to see how these guys play without Nick R. Will be very interesting to see who runs the show. To see who is going to make sure their team is gonna play well every game. To see who is going to want it the most. Its obvious that Nick's whole game is irreplaceable - but maybe they can fill bits and pieces of what he brought to the table. I think Heppler will be missed as well. I hope they prove me wrong but I'm not sure if Shumate or Flood can hit big time shots. Only reason this team doesn't get to Rupp is NCC. Good luck to the Colonels and remember: "Why not us?"

1. Beetle 2. McDonald 3a VonHandorf 3b. Pangallo 5. Weyer 6. Schuh 7. Snapp 8. Stanley 9+ The rest. I would agree with mostly everybody Beetle is 1 and McDonald 2. IMO CVH and Pangallo are neck and neck and both of their teams will go as they go this year. Weyer will surprise some people this winter. I've watched and played with him and he's improved big time. If playoff Bo Schuh shows up the whole season, then look out. But as of now he needs to be more consistent - I trust he will be come mid January. Snapp is a very good high school player and has a big load to carry but I assume will do well. I put the space because I think there is a gap after that top 7. I think Stanley is the next best but isn't capable of leading Boone to generate any buzz next year. 1. NCC 2. CCH 3. Covington Holmes 4. Dixie 5. Cooper 6+ The rest 1-3 should be obvious... Dixie doesn't have any superstars but their team has some experience now and hopefully will have more opportunities with BH gone. They may have it in them to play close with the top 3. Cooper is similar in the no superstars aspect, but it would shock me to see them compete with all of the first 3. If the rules are the same as last year, practice starts tomorrow(?). Anyhow, good luck to the 9th region and rest of Kentucky Basketball. Looking forward to being able to watch a few games this year and bring that trophy back to NKY!

Well, I'm disappointed... Not at Covcath, but at myself for believe if this was actually "the year." Congrats to Highlands, they manhandled us on both sides of the ball. Good luck to both teams the rest of the way out.

Bengals Announce $200,000 Grant to Covington Catholic HS for New Athletic Field

For the posters who are disappointed with CovCath: I have a relative who lives in a 3 bedroom apartment in one of the most expensive parts of the country, she does not work anymore, and she lives 100% off of Social Security checks on the 1st of the month, and she gets an aid to stay with her almost half the day, and all of her medical expenses are on Medicaid. My family, with lots of sacrifices and hard work, would have the resources to take her in and live with us in cheaper NKY, take shifts in working as an aid, and could put her on an insurance plan out of pocket. Now, is she in the wrong for applying then accepting a third party (government)'s aid and stay where she is? Its not illegal, and there are PLENTY of people who live on the streets in her neighborhood. They are not willing (or have not shown the willingness) to apply for government aid. Her applying for government aid does not affect their ability to apply for the same. Does that make my aunt in the wrong? Now look at CCH. They could raise an additional $200,000 for the turf with lots of hard work and sacrifice by the development committee, then an additional sacrifice by 10 or 100 or 1000 donors. Now, they could spend all of the time begging people to give up their hard earned money to CovCath, or they could go to a legal, willing and able third party (Bengals/NFL) and apply for a grant of $200,000. Does that make CovCath in the wrong? There are plenty of other schools just minutes away that could use a new football field more than CovCath, but they are not willing (or have not showed a willingness) to apply. CovCath applying for a grant did not affect other school's ability to apply for the same grant. So why is CovCath in the wrong?

For everyone who is for some reason critical that the money is going to an already "well-off" school, relax. Yes, there are plenty of students/families who are well off, but keep in mind last year alone Covington Catholic families receieved more than $435,000 in financial aid. ( Covington Catholic High School: Tuition Assistance ) I'm aware that this is the case at a lot of schools but since CCH has the reputation as a white-collar family place, I want to give a friendly reminder that there are plenty of blue-collar families as well.
