  1. Heard BS retired Jack Givens jersey tonight. Surprised they hadn't done that years ago.
  2. I don't think anyone on here would disagree that school is more important than sports but sometimes roads are not safe at 6:00 am when the decision has to be made about school and then clear off in the afternoon so why cancel a game just because the roads were bad 12 hours before the game started. Rural schools with lots of back roads to cover would miss too many games if under a no school no play poicy. As far as the cold goes, if my son was going to be traveling on a bus today he would have had on coat, gloves, hat, and has been known to have a snuggie on the bus so if there had been a break down I'm sure he would have been fine for the 20 mins or so it would have taken me to get there to get him. A little preparation and common sense is all it takes.
  3. Cornbread reffed many of mine and my kids games. He used to be one of the best but I would say now has slipped to the middle of the pack. Very nice guy even though he tossed my dad once due to a "misunderstanding".
  4. I spoke with a dad from Canada this week while at a Christmas tourney and he told me they have a 24 second clock in high school. Needless to say they were having trouble adjusting to no clock. I would like to see a 35 or 40 second clock. I don't think it would change most games a whole lot but would help prepare those players who are moving on to the next level and make some games more exciting.
  5. Saw on twitter that he had a killer dunk as well
  6. The Williams and Shelton brothers are second cousins. I think I remember a big Williams girl on OC several years ago. Maybe a sister?
  7. Shout out to Hunter Trenary for the pass.
  8. You got some bad info. Carson was 5 for 9 from the line the previous game and 15 of 18 in this game. One detail of this game that has yet to be mentioned is the fact Owen had every starter foul out except for Williams who had 4 and another sub had 4 fouls. Mercer had no one foul out and were whistled for 10 less fouls than Owen. This had a big impact on the game. Congrats to Mercer on the win. They are a good team and played a great game.
  9. I saw something very similar to this from them during summer ball. I had never seem them before and was hoping this was not typical.
  10. Don't know about anyone else but my concern is just for the kid and would be the same no matter who the dad is or where he coaches. Sounds like Coach Cal handles it with class and hopefully his son is not bothered by it either.
  11. I don't think it is being made that big of a deal. I just find it in poor taste and yes, I'm sure we've all seen worse. I don't know Brad and have no idea if it bothers him or not but I would not allow the sign if I was the principal. I believe that Wireman said the sign disappeared so perhaps the principal or AD agrees with me.
  12. I had a high school ref tell me they have been directed to call the games like college. Confusion on the issue is not gonna help. The boys varsity game I watched last night had 49 fouls called.
  13. The Rebels traveled to Western Hills and won 72-45. Jarrod Ball had 19 pts, Carson Williams with 25 pts, 22 reb, and 5 asst.
  14. I think this goes too far. If I was the principal I would have taken the sign away. Let the man watch his kid and let the kid play. I'm sure that all gets really old. Agree or disagree??
  15. Kinda takes away from what, in my opinion, is the whole point and beauty of the All A Classic. Which is an opportunity for schools will a smaller talent pool to compete for regional and state titles. Yes, I know it has never been perfect and there are lots of examples of transfers legitimate and otherwise throughout the state but the situation here is extreme whether the KHSAA approves or not.
  16. After watching this video, I better make it in time for warmups a too...
  17. Carr had the green light at Grant and I would expect the same at SV. Good shooter who averaged about 20 pts per game, gets to the foul line and shoots well from there too. Seems to rebound well for a guard also.
  18. That's a good policy and I think when you see them play you will concur with most people's opinions on them.
