Combs is actually very young, just turned 16. Man's body,baby's face. Both of them played for Midland in the summer of their 8th grade year, who knows if either could have played varsity at their respective schools, but I would think so. These are not cases of the big hairy kid outplaying all his pre-pubescent bros. They do it at high levels, and both have had no issues competing at the varsity level since day 1. Brayden moved to BW district in 6th grade, Ethan is a tuition kid that still lives in the Scott district, that was never an option is what I have learned on here over the years. Been beaten to death.Neither have ever been held back, just good genetics (both dads are huge) and god given talent.

Simply meant BW threw off vs Conner, was in middle of all A and district play and short on arms. Conner threw Ross, BW threw a kid who is not a pitcher. Game was over before it startes, was a snooze fest. Tonight would have been same.

He could do both. UK has a kid right now that is a weekend starter on the hill, and plays 1b the rest of the time. Always in lineup to hit.

I have not seen Ryle play this year, but last year I would have led this conversation with Mason Forbes. I am sure that hasnt changed. Usual names, Whitford, Combs, Stringer, Suchanek also. A kid that needs consistency but hits the ball as hard as anyone is Todd Ramey. Crazy pop in that bat. Zach Pangallo has battled back from a hoops injury, but IMO will always be in this conversation. Not sure there is a better groupung than that first four at BW? All 4 of them ovee .500, I believe 9 HR between them.

I believe D1 football gets 85. No clue why, my guess is its a Title 9 thing.

Nobody is questioning the kid, in fact if he took the ball Saturday hes quite the gamer. Had to be some arm fatigue. Understand both games Saturday were a defensive train wreck.

Wow. I got chewed out on here for questioning the BW coach for bringing a kid in cold from the OF. I guess that can be a matter of opinion, but this one is flat wrong. No offense to your team, but in the gran d scheme what did this game really mean? To run that kid back out there is inexcusable.

Are you sure Fieger threw? He pitched vs Cov Cath Tuesday night, I assure you he threw 100 pitches. To bring him back on 3 days rest would be nuts?

Highly doubtful. A D1 program has 11.7 schollies to divvy up among 27 aid players. Doubt an in state OF warrnets a full one. They normally consist of tuition and books, and then look for academic monies to make up difference. No way a soph will have a clue about academic aid yet.

You guys are something else. I hope if young Mr. Stringer reads this he realizes who the audience is here. A bunch of bitter old men who are living vicariously through a bunch of kids. For every young talent, there are three Old Sports Dads telling them how it used to be done "back in the day". Give me a team full of kids with half the passion to play this game and improve, and I will win. I do find it comical no mention of the other 10 BW kids that had eye black on. Paint it up young man. Curious if any of you naysayers even know this kid? I would encourage you to do just that, and try to get past your antiquated bias when you watch him, watch the little things. The hustle. He is the first one out of the dugout to greet a teammate. He is the one hugging the opponent win or lose. So he is not stoic like Braden is. There is a place for both and all. Braden is a magnificent talent who just goes about his game like a silent assassin. That works for him. Ethan likes the swag, someone on here last year compared him to Brady Hightchew. I have been to HS baseball games all year, every team has multiple players committing the dastardly sin of wearing eye black, yet we don't complain or call them out. Why? Because they aren't any good. Bottom line, you guys root for failure. Heck, I know that the LF, 2B, C, 1B, and half the bench had on eye black for BW the other night, yet we don't call them out. For the love of God get off the kids back. If he doesn't something that warrants hostility, pile on. But eye black? Really? That takes away from the team? Puleeez.

No, try to understand. How many times do you see players brough in cold without the opportunity to warm up? Should not happen, and the was avoidable and has been a recipe for disaster in the past. He should know that. There may be some kids that can do that, Ethan apparently cannot.

LOL. Yes, you are right. It was attitude and "war paint" that caused his issues. Couldn't have been the fact that he was brought in stone cold from CF in a hostile environment by his coach, who should know better. Kid always has and always will have games where he can't find it, he is not a pitcher (but a thrower), but anyone that pays attention to him should know better and give him ample time to warm up and realize what works and what doesn't. He has to know Kyle was running up against his pitch count. Maybe keep him in for the top of the inning and let him throw? Surely there is someone on the bench that can play OF? I was not only about to get kicked out by the ump, but was close to telling the BW coach what a ridiculous position he put Ethan in. Had no issues with the strike zone of the ump, occasionally you run across a guy that simply has no clue how to call balls and strikes and learn to live with it, he probably needs the money. But surely he knows he isn't any good, so at some point drop the attitude.

Also just snuck a peek at BW sked. This weekend features games vs CAL and Tates Creek, and a third vs a team Ive never heard of. Very well could throw the towel in on this one tonight.

Dont really know who else. Certainly not unprecedented for him to throw off. Did so vs LaSalle and Conner as well, with the later being right before an All A game. Not sure how that tourney works, but a state tourney in mid season seems to wreak havoc on rotations.

Both of these teams will be in regional. Considering Mullins quotes, no way he throws Suchanek. Combs threw Saturday and Stringer is the closer, so that leaves the Fieger kid as my guess. I will go with CC 5-3 in a good one.

Marksberry seeking the path of least resistance comes as a shock? He has built his career on it, and the fine people of Independence have bought it hook line and sinker. Some creative scheduling and the blessing of the growth of S Kenton County has just about everything to do with their success, and I would argue they win in spite of that guy.

Where is the outrage? 25-0 is less offensive than 27-1? Lots of transparent hypocrisy around here.

Good weekend for NKY teams. Ryle, Cooper and BW all go 3-0 with some pretty good wins in there. This could be the year a northern team makes some noise down state.

Chirp alert. I know, shame on me for glorifying the same kids. Sorry, its the only info I get. Beech Bum, if you attend these, maybe you can give some love to the other kids, who certainly deserve it. Per PBR, Stringer started, had a rough first which I understand was wildness. Gave up 5, but regrouped and went 5. Slusher with huge HR to start 9 run second, also tripled later in inning. Stringer with 2 run single in same inning, and Combs capped it with his GS, his second HR this week. Tigers now have HRs from each of top 4 in lineup, plus another one from another kid. That wraps up 7 games in 6 days for them, sure they need day off. On the day, Combs stays red hot, 3-5. Slusher 3-4, Stringer 2-4, the three combined for 12 rbi. I heard it was actually a clean defensive game, but mn what a wild one. Rocks made it intetrsting with 5 in last couple innings to fend off the run rule
