Maddy said she enjoyed that part the most, she did more coaching in practice this spring than practicing but a lot of time some of the girls didn't have a clue what she was talking about.

Short guys from the Cleveland area get that way!!! Not sure many teams play harder than Laser Gold. Congrats to the Sluggers, they are the class of the state when it comes to fastpitch.

It would do more than pay for itself it probably pay for all female sports at the school. If they sold nachos there is an asst coach on HHS team that would spend his whold check there.

Not sure about that the JMU recruitment thread wasn't a big hit, I had no takers!

IMO no coach should have to pay for this out of pocket, every school should handle this for the coaches.

Through my years in softball and soccer we have had some really good parent coaches and 1 really bad we have also had non parent coaches again same thing some really good and really bad. Seems to me the parent coaches just care a little more and how can they not, but for reasons like this one all the good parent coaches get a bad name bc a parent votes for their child when she clearly may or may not be in the top 25 in the area.

Just a wild guess here but I would be willing to bet there was a lot of food at this banquet! Congrats to both Noelle and Jamie...i was lucky enough to know both these young ladies for a very long time...Noelle and my daughter played a couple years together when they were younger and I have known Jamie all her life...her dad and I grew up and played ball together and if it wasn't for me coping off her mom for approx 10 years I would have never made it out of High school or Elementary school!!

I would think any AD could...all they have to do is make it part of their job requirement. My boss makes me do all kind of things I don't want to do that's a lot harder than joining an association. Maybe we should focus our energy on the AD's...I am not a fan of parents running things but in this case I think they should know its important for our kids.

Sounds about right I guess....so if Ryle was the only school to attend and promote their player it makes sense that they win. I am almost glad they win if this is what really happens.... if they are the only coaches that want to promote their kids and do what they should be doing than good for them. I said earlier that I didn't think Ryle's coach deserved to win the award this year, I take that back I think she is the ONLY coach who deserves to win. (sorry softballfan!)

Yes that is what I am assuming, I could be wrong and if I am I am but neither the coach or the player would have been in my top 10 as far as the voting goes. They have both had a nice career but IMO neither are deserving this year. Of course my opinion does not matter and maybe other people see it different.

Ok not to sound like a complete donkey but what does everyone say or do. Do 9th region coaches think this is ok not to be members? Strickley as a parent this is not ok with me, it no longer matters for my kid but it could for kids down the line. If you are a coach and I know most at least read on here what are your reasons for not signing up bc I would think at least with the posters on here we can not find a good excuse not to. I think we need to start the NKY Softball Commission to out any coach or AD who hires a coach who is coaching for the wrong reasons or thinks its ok not to do what every other coach in other sports in the area has to do. Softball needs to quit taking a back seat to other sports, its not a rec league sport let's not treat it like one. I would like to see what would happen if Drew Barker didn't get nominated for awards in football or James Bolden or Brandon Hatton in basketball those coaches would probably lose their jobs. We have girls that are very close to those guys in respect to ability and or college offers but yet we as a softball community can not get our stuff together. I don't know all coaches in the area and almost all I do know do a great job so the above comment is only for a small percentage, but damn get your stuff together and get involved.

RCC9...you may want to talk to batboy about this but I think you have to wait a year before you get voting rights also so the sooner the better.

Great insight...thanks...I would say its very important for you to be a member....you have several girls that could have a chance to make all state down the road....at least if you nominate them you have done your part...if all the area coaches don't belong though your girls will probably not be chosen bc the coaches that know them best will be the nky coaches and that's where they would need to get there votes from. I would love for this to be a big topic at the next coaches meeting.

I would love to here from some coaches in the 9th as to why they are not members. There are always two sides to every story but for the life of me I can't see why I coach would not want to be a member. For the life of me I can't understand why any AD would not make their coach be a member.

Lawnboy, can you pass along to Kevin if the game has to be rescheduled for Tues Madyson and Grace will be unable to attend. They are catching a flight Tues morning for FL.
