Three score loss at home!

Three score loss at home!

yep.....Highlands football is crumbling before our eyes!

I will go out on a limb and say that they'll be fine in HS.

The greatest comeback story ever has to be the 1986 Highlands Freshman Football team. They were 2-6 that year I believe! Not very good at all. They finished their High School careers as the 1989 Class 3A State Champs. Current coach Brian Weinrich was a Sr on that historic team. Just goes to show you that you can't put too much stock into Freshman football. I think the 1996 3A State Champs were also not very good when they were Frosh as well. They went 15-0 that year and beat a pretty good Lou St X team in Lexington. Highlands Football is Highlands Football.....End of story!

I prefer to think of it as a preview of the 2017 State Champion BlueBirds...

Three score loss at home!

And your point?

HHS got beat by a better freshman team. It happens. It's alright. I think Conner will be added to the Varsity schedule in the coming years. Let's see in 2017 if they play what the results are. I"ll be here, will you?

And your point?

The end is near. Next year must be Covcath's year. Write off this class. All those things we hear from the naysayers.

Trying to put this one on track, I have seen a few freshman games this season and in this one came away very impressed with Conner QB #7 and RB #28 (Griffith/Wilson?) Anyway, QB has good size, nice footwork & throws a nice ball, see him as a nice dual threat in HS. (also had nice pick on D). RB/DB #28 is tough kid, very athletic with good speed. Tackled well, received from backfield well and had nice KO return that really changed the game. These two carried this team athletically &btw, #74 is a "biggin" that moves well for his size playing LB.

On the HHS side #7 New is always impressive, everywhere, all over. Thought HHS started to show some depth at receiver with a lot of different players involved as they played catch-up and lost their running game.

It was freshman football, could go either way if they played again. The take away: Conner has several really nice athletes from this class, HHS; see a lot of potential as well.

#1 from highlands Braden Posey had 2 of best TD catches I have seen last night. He had to have had 7 catches well over 140 yds in the 1st half!!

The Conner QB has really good size. Nice arm strength for a frosh.
