plantmanky Posted September 30, 2017 Posted September 30, 2017 Bowling Green may not make it to Lexington this year.
Purple Nation Posted September 30, 2017 Posted September 30, 2017 I thought it would be closer than this. Things are starting to get interesting. Congrats tackle Trap
JDEaston Posted September 30, 2017 Posted September 30, 2017 Has Christian County been sandbagging all season? That's hard to say given that they are undefeated, but they had been a bit underwhelming this season up until tonight.
BigTiger55 Posted September 30, 2017 Posted September 30, 2017 Those of us close to the program new we could have a very nice team. A couple of things mentioned in the pre season threads were depth on Defense and continuity on Offense. Christian is on its 4th o/line coach in as many years, so it's taken some time to iron out the kinks and replace The two Purdue studs. Defensively we've lost two of best defenders in Peyton Laneveve and Antonio Abren. And Christian lost those guys early as in week one. So that depth had to be built sooner than later. Kids are playing hard.
ApolloFan98 Posted September 30, 2017 Posted September 30, 2017 I was dead wrong on this one. I thought the game would be more about what Owensboro did or didn't do, but Christian County simply out manned the Devils tonight. I came away very impressed with Langhi and the entire front line for CC. They were able to spread OHS out and pretty much do whatever they wanted offensively. Defensively, they rose to the occasion and kept Owensboro out of the endzone until late when the game was already out of reach. If they play like they did tonight, the Colonels are going to be very hard to beat. Ill be watching with a close eye as my Eagles are coming to town.
ddevil Posted September 30, 2017 Posted September 30, 2017 Owensboro had no answer for Christian Co. Quarterback did pretty much what he wanted middle of the field wide all night i feel like this team is going backwards
Purple88 Posted September 30, 2017 Posted September 30, 2017 Great Weather last night! I was fortunate to get to meet @ApolloFan98, @devils58, and @ddevils on the Owensboro side last night and @TackleTrap on the Christian County side last night. Great to get to speak with all of you!!! The game was back and forth early, but ominous from a Red Devils side as O turned it over on a take away fumble around midfield and County drove down and punched it in. O to their credit fought back and led twice at 14-13 and 21-20, but that was really it as a quick 14 points before the half doomed Owensboro. For Owensboro going forward at 2-4 is unfamiliar territory for them so keeping the ship going in the right direction is Job 1. For County, everything is still as it was from the beginning of the season, which is to try to go undefeated and host the Regional Championship the week before Thanksgiving! BIG WIN - no doubt.
devils58 Posted October 2, 2017 Posted October 2, 2017 It was great to meet you as well Purple88! I was convinced that you were Kevin Wallace but after meeting you in the flesh, I can vouch....you aren't Kevin Wallace but you're a super nice dude! I also appreciated the convo we had as well. Wish we could've chatted more, but doing the Homers Broadcast had us a tad busy. Thanks for coming up, and hopefully we'll see you down the road as well! As for the game, you have to tip your hat to Christian County. Last Friday was the best I've ever seen Kolbie Langhi play against Owensboro and it wasn't close. Also, kuddos to the Christian County staff for finding something that worked and sticking with it. CC spread OHS out and used Langhi on QB keepers all night, and OHS couldn't stop it. When CC got it 3rd and longs, it simply threw the ball over the middle and converted several 3 downs. Corey Trice is the real deal. I can see why Jeff Brohm offered him to be a Purdue Boilermaker. He'll do great things in West Layfayette. All in all, this is the best CC team, ive seen since the Bubba Tandy days. OHS meanwhile, is in a state of flux. Offensively, they are struggling to find a consistent passing attack to keep defenses honest. Defensively, OHS is missing NG Diamond Glover and LB Jalen Goodwin and it shows. The biggest surprise is the trouble that OHS is having guarding the middle of the field, but when you factor in a freshman (Austin Gough) and a sophomore (Trace Grenier) are you starting middle linebackers, you gotta figure the learning curve is going to happen. It may sound crazy, but I think OHS will be fine and be a very difficult out come playoff time. OHS has a chance to get better against Marshall County before taking on a very tough Apollo football team in two weeks. After the Apollo game, we'll probably know more about OHS being a threat in the playoffs.

The loser there has to play at either Bowling Green or South Warren in the first round of the playoffs, a very tall order.
tackle trap Posted October 2, 2017 Posted October 2, 2017 I think when Owensbore gets their 2 players back on defense you will see a big difference. I like what they do offensively it's hard to prepare for and teams just don't see that style anymore. 5 is just a big time player. This is a very dangerous team if they don't push the panic button.. Good luck to the Red Devils.
rosco Posted October 2, 2017 Posted October 2, 2017 The Devils are just an ok team this year, and CC is very good. After seeing what Daviess county and now Christian did to their offense it doesn't take a genius to see that it's time they move their offense into this century. If they can't/won't run a spread then put in a pro style look, spread some kids out and get these athletes the ball in space. Surely there is someone in that school that can throw it around a little.
