  1. There was one substitution where the oncoming players, instead of calling a name, yelled "EVERYBODY"! Did anyone track the stats during this? Was curious how many saves the Dixie starter had. Guessing a pretty high number of real effort saves too. She did a heck of a job. By time they pulled her, she was looking whipped - but still fighting. The Highlands goalies looked bored most of the night.
  2. I don't remember that... I was finishing 6th grade at the end of that school year
  3. OLP ceased to exist at the end of the 82-83 school year. NewCath is still there and going strong! Do we have the BGP archives from 83,84,85... I bet this made for some great thread discussions! From the schools website: In April 1982, the merger of NC and OLP was announced. In January 1983, Bishop William A. Hughes announced that the name of the merged school would be Newport Central Catholic High School, and the school would officially commence on July 1 of that year. NCC opened its doors in 1983 with an enrollment of nearly 620 students. At that time, the faculty included 25 dedicated lay men and women, 10 Sisters of Divine Providence, four Christian Brothers, and two diocesan priests. The principal, Mr. Carl Foster, was assisted by Mr. Robert Schneider, Sr. Margaret Stallmeyer, and Br. John Lyons. History & Facts - Newport Central Catholic High School
  4. I've got last year's roster somewhere. I'll have to look.
  5. Can't answer that one... Does anyone use MaxPreps for the rosters?
  6. The maxpreps roster is a MESS... Multiple players are listed twice.
  7. Just don't call them Newport Central... @Lawnboy13 will have a fit
  8. You must not be on their distribution list... Probably a simple oversight... It might have gotten lost in the mail. The one I have has 30 SRs, 34 JRs, and 31 SOs. Collectively they weigh 8.25 TONS and stand 555'11" tall.
  9. Is Dayton playing on the football field? Don't recall anywhere else in the city to have a game...
  10. I don't believe so.... I recall reading that the full name should be used. Someone will correct you if you do it wrong! :isurrender:
  11. I always thought that the HHS formula was that no one cared about the Frosh and JV records. It was all getting ready for their turn on the varsity run for the championship.
  12. BRING BACK THE CANNON!!!! (not going to happen) I'm always thinking there must be a way to "simulate" the cannon firing... Smoke machine, compressed air, and a recorded shot over the PA??? Even though I grew up hating HHS, I did think the cannon fire was pretty damn cool!
  13. Haven't been there for a soccer game (yet). I assume it's the big open field behind the baseball field. https://www.google.com/maps/place/Morscher+Sports+Complex/@39.0378354,-84.4070898,582m/data=!3m1!1e3!4m2!3m1!1s0x0000000000000000:0xd95f2dd1fa0e6659!6m1!1e1
  14. If we won the lottery, I wonder how big of a donation it would take to drop the "central".
  15. Is there a stat that shows how often the kick resulted in a touchback? Has to be pretty darn high for Dougherty.
  16. Great... Don't give Coffey any more reasons to push it back even farther.
  17. I've never heard it from players, but have heard it each of the last 4 or so years from other students. I think these younger generations only look at what was lost (players) and don't remember they said the same thing about the previous year... Will the Birds win it again this year???? Who knows, but I bet it will be an exciting ride one way or another...
  18. Cleaning off my monitor now...
  19. More than 1 but I agree with the premise.
  20. Going to NewCath game on Friday and Highlands game on Saturday.
  21. NOPE... Coach Coffey wanted to beat NewCath in this category too... (Since he can't in the All A) HHS awards night is this Weds. Fortunately the lone senior is going to Thomas More! :jump::banana:
  22. I may come around... I was raised a Highlands hater and look at me know... With my dumb luck, I'll go to a game and end up standing next to pitino!
  23. Classic conflict... Love Shelby but hate all things Louisville...
  24. It was posted on Facebook that Shelby Graybill is now headed to LOUISVILLE... Unfortunately, I'll be able to root for Shelby, but won't be able to cheer for Louisville. I'm genetically incapable.
