A few offensive numbers to look at. If these numbers are not exact, they are very close. Pulled them off of KHSAA Through 8 games: Rushing Yards: Bowling Green 850 yards / South Warren 1,000 yards Passing: Purples: BuCANNON 99-158 (62.6%) 1,331 yards / 0 INT's / 20 TDs / 1 Rush TD Spartans: Spurrier 94 - 154 (61%) 1,495 YARDS / 5 INT's / 17 TDs / 2 Rush TD Purples Opponents have won total of 24 games Spartans Opponents have won total of 22 games Purples averaging 41 points per game ( giving up 15) Spartans averaging 37 points per game (giving up 11)

Move to 4 classes (Not 6) Cut qualifying playoff teams in half 1A Champ vs 2A Champ 3A Champ vs 4A Champ It will never happen, but it should. No one will ever convince me that a team that goes 2-8 or 3-7 should make playoffs. The $ you would save not having to make "Participating Trophies" for everyone, could be better used somewhere else.

Great write up (again!) P88. So much detail to all teams in your area. As far as the "big game" is concerned, I look forward in seeing a few different matchups. I will talk about those in other thread. I do really believe BG and South will win out until they play each other in playoffs. Winner of that game will have their hands full with Covington Catholics best team they have ever had. Friday night will be a huge night for Warren County, KY. It is what makes highschool football the best sport in the land. Great work!

I called this one wrong in pre-season. I thought Greenwood would win. Don't see it happening. Long drive and lots of points for Highlands. Birds, by a bunch

The game we've been waiting for is finally upon us. Heck, the weather is even going to be perfect. This game will be good for both schools for many years to come. I'm calling this as the first of two games that the Purples and Spartans will play this year. I think both BG and South will beat Christian County and Red Devils. As far as the game is concerned, I'm going with the Purple and Gold. Turnover battle will determine a lot. Game has potential to start out ugly due to the hype and excitement of the players. If Spartans has a handful of (key) players that play both ways it should prove beneficial for Purples. Unless I am not aware of some speedster on South, I would think that overall team speed would also lean toward BG. WILL South Warren try to stick with their style of play? Or will they be purposely try to keep BG offense off field? Honest question. Not sure what they will do. I do know that like the Purples, Spartans will give it all they got. Purples 2 losses were due to being outmatched by St X huge O-line and PRP schemes and speed. Although Purples suffered 2 L's, they did outplay both of those squads in 2nd half. I could go on and on with several different angles, takes and bias opinions but I will refrain. We can all agree on that it is a much anticipated matchup. Purples 48 Spartans 21

Pretty difficult to take my purple glasses off but I still think BG wins by a couple of TDs, or more. Can they get beat next week? Yes. Anything can happen. BG has overall team speed and more athletes. South has 5 or 6 kids (2 or 3 of them play both ways) that will keep them in most games. As I said before season started; week 2 and 3 were going to be tough on Purples and if you are going to win 5A and your name is not Bowling Green, you better do it this year. Ill give official prediction later in week. Ill admit that South is much better and tougher than I thought they would be this season. Will be fun to watch

There is no better sports writer in the Bluegrass than P88! This one may be your best yet. Class Act to name game of week after the young man from Hoptown. Reading this article and writing this post on our balcony in Myrtle Beach during our Fall Break. Pretty cool! If you get a chance look at the stats for Vito Tisdale at BGHS. averaging more than 10 yards a carry and scoring about ever 4th touch or so. Although he is rarely in backfield his numbers are pretty amazing. Ready for some more HS football!

Ithink all of the state will take a peek at the score and game updates on the October 20 game with South Warren and BGHS. Admittedly, I thought before season began that the Purples would dominate the game. Not so sure now but am confident they will be more than eager to play this game (as will South Warren). It is what makes HS football so good. The calendar has been circled for many months now. Ready to see the game. Hoping South can win against the TN team - I would love for them to be undefeated when October 20 arrives. Will be a good one!
