One of the tougher areas to coach in thats for sure. With all of the consolidation that has taken place in Pike Co. since the 90's all those 1A county schools have disappeared except for Phelps (it was too far away from any of the others to combine) Good luck to him in finding a new coaching job & good luck to Phelps in finding someone that is willing to come to Phelps to coach (unless they already have someone on staff that wants it)

I will go ahead & take Mayfield in the 2A finals over CAL (IF) they both get there & I haven't seen either one of them play this season. Why......because I can.

Again, not defending him, but you say that like the Bulldogs have been a powerhouse. They haven't posted a winning record since 2005.

No dog in the fight but the Principal if their website is updated, was the top assistant @ Henderson Co. during his time there, was an assistant in Alabama at Pelham High School & was the head coach one year at Paul Dunbar in Lexington. He also played @ Whitley Co. & graduated from there in 1998.

I have heard that they have several new faces on the team this year, but don't have any solid info on who they are or their talent level.

@ATLCat I've been to Starters before, all I can remember is that we shut that place down, after that, I don't remember much. HAHA :isurrender:

I'm not saying that Scott Co. is going to win, but you can best bet if I know Jim McKee as well as I think that I do, he will have his team better prepared than anyone for a rematch, especially against Douglass. This hasn't been the typical Scott Co. season & I don't see them going down without pulling out all the stops. It will come down to ball control, forcing the Douglass defense to stay out on the field as much as possible & hoping for a few mistakes to fall their way for Scott Co. to win this game.

So...... Let them in and accept their money, but don't let them play against any Kentucky schools? and I am confused about that Holy Cross can offer them housing? I know nothing about Holy Cross of Louisville, but do they legit have dorms for kids or am I reading that wrong?

I said in the St. X/Male poll thread that if X wins it throws a wrench into everyones thought process & they just threw a breaker bar, a set of metric & standard wrenches and a 4way lug wrench in for good measure. Congrats on the win, they are my pick as the team to beat in 6A.

Scott Co. enters this game losers of 3 of their last 4 while Dunbar enters winners of 2 of their last 4. Both teams lost to Henry Clay recently by 24 & 32 respectively. Does Dunbar keep this game close? Since 1998 Scott Co. is 16-5 against Dunbar with the Bulldogs looking for their first victory in this series since 2005 when they beat Scott Co two times that year.

If X wins, I think that it throws a wrench into everyone's thought process on the 6A playoffs to some degree.

I can stop updating it if you would prefer. I mean no malice in updating the list, I enjoy seeing teams winning & getting off the list!

I have never understood the stubbornness of school districts, whether they are public, private, or independent to allow a school to dwindle down to nothing & not consider consolidation. It stinks for the history of the school and the programs associated with those schools to combine them into a new school, but when you can salvage opportunities and experiences for kids, its ultimately worth it. My school closed the year that I graduated. Gone were50+ years of history for that school. Luckily the consolidation efforts combined the school colors from both schools to carry on one part of that tradition from both schools. They decided on a new mascot which was ok that it wasn't one or the other. Going back to watch games just isn't the same anymore, but there is still a little bit of the past playing in the present.

I would think that it would take other programs sending their concerns in about a school not reporting honestly for them to act on it. Not saying it isn't an important stat, but as noted earlier, tackles are very subjective. If it was a stat that many feel strongly about; passing yards, rushing yards, receiving yards, touchdowns, interceptions, I think that a bigger stink would be raised.

Frederick Douglass's schedule doesn't impress me (not really their fault being a new school) & Scott Co. has shown that they can be vulnerable but have a tougher schedule than Douglass. If Douglass destroys Scott Co. this week, then we have something to talk about. I don't think Henry Clay is in the discussion at this point, even with an impressive win over Scott Co. @ Scott Co, BUT they still host Douglass in 3 weeks & that could change the lay of the land if they beat the Broncos. Never count out Sam Simpson if he gets a head of steam behind him with his team. I haven't seen Simon Kenton, Campbell Co. or North Hardin to speak on them. Can someone post up a playoff bracket with the districts listed?
