5 Trinity student-athletes to sign national letters of intent

 

Louisville, KY – Trinity High School seniors Jay Murphy, Daniel Ramser, Ray Spalding, Christian Thieneman and DeAngelo West will sign their respective national letter of intent to participate in collegiate athletics at a ceremony to be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 18, at Trinity High School.

 

Jay Murphy (basketball) will sign with New York University.

Daniel Ramser (basketball) will sign with Bellarmine University.

Ray Spalding (basketball) will sign with the University of Louisville.

Christian Thieneman (basketball) will sign with Marshall University.

DeAngelo West (basketball) will sign with Texas State University.

 

The signing ceremony will be held in Trinity’s Steinhauser Gymnasium, which is located at 4011 Shelbyville Road near the school’s marquee in St. Matthews. Members of the coaching staff and the signees’ parents will attend. Parking is available along Alumni Hall on Sherrin Avenue or in the adjacent lots.

 

NOTE: Please arrive by 2:30 p.m. to avoid student traffic before dismissal.

 

Founded in 1953, Trinity is an all-male Catholic high school with 1,240 students and more than 14,500 alumni. Trinity is a Catholic, college-preparatory high school, forming men of faith and men of character.

Truly an amazing accomplishment for one team. And most likely two more signings to come this year. Congrats to all and good luck this season. I look forward to seeing them play this year.

Obviously a great opportunity on the court but the off the court opportunities is the real game changer.

NY is a DIII school. There are no athletic scholarships. he is going for academic reason but chance to play basketball..

Going to a great academic school to play basketball is a great combination of academics and sports. The term "student athlete" certainly applies here. Kudos to Jay Murphy for making that decision.

Yes, it is a D-III league. One nice thing about this league is that the teams fly to their away games. Perhaps the only D-III league in which that happens. And the schools are located in cities: New York, Boston, Pittsburgh, Cleveland, Atlanta, Chicago and St. Louis. Will be a great experience.
