There were 59 fouls called in the girls' game I attended tonight. One girl had fouled out in the third quarter, and four others had four fouls.

All of them, with the new emphasis on calling games tighter.

I was told the NewCath girls game on Monday, both teams in the double bonus early 2nd quarter. :ohbrother:

Middle school is the same way. If your hand is on them it is a foul now. Our boys have adjusted.

I attended a girls varsity game tonight and there was a total of 18 fouls for the game. Neither team shot the bonus. Game had good flow and there wasn't any touch fouls being called. The officials let em play and there was no complaints from anyone. I think some regions are trying to confirm to the NCAA emphasis and that's not what the high school directives have been. Remember, there has been no rule changes!

I have only watched 4 college games so far this season. I'll tune back in once the parade to the free throw line stops.

Most games are like this right now. I went to a Morehead/Marshall game the other day that lasted 3 hours and featured 108 free throws. Three MSU players has 4 fouls in the first half.

College games are different than high school. No one has directed the high school officials to call the games like college. I think you will see a difference in how the games from region to region. Some will call the nonsense crap and others will let them play within the boundaries of the rules.

I watched about 3 minutes of a JV game last night and it was brutal. There were at least 15 whistles.

I heard from an 8th region official the other night they have been told not to call it so tightly. I have a buddy who refs in the 2nd region and they are told to call it very tightly. Perfect example of why you get so many fan complaints when a team from region A goes and plays a team from region B...the officiating can be drastically different and a lot of time the refs are being directed to do different things in different regions.

They have been told to call it tight. It came own from the state to the assigning secretaries.
