Cooper will be interesting this year because they have some young talent in the pipe line. They have a Soph named Roedersheimer who played JV last year that could definitely help them at second base and catcher. Saw him over the summer on his Bluegrass team and this kid's going to be a stud.

Why are they dragging their feet?

Have they even interviewed anyone yet?

Mullins seems like a good choice but isn't there anyone that was on Myerhoff's staff or at the Freshman/JV level that is qualified?

I think it's time to put this thread to rest and move on.

Sometimes change for the school, the administration and the coach is a good thing. Sounds like it's just time for both to move on in a different direction and get a fresh start.

Thanks for sharing the rule. Bottom line is the ump should have excused himself from the game knowing there was a potential conflict with his nephew playing for Ludlow. If he has done other games this year with Ludlow then shame on him for doing those also. It doesn't matter who compalined about what call, it's just bad judgement on his part for taking the assignments knowing there's a potential conflict of interest.

Totally agree. It's the umpires responsibility to speak up once he is aware that there is a potential conflict of interest.

It's just ashame that the umpire didn't excuse himself from the game before the game started. That probably would have been the "correct call". There's no way a relative should be allowed to ump a game like this.

I agree with not cutting the high schoolers to make room for the younger players who aren't at the school but once they are there I think they should not only keep the better players but play them regardless of their class rank. If you have an underclassmen who's better than the older player(s) then the younger player should play. I don't believe in playing the elder classmen just to keep parents happy. That seems ridiculous to me. It's almost like the parents of the younger player have to apologize because their son is a better ballplayer.

The age thing is always tricky for the kids that have summer birthdays. Got a chance to catch the Ryle JV vs. Cooper JV last night and both catchers can flat out play. Brownell (Ryle) and Roedersheimer (Cooper) are both Freshmen and both are very good. Both block and throw really well and both can hit. Should be bright futures for both.

I can see it from both sides but why is it wrong to promote a talented ball player? I don't think it should matter what grade the player is in. If you have a talented 8th grader I think you take him. If the 9th grader is that bad then you really aren't doing him any favors by keeping him around and letting him sit the bench. Once you hit 8th/9th grade you should be able to understand and except the fact that there are differences in your ability vs. someone else.

There's a Freshman catcher over at Cooper (Blake Roedersheimer) who's playing JV and is terrific. Receives the ball better than anybody I've seen at that age. Also blocks really well and is a terrific hitter. With a little experience and maturity is going to be really good.
