  1. Interesting feedback. Without question Ryle seemingly always has a very talented group of Freshmen. It's interesting to me that their offensive system has not seemed to change one iota on the Freshman level even with the brand new coach. Nor apparently has the notion of playing a select fraction of their roster both ways changed (per the observations made by posters here). I've never understood why, when you have 40-50 kids on your roster that you have so many playing both ways- in Freshman ball no less. Two onside kicks up 30? C'mon- indefensible. Who is the coach?
  2. Lot of points- on the ground? Through the air? Both?
  3. There is no Frosh "playoffs". There has been a Frosh Championship- but being as the Frosh regular season ends the same week as the Varsity regular season, I don't think there will be one this year.
  4. Since it was a Cov Cath home game it was a moot point- but when you play at Harrison Co, after the game is over, they make it a point to announce that fans are not allowed to be on the field.
  5. Where in the world did this happen and with what team?
  6. McGinness started and played them nicely to the running clock (till end of 3rd quarter). Limited by what he can do with his arm but is a great athlete. Adam Wagner actually came in for a couple plays (hand offs) toward end if 1st half. Mayer came in for a few plays and had some nice throws. Hentz played the entire 4th quarter and likewise made some nice throws. One in particular to a leaping France along the back of the end zone. Darlington held out- hopefully back for Holmes. Today was RB by committee with Alex Wagner supplying the bulk of the yards followed by Schrand. Defense played terrific- no wheel routes today- though they did love throwing to #11 who is a very nice player on both sides of the ball. Oh yeah- Cov Cath fans were allowed on the field! (Inside joke for those who have played at Harrison Co) Let's get healthy Colonels! Still lots of games left!
  7. Don't understand. Was Bryan Station going to do a QB quick punt or what? Why go for it so deep? With that little time left I'd even consider taking a Safety and taking my chances on the ensuing punt.
  8. This confirms exactly what I knew about your actual football knowledge. It's a read option and line play has everything to do with it.
  9. "Mom- someone is stalking me on the internet!"
  10. As a matter of fact, I don't think "all is well." The kids confidence is down and they hear outside people like yourself who get joy in spreading gossip. So yeah, I guess people like you do strike a nerve. Your wrong on this so face it- no kid is starting because Daddy called the coaches. After all his years in coaching and his years here at Cov Cath, you think all of a sudden Wirth is going to start listening to that kind of junk?
  11. Again- no one is starting (or playing starting minutes) who isn't : A) deserving of starting. Or B) starting because of an injury to someone else. The staff does not play those games with kids and parents. I never understood the need that some people have to report half baked truths - is it an inferiority complex? "Look at me! I know something!"
  12. Sorry- I can buy that a kid or two feel like they deserve more PT and approached the coaches about it (players are always encouraged to approach the coaches about how they can get on the field more) but no way did the coaches bow to their wishes or any parents wishes. That stuff doesn't fly with the staff and as I said- usually works in reverse. Any kid starting now in their current position or in a new position is doing so out of need- not because they threatened to quit. Further- if anyone here had the team and kids best interests in mind, they wouldn't go blabbing locker room rumors on a message board. It's always the vocal minority with an axe to grind that seem to have this need.
  13. What a load of crap. No one is starting that doesn't deserve to start. The kids who are starting now who didn't start earlier in the season owe that completely to the injuries on both sides of the line. The coaches would never bow down to some plea from a parent or player for more PT. If anything, that kind of behavior works in reverse. Of course the players are upset - losing kind of does that to a person. I would expect things to get back on track this Saturday.
  14. I can't give a top 10- haven't seen everyone and don't know names- So I'll answer a little differently. These are kids who I think we will hear good things from in the next few years. From my admittedly biased viewpoint here is what I have: From CCH Mayer- QB Maile- LB Dyer- RB Beagle- WR Christman - W Deters- LB DeFraites- Safety Ryle Jake Chisolm - RB I know they have several more- just don't know names Cooper Schlarman(?) QB/ Safety Highlands New(?)- #7. Just an athlete that can play anywhere Had a couple linemen who moved really well and played with a high motor Beechwood #32- RB. Very fast Several other good athletes SK Some nice sized linemen who played with high motors. Dixie Again- had a few very physical linemen who made things happen.
  15. No I am not a Mercy fan- but since you confess that you don't know yourself whether this is NDA's highest ranking ever, why even make a big deal about it? You think the readers here are writing this stuff down in a notebook for future reference? BTW- For someone who professes the need to post disclaimers and hard facts, you seem to have come up short in that department when it comes to your critique of how Cov Cath was awarded the NFL grant from the Bengals.
  16. Why the sarcasm? Just stated what they heard and asking a question.
  17. Yes- Always a couple in every crowd. Did I confuse you when I said "same as everywhere"?
  18. Ridiculous - sounds like butt hurt parents to me. Same as everywhere.
  19. On defense tonight, CCH was without: Zumdik @ Safety, DeMarsh @ Corner. On offense they were without: Wagner @ QB, Dressman @ QB and multiple spots, McDowell @ WR and Darlington @ RB after the 2nd play. Personally, I was give some optimism seeing what I saw on the field tonight. In less than a week, the players and coaches had to put together an almost entirely new game plan along with new formations and sets- playing backups and asking kids to step up. Which they did in a big way in the 2nd half. I saw a team that got smacked around on offense and a little on D, then get back up swinging. I am 100% confident that once this team gets back on the mend, all this drama will be in the rear view mirror. That's my two cents anyway. Congrats to Ryle tonight - and congrats to Cov Cath for getting your fight back.
  20. Again though- it's simply against the rules to play Frosh games past the varsity schedule and Frosh games are currently scheduled the same week Varsity ends. So unless the top two teams happen to play their last regular season game on a Wed then the championship played on the next day ( which would never happen IMO) it won't happen. I'm just speaking about the large school divisions schedule. No idea about the small schools.
  21. Wondering if a Championship game would even happen since the last scheduled Frosh games are the same week as the last regular season Varsity games and I thought the rule was that the Frosh games could not go past the Varsity regular season. May be one of those years that it just couldn't fit.
  22. I know that has to be at least the third or fourth goal line stand in the six games Cov Cath has played to either win or seal the game. Very resilient bunch on D. Young Colonels now 5-1 heading into what looks like an interesting game vs Conner next week. Only loss was a 6-0 setback vs SK on a reverse flea flicker in the closing minutes.
