5A Conner has obviously had its struggles this season, coming into the last game of the regular season with a 3-6 record. 2014 has been a tough year on the Cougars. It's also been a tough year on the 4A Covington Catholic Colonels as well. Riddled by injuries, Cov Cath has struggled its way through the regular season to come into the last week with a 5-4 record, with many key starters still questionable for return even with the playoffs looming. Who wins it this week in Hebron?

As much as I like Conner, realism prevails. CovCath wins. They are just a better team even though its a down year for them. Sorry Seniors, I hope I am wrong and you pull one out for the win. Stay healthy for Franklin County.

Going with the Colonels in this one. It was nice to see Wagner back at the helm last week. He looked sharp.

Go Colonels.

Hate for the CCH seniors missing so much of their final year. Hope they get a chance to get back on the field.

I don't know if anyone would remember, but the '96 Conner/Cov Cath game (at Conner) was a NASTY cold and rainy night. As a (backup) center, I remember spending a extra 45 minutes solid on gameday giving snaps to the quarterback to practice two-handed snaps rather than the one-handed snaps we ran day in and day out. There must have been a solid 2" of mud on the field by kickoff - not entirely unlike the '97 Mud Bowl at Highlands.

I don't think I've ever seen game of more basic football fundamentals played by anyone than the game played at Conner that night. If you don't have your handoff exchanges clean and down pat in normal situations, then there's no way they're going to happen in those weather conditions. If you don't have a firm exchange at the snap in normal conditions, then there's no way the ball won't make its way out in those conditions. Ball protection, staying low, centers of gravity, small steps on the line....games in the rain and mud are ALL about fundamentals.

Tough one. I will

say CCH gets their offense going and wins 38-13

I heard from Coach Stamm today that there will be no broadcast on ConnerCougarFootball.com. CovCathInternetRadio will be there I'm sure.

Why no Conner broadcast?

Honestly, I think I would prefer to a shotgun snap (as. Cov Cath and Conner do anyway) in those conditions than under center. Grabbing a slick ball from one set of hands to another is tougher IMO, than flipping it back and catching it.
