  1. Ally had 18 . Also 8 Rb, 7 asst. was something like 6/7 ft. She looked pretty darn good! Kudos to her for the game, for her recovery and for her great hs career. Her next hoops chapter will start right back on the nku floor in The fall!
  2. Credit to Scherr and Schwartz for battling back for the victory while carrying 4 fouls, and to their team mates for stepping up where they needed to . It wouldn’t have been a win without some clutch contributions from the rest . Fairly even scoring after Scherr.
  3. Great great game! SK in the lead much of the game, then back and forth at end. Scherr led all scorers with 21. Congratulations Lady Raiders !
  4. Game was Friday but surprisingly not posted yet. I thought there was a lot of 9th region interest on bgp. ? Dixie hung tough with the Raiders, they have a nice team! Senior Buddenburg closed out her career with an excellent game! Ryle's big guns Scherr and Schwartz with 24 and 22 points, but lady raiders gonna need a better executed game to bring home the 9th region trophy today and get far at the state tourney! Good luck Raiders!
  5. Huge upset! Things are looking up for Mercer county! SHA was a 'co-top 3' with Campbell and Mercer. Path is getting clearer !
  6. Is it my faulty memory or does this transferring stuff always seem to happen in certain schools? Highlands, HC, SK, NDA ? Does Cooper, Conner or Ryle have any actual transfers? That is, those who transferred into their schools after attending a different HS, freshman year or beyond? Is this the credit (or fault) of their strict district transfer rules?
  7. this is sarcasm, right? Not much main stream support for Raiders early on, while Holmes seem to be a shoe in for the sweet 16, according to bgp and polls. Even the Shinning Stars guy that runs it voted against Ryle in the pole, when Ryles team is mostly his players! So, yea seems funny that a lot of posters think the game will be close when Holmes been pounding their competition into the ground, getting the votes, not Ryle. Enjoy the underdog status for now Raiders, I don't think it will last. I will take Ryle by 5.
  8. I predict the game will be another very tough game for the Lady Raiders down in Covington, but I remember the reg season game last year when Holmes got lucky with the called off buzzer beater from Jump which saved Holmes from a loss. The Raiders proved that they are one of the few teams that can play with the Dogs. I hear they have greatly improved since then. I know Raiders are big underdogs here, unranked and all that. And Holmes is very good! (Nothing but positives!) But, I have a hunch Raiders pull this game out.
  9. If an 8th grader can't take the criticism that goes with being a varsity player at a high school, she or he should stay on the 8th grade team, which is perfectly fine! Do you know what kind of trash talk those kids say to each other during games? Girls, too! Agree some of the BGP stuff could be tough a kid if things go too far (someone is playing shrink for one of the SK girls on another thread, really?) but I can't see any issues that a coach or player should be concerned with on this one. And I seriously doubt they pay much attention. At all. This thread is about who is going to win and why? How do you answer that and only say positive things ? "I think my team will score the most points" Period? I guess Guru better close down the high school sports forums, and the Middle school stuff, too. Not much discussion to be had if we all agree these kids are all equally fantastic!
  10. This. No doubt the Raiders worked hard trying to come out on top of one of the best in the state in their own house, but as losses go, it sounds like a good one. Ryle should be pretty happy with their start after the difficulties of the past few years. I am sure their are learning a whole new way of doing hoops, and coaches still getting to know the players, also. Playing in that environment. 3rd hard fought game in 5 days. Heard the older Schwartz girl was playing with a hand injury as well. Lady Raiders will be fine, keep battling!
  11. Agree they have underachieved, but no suprise with the çurrent Sr class starting their 4th hs season with their 3rd coach, àll totally new systems with coaches and asst that have been brand new to Ryle. Kind of tough to over achieve in their situation. But brand new yeAr, would enjoy seeing it çome together for the raiders. 7 or 8 very solid seniors plus the 8th grader Scherr has grown from what I have heard. Tough schedule, I think most of that CJ TOP 25 on their schedule this year. Sçott Sk, Mason ço, àND Holmes first 4 games. Good luck laďies.
  12. Great seeing Jump and Lange sign together! Jump can be a beast on the court, Congrats getting a D2 Scholarship! Well deserved!
  13. Great news! Awesome to see her and Jump sign together. They have been playing together forever. I think Lange will have a big year! Congratulations to Carly and family!
  14. Agree! Some of these college officials are in left field, or in a field of dreams or something.
  15. Looks right, big seperation between top 3 and the rest. Decent sized space between #1 and #2/#3, IMO. Nice season 'Neers, keep it up!
