  1. It would appear that Greenup runs an offense very similar to Johnson Central- running out of wishbone and flexbone type formations. If Wirth has proven one thing over the past couple years it is that he has figured out how to defend against this scheme - notably against Johnson Central. You must be very assignment sound and disciplined. Sometimes it doesn't matter if you have a stud or two running it. I though last year JC was primed to beat Cov Cath and witnessed as complete a performance on both sides of the ball by Cov Cath as I had seen all year. I think Cov Cath wins this one comfortably and the game makes for a nice tune up before JC as it always helps to run against a similar scheme the week before giving you a chance to shore up deficiencies and assignments. I also think Cov Cath is getting healthier and - if not full strength against Greenup- should be much more so against Johnson Central.
  2. The reality is that you have no more idea than the man on the moon who SK schedules since no responsible person at SK should ever consider feeding you info.
  3. I understand you are frequently confused so that's not unexpected. You see- folks were talking about Varsity.
  4. OLB - depending on the Defensive formation you may have seen him slide down closer to the middle.
  5. If you've watched Cov Cath since Beechwood when both Wagner and Dressman went out, the staff was forced to change things up a bit by going with a more run heavy game with McGinnis at QB. Legs very good- arm not as much. Darlington went out early in the next game vs Ryle forcing them to bring Alex over to RB. Add to that a couple games on two sloppy fields where the pass game is a risk and the run game has developed even more. Now that Adam Wagner appears to be back in the saddle and once Darlington returns and they get all their weapons back to full strength, this wrinkle can only help with the playoff run. Alex has been a stud this year and his value can't be emphasized enough. More weapons = more options to defend = good thing. BTW- Pitzer has been playing OLB all year. I think Sammons at MLB got dinged up a game or so ago and Shelton has stepped up nicely in that role.
  6. Don't know- but it's been scheduled this way for awhile.
  7. Darlington still out. Hopeful for next week. Dressman still limited. Didn't see any action tonight. Had a couple kids get dinged up, but not sure extent- optimistic that they are OK. It can't be said enough- that field is awful. Thankfully the really hard rain didn't start coming down till they had a few minutes left in the game. Conner played very hard the whole game- they should hold their heads up. Line for Cov Cath ultimately imposed their will and that was the ball game.
  8. Honestly, I think I would prefer to a shotgun snap (as. Cov Cath and Conner do anyway) in those conditions than under center. Grabbing a slick ball from one set of hands to another is tougher IMO, than flipping it back and catching it.
  9. OK- you've proven how little you know about the situation and you have an agenda or an axe to grind. 1) There was never a time Cov Cath was late in the play clock and 2) they had multiple good drives in the second half that got deep into Ryle territory, but turned over on downs or plain turned over.
  10. So the Beechwood kids using the mechanical bullhorn during play should stop. Yes?
  11. It should be - as should the ridiculous bullhorn complete with sirens etc that the Beechwood student have started to use. I say started, because I honestly don't remember hearing this last year or year prior. Go old school with the big megaphones or nothing else. The electronic and mechanical noisemakers shouldn't be allowed.
  12. Actually this year, yes, they had @ 50. Last year close to 40. Not sure about previous years, my memory doesn't go that far. Yes, AJ Mayer has all the tools to be a top flight QB. Great kid. Plays basketball and baseball too I believe.
  13. I don't buy the inexperience card. Thought I heard or read that this group either won outright or went deep into the state middle school playoffs last year. Were they also inexperienced last year when they played almost everyone both ways- and the year before that? Just don't get the point.
  14. No spin here. Ryle ran it down Cov Cath's throats. Cov Cath had there own very good success on offense. No one cheated- all was done fairly. Just to be clear though- this was not a championship game. There is no championship game for the Frosh this year. This was just the last game of the year. The point about development being, with @ 50 kids on the team, why does Ryle feel like they need to start so many kids both ways? Seems to happen every year. Do they feel like that's a good recipe for future success?
  15. What part did the former Bengal play in the "disorganized" approach? The part where Cov Cath ran for @ 200 yards- or the part where they passed for @ 200 yards? Cause I'm not following. Ryle's offense ran it down their throat- couldn't stop it- no one could this year. Not making excuses but that's the facts. Cov Cath had a terrific year IMO- last minute loss to SK, OT loss to Conner in a mud pit and this loss. Developed the kids on both sides of the ball. There will be some names to listen for in the years to come out of this bunch.
  16. I don't some can read too well. Once again- Frosh can not play any games past the Varsity regular season. This is why they are not having a formal Championship game this year.
  17. Your logic is astounding It's like reading 4 + 4 = apples
  18. And your excuse for SK losing to Dixie (who Cov Cath wrecked) was what? Oh yeah, " they let them win". You've become a caricature of yourself.
  19. Not making excuses, but just reporting facts- in fact, Wagner went out of the game on @ the 5th offensive play for Cov Cath. Dressman- who has not played more than a handful of snaps all year at QB due to a nagging injury - came in and played the remainder of the game up till late in the 4th when he got hurt and McGinness took over. Losing your starting QB (who was playing like one of the top QB's in N Ky) early in your first drive would hurt any team. Would Cov Cath have beaten Beechwood with Wagner? Don't know, but would have been a much different game. As it was, they still had some shots, but the defense did not stop Beechwood when they had to- and the offense did not sustain drives when they had to. This is also the same game where Cov Cath lost a starting Corner and Strong Safety.
  20. No idea- maybe just the way the calendar worked out. Everyone got 9 games in so not much to complain about IMO. I'm sure it's not the first time.
  21. The reason is because the regular season for the Frosh "big schools" concludes tonight and tomorrow and by rule their season can not run past the Varsity regular season which concludes this Friday. Thus not permitted to play a championship game next week.
  22. No there will not be a big school championship. This is the last week of Frosh regular season games as well as the last week of Varsity games and rules prohibit Frosh playing past Varsity's regular season.
  23. Can't answer the 2 point try, but they did not put the Starting D "back in" late in the game. They started situationally subbing once they got the running clock. Don't try making it something that wasn't.
