  1. Exactly...which is why it's called "March Madness"!!! The team that will make it to Sweet 16 won't be the team that wants to "win" the most but rather the team that refuses to lose!!! I'd say this 2014 9th Region group of teams is the most evenly talented group we've seen in years!!! Not 1 team stands out as a hands down sure winner which makes it even more interesting to watch!!! Which coach has developed his team throughout the season & now has them peaking when it counts the most...tourney time?!?
  2. Anyone know how 7th Region refs interpreted fouls out front rule?? 9th Region officials seemed to be all over the place the whole season!! I want to watch some real basketball & not 4 quarters of free throw shooting!!!
  3. I'm gonna go & take the bold move by saying Holy Cross wins 9th Region with the Final being a rematch of NDA vs HC!! My "Cinderella team" is Boone Co. & as it has been shown the whole 2013/2014 season, it truly can be any team's night but going by the season record, I feel this is the year for Holy Cross!!
  4. Notre Dame vs Holy Cross possible rematch?? Should be an interesting tourney!! Who could be the "Cinderella" team...Boone Co??
  5. This was a good game from start to finish!! I was pulling for the underdog Lady Cougars, but Queen Fookes just knows how to win!! I do think that Coach Stamm showed his team has a bright future with multiple players stepping up during these last couple games. Conner has the talent to win games now & will be tough for a few years to come!! Congrats Boone & Good Luck to both 33rd District teams in Regions!!!
  6. I have said that since the day I heard he stepped down!!! Campbell County's loss will be another school's gain!!!
  7. If the Conner team that showed up tonight vs Ryle keeps showing up each game, Conner will be a major threat this tournament!!! It was a "team" effort that resulted in a big "team" win!!! Congrats Conner!!!
  8. There isn't an easy way to get to Cooper & add snow to the road, this may be big problem!! First game was scheduled to be Cooper/Brossart at 11am....wonder if Brossart was able to make it?? WLWT has Boone Co. activities canceled until after 12noon!!
  9. This was a huge win for Conner & they seemed to have dominated the game from the start. At halftime, Conner was winning 27-11!! The first time these 2 met a couple weeks ago, Conner also dominated almost the whole game but fell apart at the end & lost. Ryle came out fighting the second half & closed the gap quick, but Conner was able to hold on to pull off the win. I don't think either team had a good shooting night so it became a battle underneath & Meyers from Conner won that battle!! Ryle's big girls got into foul trouble & Conner took full advantage of it!! Stamm was also forced to use more players off the bench due to foul trouble & those subs stepped up to the challenge as well!! I thought Hicks did a great job of running the point when Gambrel fouled out which could have been disasterous for Conner. Conner has the talent to win games & when they are patient moving the ball around & wait for a good shot, this team is tough & can play with any team. If Stamm can get his players to play smart all 4 quarters, box out/rebound more & stop taking the NBA 3pt shots on fast breaks, Conner will have a real shot to make the 9th region tourney!! Ryle is a young team with real talent & the potential to be a very good team, but the same can be said for all 4 teams in 33rd district. Should be a fun & interesting tournament to watch this year!!!
  10. Boone played a very good & smart game tonight. They moved the ball around taking smart shots, hitting most of their foul shots & out rebounded Conner all night. Conner wasn't hitting their foul shots & rebounding was a struggle, but they show promise & I wouldn't overlook them come tournament time. It definitely won't be easy, but the key will be to step up the rebounding, focus on making free throws & become more patient on offense!! When they were moving the ball around inside/outside & started driving the lane, they started to chip away Boone's lead. I was pulling for a Conner win, but (IMO) they were outplayed tonight by Nell!! Congrats to the Lady Rebels for a good game & nice win!!
  11. Yes this stuff happens everywhere & in every sport but it seems to me this is a big part of CCHS legacy & that is sad!! It continues to happen because administration sides with the parents & not their employees!! Just sweeping it under the rug or ignoring it & moving on guarantees it will happen again & again & again!!! How many would fire a teacher because their kid didn't get an A in the class?? I'd make my kid study more & earn that A!! Same thing can be said for sports!! Not happy with playing time, then work harder in practice & earn playing time!!
