Covington Catholic 21 Dixie Heights 13

Didn't say they were soft, only that there is work to be done. Just don't want there to be a false sense of complacency with much stiffer challenges ahead. -

If it makes everyone feel better, I hope Brossart is the coach at Dixie for a very long time. -

I still find the pass D suspect. According to Dixie posters, Moore was off this game. If Moore was on, there were open receivers that would not have been missed and other receivers would have been hit in stride instead of having to make adjustments on the ball. Moeller, Highlands, and Conner will have quarterbacks that will not miss those throws. -

When it was 14-13 and Dixie had the momentum, I got nervous. But then I remembered Brossart was coaching and relaxed quite a bit... -
Cooper 31 Newport Central Catholic 22

Said in the update thread and I'll repeat it here. I'm surprised at how small these teams looked. -
Very nice win for the Colts!

Lots of work to do in Union...

Random thoughts: 1) Dixie is much improved over last year. 2) I thought Dixie won the battle in the trenches. 3) CovCath defensive ends were sucked in all night. Against a QB that doesn't throw that well and wants to tuck and run, why do you continue to go inside and not keep contain? 4) How many go two ways for Dixie? Felt they somewhat wore down in the 2nd and 4th quarters. 5) Thought Wirth should have gone for it on those two 4th and shorts. It worked out for the team in the end, but you could feel the momentum had shifted. 6) Why Dixie didn't pound the more after the first series confuses me. They had success, but went away from it too soon. -

Indiana teams that Kentucky teams play

EC would be a great gate for a home and home series, with Conner/Cooper/Ryle/Boone being the obvious opponents. I know EC has quite a few conference games they are locked into as well as the rivalry game with Harrison, OH they play every year. They also like to close the season with a Indy school, so there isn't a lot of schedule flexibility. -
Campbell County/Highlands Predictions

That and the whole nobody in NKY playing Highlands because of the large margins of defeats will keep this one from getting to the 77 - 7 range. I would expect it to be closer to 63 - 0. -
Larkey is a very good high school football coach. :thumb:

Once the depth kicked in, this one was never in doubt. Go ahead and give Highlands their 7th title in a row. -

Does Dixie have more raw talent than CCH? -
I think we are pretty much on the same page, but I won't call this a nice win. It was a necessary win to keep the heat from going nuclear in Union. How far has this program fell since the win over Highlands?
-
Is it a nice win since it is over a county foe? If not, how so? Shouldn't Ryle be much further along with their program than to be a couple of blocked punts away from losing to Cooper?

Don't think I've ever seen a Boone team this small. The Hauck glory years are a distant memory. -
Is it? Isn't Cooper expected to be down from last season?

Boone is in complete rebuild mode. The Rebels were dominated on both lines of scrimmage. CovCath better shore up the pass defense. Boone had receivers open multiple times that could spell trouble with a more accurate passing qb. -
