The nite really was a fun game of spurts and wrestling for the momo. While the main 3 for Campbell were terrific -- Clos/Schwarber were on in 1st half and Stapleton in 2nd half -- the difference in the game was the Robins kid from Mercer. Tonite was easily her best of the year (by far). That kinda stinks for CC re timing but think it was only a matter of time until a premier player like that breaks through a funk and just plays ... tonite was the nite.

 

As dd mentioned, both teams rained 3's. CC was hot in first half with Stapleton hot in 2nd half. Mercer got hot themselves in the 2nd half building a nice lead with not much time on the clock. Things got quite hectic in the last minute. Fortunately for Mercer their lead was too much and too little time on the clock.

 

CC is absolutely the real deal. Hard to see anyone in that region pushing them. I know, I know ... GRC. Sounds like GRC is gonna have to get with it if they want to play at CC's level.

 

Kudo's to Taylor Clos for her 2000th point ... that kid can score!!

Congratulations to Mercer.

Both teams left on the floor tonight. Mercer never lets up. Foul trouble hobbled the Lady Camels in the first half, as Schwarber was probably on the bench at least the equivalent of a quarter. Not having her to help break Mercer's smothering press defense for a good amount of time showed. Lady Camels made a ferocious come back at the end. They cut Mercer's 9 point lead with :27 seconds to go, to a 2 point margin and took a good 3 point shot that would have given the Lady Camels a 1 point lead has it gone through the hoop. Camels fouled after the miss, and put Mercer on the line for foul shouts. Lady Camels got the ball back with :02 left and got the last shot that fell short. GREAT GAME!!!!!!

 

My numbers may be off by a point here or there, fast paced game. It was hard to keep up with.

In order for the Lady Camels to beat Mercer and SHA, they need someone (other than the big 3) to step up and score. EasyEdge talked about Mercer's depth and it showed last night that CCHS doesn't have that 4th scoring option. If the talent is there, the girls need to prove they can contribute on a consistent basis night in and night out. Go Camels -- beat Bullitt East.

This was one of CC's best showings so far. Yes, I know, wins are what it is all about (and they have had some BIG ones), but..... this was the nationally ranked, defending State Champions, whose only loss was to #1 in the country, that can smother you with D1 players.

 

CC is a great team, but on paper they should not have been one shot away from taking the win.

 

If I only had two choices to pick from: Mercer by 2 or Mercer by 20 - I would have guessed 20.

Holbrook averaged 10 points a game last year. She has been steadily increasing her productivity this season. She had 8 vs Mercer County.

If she continues to produce, CC will be extremely hard to contain.

I guess you haven't seen Sacred Heart play. They have many scoring threats.

I think we need to reevaluate our expectations of a fourth option. Keyword FOURTH OPTION. CC has done a pretty good job of filling that void by committee i.e Seckman, Miller, Wells, Holbrook and Koeninger.