  12. Great photos as usual paNDA!! Thanks for sharing your gift!! This was a great game & I was pulling for Conner, but Ryle nailed their free throws & made crucial shots under pressure to pull this one out!! Even though Conner has lost to both Cooper & Ryle, I still think the 2 teams that will advance from the 33rd District can't be predicted just yet!! Boone, Cooper, Conner, & Ryle are pretty even no matter what the record shows!! Who wants it more will be the difference!!
  13. Glad someone posted this because I was wondering if they would still have activities when school closed!! This should be a good game but I'm pulling for a Conner win...they need a win at home to get out of the slump they've been in lately!!! Are the games same time as usual or are they playing earlier??
  14. I'm not opposed to moving kids up if the skill level is there but I do think physical size needs to be considered as well. I've seen plenty of teams playing with 8th graders whose talent truly rivals some older players. For the most part these younger players have enough size along with skill that would make you unaware they are as young as they are. I am not familiar with the young SK player mentioned earlier so my opinion is only based on the description given. From her physical description it sounds like her lack of size may be taking away from her advanced skills on the court, especially on defense & rebounding situations!! Coach Stowers is a smart coach & I'm sure he is looking out for this player & knows when to say when!!!
  15. I think that is where the parents have a responsibility to step in!! No matter how talented the kid is if they are not physically big enough, its just an injury waiting to happen!! A young player can only be put in that position if the parents allow it & sometimes the status of playing up isn't worth risking a career ending injury before a real career has been established!! Just my opinion!!
  16. I'm thinking that if his teaching license was truly at risk this would be getting major media attention especially if they are claim an improper relationship or similar accusation!! I think the rumors regarding his teaching position were most likely started by those embarrassed by the coaching situation & backlash it has caused!!! Coach Murray, the remaining CC players & families are innocent victims that didn't deserve this & I hope that the real problem comes back to bite CC administration & the family that caused it in the first place!!!
  17. It really is a sad situation at CC to watch such talent being brought down due to the "mental games" a set of parents caused!!! I'm sure in order for CC to find a coach, they will need to hire someone from outside the area & not a parent/coach!!! Regardless, if Mommy & Daddy still aren't satisfied with playing time, this will continue until the Princess graduates!! Amazes me how 1 family can have that much control while all the other players & families have zero control at all!!! Other schools should use this issue & learn from CC's big mistake!!! Coach Murray brought the spark back to CC & will no doubt revive the program at another school again one day!!!
  18. WOW...Congrats to Holy Cross!!! What happened to Conner? I figured Conner might have a tough time with the Tower Twins but thought it would be closer than 29pts!!! Holy Cross is a real contender for that 9th Region Title but there really isn't 1 team in the 9th Region dominating over all the other teams so this is setting up to be a very entertaining tourney this year!!
  19. I thought the same thing especially with the # of games missed already & we haven't entered Feb yet!! Safety first I guess?!
  20. Thanks for the info!! If games are rescheduled & not on this forum, will that change be posted somewhere else??
  21. Does anyone know about making up the games canceled by the weather? I'm sure the season won't be extended so are schools going to try making them up in between or are they just dropping those missed games? And if games are being rescheduled how do fans find out that information? Just curious!! This winter has been very unkind!!
  22. I agree & apologize for naming names. I by no means meant Coach Stamm did anything wrong or that he doesn't sub in correctly. In fact I would have loved for my kid to continue playing basketball & played for Coach Stamm!! Maybe I went about that the wrong way. Moving forward I just feel Conner needs to become a team that can win without the 3's because outside shots don't always go in so you need to stay calm & develop your lane game!! I'm just not sure Conner has many players on the bench that are capable to do that at this stage. Obviously that is not to say they won't step up & do it. Stamm & his staff know what they have & what players are capable of no questions asked!!
