  1. I know you are talking about Reed as that freshman, but to say he is better than anyone on Calloway's roster is pretty strong. I think he has the potential to be at some point, but there are some solid kids on that roster including the preseason #1 player who will be starting for the fifth year in a row. I think PT will definitely be a challenger, but I'm not ready to crown them yet. Next year is a different story.
  2. I agree with you that he likes to shoot the three but he is still a post threat. He is 6-7 and athletic.
  3. I think Graves has another kid that is 6-7. Calloway has Hunter who is 6-7. Seems like there will be a lot of 6-4's but no real big men.
  4. What you know is you are the next team on the schedule. Haha. No disrespect to Mayfield. Great program with the championships to prove it. But really, who were they supposed to be chanting that they wanted. Someone they play in the 5th game on the schedule.
  5. They also had a player from South Fulton transfer in. MCHS should battle it out with Tilghman for the district title but they are both assured to go to the regional tournament because St. Mary and CCA can't give either of them a game this year. They should be one of the top 5 teams in the region to compete to go to Rupp.
  6. Yes, you are right. I did mean Calloway and Marshall and not Graves. I think McCracken's future will depend on whether next year's players will buy in like this year's players did and play together. That will be a huge question mark. That and as you said earlier, how they will replace Chumbler and Burnett. Those two drew so much attention and opened up everything for the others. I'm not sure if there is a player left there that can take it off of the dribble the way those two could. Calloway has to be the clear cut favorite at this point.
  7. I agree with the list with the exception of McCracken over Tilghman. That's just my opinion though. I think the list is pretty accurate. I would say that Graves and Marshall are a distance away from the rest of the field though.
  8. I don't get it with Hunter. I would take Adams, who is in his class and on Hunter's team, over Hunter any day of the week. Hunter didn't even make the all first region team. He is tall and he can shoot. But he averaged less than 12 points a game. He is probably the 4th best junior in the first region behind Adams, Wooten, and Bacon. Not deserving of an invite in my opinion.
  9. I agree. I think those 3 will be the front runners year in and year out and I would give the edge to McCracken because of the athletes they have in the system. The foundation was laid this year. I look for McCracken to be the big dog on the block for years to come.
  10. I would say Parker Adams from Region 1 should be on there.
  11. First off congratulations to Covington Catholic. Well deserved. Next, I would like to say McCracken County surprised some people this year. They were picked to finish 3rd in the Region and came out of it and made it to the Elite 8. Great group of young men and some pretty darn good basketball players. Congratulations to all.
  12. I haven't seen Wayne County play but I would say by their record alone they would have to be favored. Don't be misled by the scoring averages though. McCracken will certainly get up and down the floor with a team if they play a faster pace. They have the speed to do it. They play in a region that plays awfully slow at times though. I would favor Wayne County. How big do they go?
  13. Marshall has a way of slowing teams down. McCracken averaged about 65 points a game this year but it wasn't close to that in the three games against Marshall. Marshall liked to use Rentfrow to control the flow and McCracken likes to get their guards out on the run. It was a good game by both teams.
  14. I never understood how Smith was even subbed out of the game at that point. You called it exactly right though. Puckett just shot an airball and they said Chumbler partially blocked it and gave it back to Graves. It should have been McCracken ball up by 6 with under 2 minutes to go. The ironic thing is Graves never scored again after this incident and McCracken just played on. Good win for the Mustangs.
  15. I bet that place will be crazy. It should be a great game.
  16. St. Mary and Tilghman is a very interesting game. Both are pretty good teams and one of them won't make it out of the district.
  17. McCracken has shown they have some weapons this week with a different leading scorer in each of their three games. Stonecipher led Moday with 19, Chumbler with 24 on Tuesday, and Burnett last night with 17. Its hard for other teams to focus on stopping just one player with those guys.
  18. McCracken beat Goreville 80-67. The Mustangs had 4 players in double figures led by Kam Chumbler with 27, Stoneciper 14, Burnett 13, and Rodgers with 12.
  19. Seems like the way to beat Calloway would be to make them play fast. They look very pressable.
  20. It was actually Burnett with 12, Rodgers with 12, and Chumbler with 9.
  21. Stonecipher was out with the flu. Armstrong and Chumbler only played about 4 minutes the first half with foul trouble.
  22. Fun game to watch in front of a big crowd. MCHS has the potential to surprise some people. Chumbler makes that team go offensively but Burnett and Rodgers are playing their butts off to. I stand corrected on Burnett. I was the one who said he could never play in a system with other good players but MCHS doesn't win this game without him.
  23. Until McCracken proves they are better than St. Mary then I have to agree with them. As for the player rankings, it appears as if they went straight from last years voting as you had said they should do earlier. I agree with that but also disagree with that. Doesn't matter, not a single game has been played yet. Only time will tell if the main 3 from MCHS can coexist.
  24. I agree. If Cam Chumbler, Caleb Stonecipher, and Jared Burnett can all coexist, they can be dangerous.
  25. Anyone ever find out who they consulted on this list? The more I think about it, its pretty much a deadlock at the top 3 spots with McCracken, Graves, and Calloway. I think Calloway and McCracken play early and Calloway may get them in the first one, but I think by seasons end McCracken will be the stronger team. McCracken will be deeper than anyone in the region hands down. They can go big or they can go fast. They can bring a lot of different looks to the court and make for some very tough match ups. I'm going to recant my statements on Burnett and Stonecipher because it is yet to be seen how they will play this year. They have never had the talent with them that they do now. I do know McCracken can be a very dangerous team if they all get it together.
