Ok. I was a second late on my post.

From what I was reading earlier, McGovney had the hot hand from 3. Haven't heard him mentioned since. The offense runs through him. They need to get the ball in his hands to make things happen.

Weyer may be one of the best all around players in NKY. That kid can do it all. Finish inside strong, shoots well from outside and is a defensive beast. He blocks a lot of shots and is a solid rebounder. Pretty sure he was around 8 on the best player in NKY list before the season started in an earlier thread and I said he should be up around 5. I now say he is top 3.

I will throw a NKY player in there. Ben Weyer from NewCath. Kid has been on fire all season.

I heard he got sick after the game as well. I wasn't there but was told this. Guessing it's correct. Hopefully he feels better. This flu bug can drain you for days after.

Nothing flashy, just hard work and 33pts is the end result. Great game by Weyer. Hopefully he starts getting credit for the season he has had thus far from others around the state, heck even NKY. Hey college coaches...where you at???

I apologize. I should have said no D1 or D2 offers. I think he is deserving of either.

Weyer with 33pts. No D1 offers yet really amazes me. This kid has proven he can hang with some of the best players in the state and other states as we have seen tonight. Think it's time he starts getting some mention as a top player in the state as well.

There was some questionable calls both ways. I would find it very hard to question their ranking after only seeing one or two games. #22 for Cooper can flat out play and #5 was very impressive for a frosh. NCC did not play well overall. Didn't do a very good job of switching on defense and allowed some open looks that Cooper knocked down. Cooper just outplayed them at times. In the end Weyer and McDonald proved to be the deference. Moeves had a really good game as well. Wish I would have see a little more of Pangallo but he got in early foul trouble. His defense caused some issues for Cooper in the 2nd half. Shout out to Brian Anderson for a good shooting and defensive game. Cooper is a well coached team and could make a good run through the 9th this year.

I agree. Wilson should be higher as well.

I think Weyer is definitely better than 9th on this list. You can make an argument for him being as high as #5. He will let his game do the talking though. Would wager to say he is in the top 5 before seasons end. Probably one of the hardest workers in the 9th. If teams double down on McDonald then Weyer could have a HUGE season!

I believe Bell Co. actually had to forfeit the 1991 game. They also beat Highlands 10-7 in 1993 in the Thoroughbred bowl.

HMS sweeps Grey Middle School tonight. 7th grade wins 45-7. Rebounding and defense were excellent tonight. Shot well from the floor tonight as well. 8th grade was dominating when I left at the end of the 1st quarter. Coffey was on fire tonight. Think she might have had 12pts in the first quarter. Go Birds!

RCC9 can probably confirm but I believe HMS starts the season with a sweep of Camp Ernst last night. 6th grade game was close in the 1st quarter but HMS ran away with it after that. 7th grade game, I thought would be closer. Camp Ernst has some good size at the 7th grade level and seem very athletic. Not sure if they just had an off night the 2nd smallest girl on either team is pulled down 3 boards in 4 mins.Game was never close as HMS shot well from the field and rebounded well. The key to HMS 7th grade is their defense. Probably one of the best defensive teams in NKY. I saw the 1st half of the 8th grade game and the score was actually close but HMS was controlling tempo and were all over the boards. Love seeing paint penetration from Coffey, Jansen, and Buecker. Cannot see any team beating this 8th grade team this year unless they get into foul trouble.

I am not trying to discredit any of the other players around here. I am just going with my opinion of who I have seen. Maybe I should have been a little more clear on my comparisons as well. Let's me restate that then...the best NKY player that I have seen since Walz and I am talking middle school wise not Varsity level. There are some very good 8th graders in NKY but I have only seen a handful of them play.

I am not saying its a Boone County rule or anything. I am just saying that is what Ryle decided to do. They said that they could not play Freshman or JV. Unless they think those 3 middle schoolers can hang at the Varsity level and didn't even offer them a freshman or JV spot.

The Boone County school that people are referring to is Ryle and they have a 7th grader and at least two 8th graders playing Varsity. They were not allowed to play JV or Freshman. I have no problem with middle school athletes playing high school sports but 7th and 8th graders playing varsity seems a bit of a jump. They do not allow it for "contact sports" but I have seen just as bad "contact" on a basketball court than a soccer field. I will say this though, the 7th grade girl playing for Ryle, is the best girls basketball player that I have seen since Walz. Not sure how she will be this year, playing against grown women but if anyone can hang it would be her.
