Sad Day for Softball
Jennie Finch help her camp this weekend at JMU. Obviously she's a huge supporter of softball. Here's a little article from the school paper on the camp and about softball in the Olympics. Softball legend teams up with JMU to host camp - The Breeze: Sports Glad Maddy was able to work the camp over the two days.

Hard to leave wrestling out for sure but still sucks for the softball world.

Sad Day for Softball
I think everyone saw it coming but softball/baseball was once again help out of the 2020 and 24 Olympic games. Unfortunately softball needs the Olympic's way more than the Olympic's need softball. The top players can make so much more money with the Olympics. A lot of players have to go over seas to play now and work and play in the NPF to try and make a nice living. Very few of the top players can afford to work year round on their game. I know the NPF has talked about expanding but with players not able to decedicate 100% of their time to the league I am not sure it will ever really take off.

Libby Leedom - KY State Soccer Gatorade Player of the Year (back to back)
That sucks... Looking at Dayton's webite it looks like she has only played in 3 games, I wonder if she could get a medical redshirt.

2014 9th Region All "A" Tourney Bracket
If NCC does not win the All A this season they should fire their entire coaching staff or at least their score keeper.

Newport Central Catholic 3 Holy Cross 0 (girls)
How is Sam Bunzel (sp?) doing for NCC, I haven't read much about her this fall. I was thinking she would be one of the top players in NKY this year.

Nice read Q&A with Patty Gasso

Notre Dame 3 Highlands 0 (Girls)
Is it really that hard to have your coach or someone from each team call in a score, takes a couple minutes and very little effort. Why should skinny have to chase down scores from all the schools in the area and with all the different sports going on this time of year. If your coach doesn't care enough to call them in then maybe you don't deserve to be in the paper.

College softball
Just wanted to throw a little insight into a regular day so far for my daughter at JMU. Maybe we should rethink trying to get our kids into college!! Up at 4:30 am for weights running or both after shower and cleanup she's finished around 8 am. Class from 9am till 1:15 pm, this week individuals workouts anywhere from 2-5 lasting about 45 minutes. (Most girls stay on the field longer to get extra work in) After workouts usually at least an hour or two of study tables. 7pm most girls head back to softball complex to hit in small groups. 9pm more studing 10 to 11 pm in bed. This is Monday, Wednesday or Friday for her, Tuesday and Thursday are not quite as bad but close. Sounds like a lot of fun!! But it seems like she is really enjoying it so lets hope it stays that way!!

Fall ball
Let me guess there will be some wings consumed at this little meeting.

Fall ball
True you have a very nice field, you are in charge!

Fall ball
Why doesn't NKY just start up a fall league. Lawnboy can be in charge.

North Oldham Open
There are plenty non teachers that are not devoted also, see Holy Cross. (disclaimer did one hell of a job on field but really lacked in other areas) There are a lot of teachers and non teachers that do a great job also.

Dead Period
Not sure if it is or isn't but I stated before I had no clue when it was and I had a daughter play 4 years of soccer and 6 years of softball so for me yes it was meaningless.
-
Dead Period
I am guessing it's 20 to 1 that don't schedule vacations around the dead period. (I am sure I am way off but its fun to guess)
-
Dead Period
I am sure it has failed for many reasons, but the number 1 being the dead period.
-
Dead Period
Well lets just say we run in different circles then bc I don't know anyone that has scheduled a vacation around the dead period. Again not saying people don't its just I don't know of any. I can tell you for certain that there has been a HS summer league in years past its pops up every couple of years and its mainly for the girls that don't play summer ball but the main reason it fails year in and year out is bc of the dead period.

Dead Period
Of course they have more than one coach and yes kids will still play so why have the dead period? I really don't get the purpose of the rule doesn't seem to really have anything to do with the kids.
-
Dead Period
Again how many kids are helped out from the dead period? Maybe there are a lot but I don't know any.
-
Dead Period
No I am not sure it did affect my daughter, she never played club ball in softball or soccer for a HS coach. Not trying to blow it out of proportion just trying to have a discussion about it. Softball has figured it out just like baseball but does that make it right, IMO no. And yes you could have somebody else coach but is that right?
-
Dead Period
I am sure it does not have anything to do with softball or baseball but it does could affect these sports more than others which is my point. Is there really a need for the dead period? What does it really accomplish? Is there kids that are going 52 weeks a year bc of HS coaches. I agree the KHSAA doesn't worry about non-high school sports, I also believe that some of our top athletes will only be playing one sport in HS or maybe no sports in HS before to long.

That date works for me!
