D played pretty well.

Tough spot for the young Dressman to step into.

What will CCH do IF Wags is out?

I would consider moving #9 to the QB spot.

#9 has experience at QB, correct?

Smart move by CovCath staff to finally put the elder Dressman in the QB spot when in 4 down territory after maybe a 3 yard punt by Dixie. Run the ball every time and score.

Dixie can be really good if they take care of the ball and get special teams in order.

I think QB could have walked into Endzone at end of first half and instead threw an interception by putting ball where only CovCath could catch it.

Dixie answered some questions tonight. They are not the Dixie of past. Their defense flies to the ball. Their line was strong and got plenty of pressure. Offense was spotty but give them a chance and they'll get you. They will not be 3 and 8 this year.

Talked to Wags after the game. He will have an MRI tomorrow but right now it looks like an MCL injury from the td pass.

Bir could also miss some time.

Random thoughts:

1) Dixie is much improved over last year.

2) I thought Dixie won the battle in the trenches.

3) CovCath defensive ends were sucked in all night. Against a QB that doesn't throw that well and wants to tuck and run, why do you continue to go inside and not keep contain?

4) How many go two ways for Dixie? Felt they somewhat wore down in the 2nd and 4th quarters.

5) Thought Wirth should have gone for it on those two 4th and shorts. It worked out for the team in the end, but you could feel the momentum had shifted.

6) Why Dixie didn't pound the more after the first series confuses me. They had success, but went away from it too soon.

Yet CovCath managed a road win minus their starting QB and starting RB. Sounds like it was a true miracle.

When it was 14-13 and Dixie had the momentum, I got nervous. But then I remembered Brossart was coaching and relaxed quite a bit...

....and with kids dropping from and playing through cramps........very gutty performance.....from both sides.

You're not the only one questioning that. When they went with Owens, Caple, and Washington in the backfield and ran between the tackles, they probably averaged 4+ yards per carry. They did this on their first and last drives, and maybe once in between. I would've pounded it all night and kept CCH's offense off the field, or at least until they made adjustments to stop it.

Dixie has no receivers again, or all of CCH's db's are just studs. They really only got separation once on the last drive, and it was dropped. If only Moore could throw to himself.

Moore was off tonight from a passing standpoint. He under threw the receivers multiple times, and he threw a lot of floaters. The receiver didn't help him at all on the pick at the half. However, he can run very well.

This was a totally different Dixie team in week one compared to past years. I didn't notice any players really sucking wind. I don't think anyone went out with cramps. IMO, they looked very well conditioned.

I hope Wagner, Bir, and the coach/parent that collapsed are all OK. Bir looked like a shoulder or collarbone issue. He was tackled hard on the play.

Wow, this post is the one that troubles me most .:wideyed: Obviously at another game tonight and didn't see any kids dropping from cramps.:idunno:

I'm sure the trainors will get a handle on it. Can count 4 key players having to come out at critical times.......

.......also very happy to see the "parent" come up off the bench. Gave us a scare, but prayers were answered when he hopped up and walked off.
