I too am a transplant, but have learned to appreciate the program's history over the past 11 years. I can tell you when I look through the record books that HHS didn't win every state title either. It's human nature to fall in love with the glory years (the 6 straight years), but what fun would the quest be if no one else was trying to win? Just sayin...

Wow! One loss to an opponent HHS wasn't going to beat anyway and everyone jumps ship. Perhaps the once-proud fanbase could use some toughening up as well and quit looking for scapegoats (aka. DV, fieldhouse, etc.) The kids on that field still work-out year-round, still have a desire to win, and still live with their successes and failures. Perhaps we can hear from those that still support those qualities of a winning program.

My biggest concern for the Ryle and Lex Cath games is getting guys healthy. Before SCHS game, HHS was missing a lot (especially defensively), now the team is missing a lot offensively as well. We could field a very good team with the guys out with injury. That's not good!

Mega Dittos Rush! The bend-don't-break defense will give up points. I doubt the turnovers will be as plentiful as in the first two weeks, but talking to CCH parents after the game, the HHS defense is a "ball strippin bunch" so maybe SCHS will put one or two on the turf. HHS offense needs to continue to let more out of the bag to be in the game come winning-time. It'll be interesting to see what new wrinkles we will see. The weapons are there, IMHO.

Last year's final was 42-33. I think it would be a big win if Highlands could pull it out for sure. However, if Highland's offense starts opening up, it could get interesting.

Birds by 2 scores. Home game, much improved defense, and an offense that will get better as the season advances. CC has a lot of talent but I don't think enough to pull off this game.

Any person or team is going to have a difficult time achieving "the run" Highlands made in recent history, but the program seems to be on good foundation with some talent moving through the ranks in the next few years. Friday nights in the Fort will be fun to watch.

Any win is a good win. Birds have a lot to clean up, but there are a lot of things to like. Logan Sieple is a wedge-busting beast. The defense is very solid. Schwalbach runs, well, like the same hard-nosed runner we've come to expect. Keep working Birds!

We won't know until we know but I see a balanced birds attack pulling away in the second half. I guess we'll find out.
