Overrated. That's what the Boyle radio guys said.

Mercer County 31 Boyle County 30
They overachieved all season and lived off of their past success. I tried to tell people that but nobody wanted to listen.

Guess who's back? No slick comments tonight? Titans got your tongue?

Boyle County 2013
I was wrong. It sucks to admit that but I was wrong. Having seen Boyle and Mercer play it is easy to see who the better team is. My exuberance got the best of me. It sucks to say it but I don't think Mercer will ever be better than Boyle. This year was their best chance. Boyle is young. They should only get better. I was wrong.

Why did Covington Catholic cancel their JV game with Highlands?
Seems simple to me. Short week, injuries and CCH would get smashed by Highlands even if they were healthy. I'd cancel the game too if I was CCH.

Nobody stopped you from starting the thread with your own poll in it.

Mercer County 2013
I keep telling people that Mercer County is going to surprise them this year and be much better than people think. I can't wait until I am right. Once Boyle goes down I'll be sure to remind you all.

Cordia 2013/2014
While some people or most people frown on kids transferring into Kentucky schools I kind of like it. Kids from other places are coming to Kentucky and helping to turn basketball programs around isn't a bad thing at all. It's better than watching Kentucky kids transfer out of state.

Is the Coach Teaching the Right Life Lessons?
It doesn't matter what they do. People will cry about Trinity and Highlands regardless.

Is the Coach Teaching the Right Life Lessons?
I can understand and respect a parent's decision if they chose to sit their kid. I don't think I would sit mine but I am still young and don't have kids so that feeling may change as I get older and hopefully have kids. It's easy for me to say how I feel now but without having kids it's hard to make an accurate guess on what my mindset would be at that time. As of today without any kids or experience parenting I'd be fine with letting my kid play after the coach scheduled two games for my kid to miss.

But he didn't skirt the rules. The rules say the kid has to sit out for two games so he sat out two games. Works for me. I don't blame the coach one bit. It's a pretty smart move on his part to do something like that within the rules.

Pleasure Ridge Park 3 Mercer County 2 (8 innings) (State Championship)
Tough loss for Mercer County who is now officially a baseball school. Expect to see Mercer back in the state tournament soon. They return a good core of their talent and have some good young talent expected to make an impact immediately. The future looks bright and Coach Shope has proven to be the right man to lead the Titans. Congrats on another tremendous season. Keep your heads up, boys. You have made us all proud.:thumb:

Is the Coach Teaching the Right Life Lessons?
Uhhh, they made it to the state Final Four. At that point winning is the only thing and if you think otherwise then you are lying to yourself. Nobody who has made it that far is there for the experience or the life lessons.

Is the Coach Teaching the Right Life Lessons?
Who cares about the spirit of the rule? He didn't break a rule and frankly I applaud him for thunking on his feet and doing what he can legally do to have his team at full strength for the tournament. I also applaud him for not overscheduling his team and allowing some wiggle room to even be able to schedule two extra games at the last minute. I think the better question is how in the hell are regular season games being played in between tournament games. That is nuts.

Exactly. Great example.

It isn't a big deal at all. The ump was right and the coach was definitely right.

Newcomers to look for next year
We get pretty spoiled on BGP don't we? Instead of being grateful to people like Walter who are always quick to put what they know on BGP we criticize and kick them for what they don't put on here.

Mercer County 2013
I'm looking forward to the next 4 years of Mercer football and praying that Pardue stays and that he is allowed to build this program the way I feel he will. The talent is there to finally get the Titans to where the true fans feel they can be and that is competeing with the likes of Boyle County and Lexington Catholic yearly for a district title. Baby steps must be taken first but I feel like this is the year we arrive at Boyle County's doorstep. Similar talent level at both schools for the next 4 years so hopefully the Titans take the first step to proving themselves.

Mercer County 2013
I've said it too many times already. Mercer County will beat Boyle County this year. I can't wait until it happens because it's going to.
-
Boyle County 2013
I have no clue what Mercer's goals are. I imagine it is to win a state championship. Their goals and my expectations for their season are two different things and are not related. Any team not named Lexington Catholic who expects to finish better than 2nd place in the district is lying to themselves.

Boyle County 2013
No Mercer fan than knew what they were talking about would have dared say they would dominate 5A. Every fanbase has their blind diehard fans and Mercer is no different. That being said I do find it funny that no one knows anything about Boyle County this season but they are still being hailed as "Boyle County". People are in for a rude awakening. Real fast.

Boyle County 2013
Boyle County is going to hit rock bottom before they rise back up.
-
Boyle County 2013
You must know something the rest of us don't. I don't see Boyle County being the Boyle County you expect to see showing up anytime soon.

But even with all of that the cupboard wasn't bare like it is now.

Bolden Gets Another Offer
If Bolden gets to go to UK he'll be on the same team as Hawkins. Who cares who is better if two Kentucky kids get to live the dream and play for UK? This is comedy.
