This will be a good early season test for both teams. Probably a one or two run game either way. Should be fun to watch.

Keep an eye out for Blake Roedersheimer (sp?) the Junior catcher over at Boone. I saw him last year and he's going to be a good one.

It's February 25th and all is good in Florence at Boone County. There are no injury concerns at this time of the year.

Not true, most 7th & 8th graders are better off playing select ball in the Spring with their select teams. There are some high schools that have have decent Frosh teams/programs but not many. If you are a really good player and have a really good select team/organization, i.e. Midland, Flames etc. you're better off playing the Spring & Summer with your select team.

Trey is a really good player and a terrific kid. Any team would be lucky to have him in their line up. Great kid!

I think you missed my over all point. I don't and most scouts and/or college coaches don't attend an 18U game looking for an 18U player in the summer. I/They are looking for the stud that's playing up. I have no doubt that a really good 16/17U player can play for a 16/17U team. I/They are looking for the 16/17U player that can hit a two run double off a D1 18U pitcher who's throwing 90 plus. That's where you can separate the really good players from the average one's.

Absolutely there is still a need for 18U summer teams. When I go out to take a look at an older team the first thing I ask when I see a player that looks really good is how old he is. There are alot of younger players (16/17) that play up on a 18U team simply because they are just that good. Alot of times after doing some digging you find out that the player is also playing up because they understand that these coaches also have really good relationships with college coaches because they've been doing this for a pretty long time. The good ones can really help the player with the recruiting process and help them get a foot in the door with a college coach.

I saw Ganns a couple of times last year, really nice pitcher! I'm sure NKU will be really pleased with him.

There are two really good junior catchers in NKY. Luke Hanigan over at Highlands and Blake Roederscheimer at Boone County. They both defend really well and they both can rake.

They have no focus or understanding of the game. Just seems like (as mentioned previously) they are there to collect a check and have no integrity or respect for the game, players or coaches. In other regions of the country there just seems to be a better understanding of the overall game and how to umpire/manage the game compared to NKY. Calls will missed that's human nature, but the overall lack of understanding of the game itself and how to manage a game is just crazy.

Ganns is the real deal, he pitched a great game. Congrats to the Boone team.

I see alot of games at the high school level and I have to say that NKY has some of the worst umpires that I've ever seen. The last thing that should be on an umpires mind at the high school level is throwing a player out of game. Unless the player has done something really wrong, i.e abusive language, started a fight etc. then there's no reason to eject a hs player. The play last night was a complete over re-action by the umpire and IMO he should be sat down and talked to by the powers at be. Obviously there was contact but as many have already pointed out it was more of a self defense thing by the runner than anything else. Frankly the umpire should be ashamed of himself.

Agree this was fun to watch but also interesting to watch how the game unfolded and see how the good ball players were able to adapt on both sides. I was very impressed with quite a few players. As for the call in the 7th, very bad call by the umpire. I'm also very interested in the Boone Conner game tonight and how some of the talent for those two schools stack up with what I saw last night. Should be another interesting and entertaining game tonight.

I cover alot of players in the tri-state area and Tiberi is definitely one of the best. Congrats!

I've seen alot of Meyerhoff teams over the years when he was at Beechwood and he can flat out coach. I guarantee that when this group of JV players gets to varsity next year Coach Huff will be happy he brought coach Meyerhoff to Boone.

I have seen all of the teams in the region as well and I agree with Bluebird. Lawhorn is also a really nice pitcher. Cooper as a team had alot of pre-season hype but has done nothing this year.

I've scouted two of Cooper's games this year and they have a few nice players but I didn't see anything special as far as an overall team. Both games were mis-managed and the players looked very disinterested. Dunn is a very nice pitcher but beyond him the rest of the staff is average at best. Their fielding was also very suspect in those two games and their catching was weak. I'm obviously not close to the situation but from a distance they don't look good at all.

I think this thread is way off track with all the stuff about who did what, called what etc. I was there and all that needs to be said is Dunn pitched a heck of a game. Congrats to Dunn and Cooper!

All of the players mentioned are really nice players and have very bright futures. I will definitely have to catch some Cooper games this year, sounds like they are really loaded and poised to win a ton of games. I guess Cooper is considered the class of the 9th region.

I scouted Stringer and Combs last year and they are both for real. There's no crystal ball to predict the future but barring any injuries they will both either play D1 or be drafted out of H.S. and go pro. These guys are two of the best 15 year olds that I've seen over the years and I have a few years under my belt.

I do alot of scouting so I think what Mr. Hellbird is saying is that there's a right time and a wrong time for small ball and that an offense/team/coach needs to be able to adjust to what the game is dictating. Every game is a little different.

Just sounds like they will be very tough to beat. You can never have enough good players and it sounds like they will be loaded at pitching.

Wow, Sounds like Cooper is loaded and will be the class of the 33rd district. With all of that talent Cooper should win a bunch of games.

Are you referring to the Roederscheiner (sp?) kid that transfered from Cooper to Boone back in the fall? Saw him a couple of times last year really nice player with a alot of up side.
