To confirm your concerns, no starters played after Q1 and the team was required to make (5) passes in the half court before scoring. It is unfortunate;however, this was a required District game. It didn't help that Atherton's second leading scorer was out too.

I agree with your statements and would like to remind everyone that a similar situation occurred in the 2017 State tournament, giving Mercer County a ‘favorable’ draw thru the Semis with the others powers in the lower bracket. While i question the drive by Mercer it is no different than when SHA played in December and barely arrived at all due to an unexpected ice storm. Bottom line is that these games are to prepare for March, not today. -

Nice to see Valkyries bounce back from Mercer Co. game. Was a little surprised by Eastern given that the team had beaten (2) other pre-season ranked teams -- Mercy and DuPont Manual. -
JCPS Girls Basketball - Lack of Balance
Behindthescences replied to bigfunky's topic in KY Girls Basketball (High School)
Bottom line... JCPS does not care about Title IX sports... additional revenue but not a priority. Each school administration can determine the 'rules' to attract student athletes. Those schools are making it a priority. With the new interim super, he understands but not a priority -- ensuring education rates improve is. JMO -

Sacred Heart 58 Butler 49

Both teams at full strength. SHA was able to contain Butler post presence (Lockhart/Lewis) better than the first meeting in the LIT. -

Both teams at full strength. Very good game. Competitive and defensive on both sides. SHA actually shows patience on offense (very surprised) and was able to contain Butler's post presence (Lockhart/Lewis) vs. the LIT meeting 10 days ago. -

Those kids that you mentioned did not attend 100% for free either. I can easily confirm. There are endowments available to private schools based on race, financial situation, legacy to school..etc. Only 'free ride' that I know about is for scoring high on the placement test (top 5%). Not freebies for athletes, no matter how talented someone is perceived to be. If people took the time to investigate, then the discussion about 'freebies' wouldn't exist because NOTHING IN LIFE IS FREE.