  16. Seemed to be just one team listed from the 9th. Am I missing something ?
  17. Is this the same team that has had 3 coaches in 4 years? Could have something to do with a team not playing to their potential.
  18. A lot of good returning players this year for the 9th region. Several schools with nearly entire starting line-up returning from last year . The senior class has a bunch of skill and experience to offer, although no major stars, imo, just solid players. McClendon is a possible stand-out, and I agree that she is likely under-rated. Interesting to see if she can carry her tribe this year after graduating a well balanced group. I expect good things from the Ryle girls. They are a great group of young ladies and return their top 8 players. They have both experienced senior talent (Jones, Jump, Lange, M Schwartz, Carothers) and young raising talent (Scherr, L Schwartz & MacGregor) - and a strong bench behind them - lost only one player to graduation and the post transfer to NCC. They may have Aly Ast back from a year long injury. The pivotal issue for the Ryle girls will be the new coach. Talk is Coach Haitz is using Fookes style conditioning to get her team up to speed and plans to maximize her teams height advantage, but only time will tell how far a first year coach can take a team. Looks like the 9th region will have a strong year! Can't top last year but they will all be trying to try to match it! Good luck ladies!
  19. I am glad the Ryle girls are having some success, too, TS, but dont get the idea that it is to the coach's credit, sadly. The starting 5 pulled out a nice victory in the final quarter and OT against a decent team last night, but this game was like many others this season where the fans look at each other in puzzlement as perplexing coaching decisions unfold thru much of the game. Although Ryle came out sluggish tonight, you can credit the girls for pulling out that win and some others. Yes, Ryle fans have needed a lot of patience, you are right! The rumblings are still happening in Union, but I would say that most Ryle fans are trying to keep a happy face for the girls , keep them motivated, and not bring any more negativity into the situation. Hoping the Raiders, the entire team! can get working together and play the game they are capable of against Holmes and others in the next weeks. They have a lot of tools for success if they are used and if the girls don't give up.
  20. A late report, but Ryle got it done even without Madison Jones, who has led Ryle with great shooting the past couple games. Carly Lange stepped up and scored 23 against Trimple and Malery Schwartz scored 17. Next up for Ryle is Boone for round 2 on Friday at the Nell Fokes gym. Ryle dominated Boone in the first half of the earlier meeting, only to squeak by in the end for the W. always entertaining to see these rival schools play at Boone.
  21. This. Coach O certainly would have had these girls ready to play, unlike the current coach who continues to focus on lifting and other pointless activities even at mid season instead of working on THE GAME. And yes, with 7th and 8th graders coming straight from their middle school teams, they all need to focus on playing at the varsity level. All 3 MS players very talented and capable of a great night from time to time, especially the 8th graders. But they are so young and inexperienced and have each had individual poor games, they are not nearly as ready for varsity as the actual Ryle students as far as defense, poise, strength and ball management. Not a knock, just reality. They just aren't consistant yet, but are doing well coming off the bench. Will be standout players, but if there isn't a coaching change this summer, you can bet they won't ever walk the halls at Ryle. The coach and her assistant have no business running a high school program IMO Their strategy (and lack of) is just VERY bad. no excuse for misshandling multiple issues all year. From smaller things like being in the locker room long after the halftime buzzer to big issues such blowing nearly every lead the team has had and ZERO coaching in down to the wire games. Not even a time out (had plenty left) to give the 12 year old on the floor (in a tied, seconds left game) a few pointers, maybe draw up a play? Ask Ryle parents about the coaching debacles of last week-end. If this was going on at some schools parents would be going nuts. Several upper classman sit on the bench every game, the whole game! While it is understood that varsity is for the "best" players and is not for development, when asked by benchwarmers how they can improve opportunities to play, the coach states that sorry, she has to play the MS girls to "develop" them . The junior girls sitting the bench aren't even permitted to play jv. I am glad my favorite Ryle player has very little to lose here, but I am a sports fan and a basketball fan. There are a lot of good players at Ryle who are passionate about playing and are well supported - even in a public school. It's hard to watch. Gotta agree, Ryle lost the lottery.
  22. M Schwartz, Jones, Lange, Jump and Jenna Carothers have been starting. Yes 8th graders getting plenty of minutes and 7th grader, too. First off bench in some.
  23. Not determined. 4 returning starters juniors Lange, Jump, Shwartz, and Jones . Other spot up for grabs. Only one senior on team this year, O'Sullivan, since Martin opted not to return. Would have likely seen sophomore Ally Ast to get the starting spot but she is out for season with ACL. Several junior possiblities as well as middle school players that were brought up to play with the Raiders this year.
