Beechwood 4 Bishop Brossart 3

Featured Replies

What a game! BW is down 3-0 in the 7th and they plate 3 runs with the BOTTOM OF THE LINEUP. Then Stringer goes yard with a man on to make it 5-3 BW. But wait. Stringer does not touch the plate with the entire team waiting for him and he gets called out on a heads up appeal by Brossart. Then Brossart puts their lead-off man on and got him to second with one out. The next batter hit a ball over second base and BW's 2b made a great backhanded stab and doubled the runner off. Game over. On to Lexington.

I must add that it was a treat watching Suchanek and Verst on the bump in this game. Both went the distance and until the 7th Verst was in command.

How many games can a team play during the regular season and do these All A games count as one total or each one on its own?

Nice work Tigers, must have been a good one to watch. I spent the evening in Florence watching Ryle vs Moe. I shoikd have went to this one.

Awesome game! Nate Verst is a great pitcher! Strong on offense as well. Felt bad for him after the game--he gave it his all. Congrats to the Tigers on a nice comeback. Very proud of the bottom of the Tiger lineup, who doesn't always get a lot of credit. A special tip of the hat to Robby Rundle with a big hit to tie the game. Nice job off the bench by Bankkemper as well. Hopefully the Tigers are back on track!

I'm beginning to feel as though we are ill-fated this year. Basketball we get beat at the buzzer by St. Mary in the "A" State after being up 5 with a minute to go. Districts we can only muster 44 going 1-15 from "3" and only get the the FT line four times, to a team we have beaten by 19 earlier, who then go on to win the region.

Tonight we are in the best position we could possibly be in going into the Beechwood 7th. Up 3-0 and our ace Nate Verst in complete command having allowed only 0 runs/3 hits w/7 ks to this point and rolling merrily along. He gets the leadoff hitter - 1 out, and then like a bad joke Beechwood gets four consecutive singles to tie the game at 3s and then the leadoff hitter hits a two run (which would become a 1 run) home run to take the lead. We fight back with a leadoff single, a sacrafice, and then what appears to be a bloop single to right which would have least put runners on the corners with one out and Nate Verst at the plate. No wait - the second baseman makes a circus catch, they double off the runner on second and that quickly it's over, we lose and Beechwood is going to Lexington. What a gut punch.

Congrats to Beechwood!!!! Good luck in Lexington.

Suchanek pitched a heck of a game. Hamilton, Rundle, and stringer with clutch hits. That was a crazy game and congrats to the tigers!

Chad Nussbaum was the 2nd basemen that made the play to end the game. What a grab and throw to end it.

Hats off to Verst he pitch an outstanding game and has nothing to be ashamed of. After he set down the big 3 in order in the top of the 6th I thought for sure it was over for the Beechies. Middle and bottom of the lineup for BW stepped up big time in the 7th to tie it and set up the dramatic HR by Stringer for the lead.

Just a great game and fun to watch !!!

As I stated in the Cov Cath thread, the supporting cast is going to be the edge for Beechwood. Solid Players.

Great Job Tigers.

So the bomb is hit. Players are waiting around the plate for the hitter.

What did he do when he got to home plate?

Apparently missed it.

Boys have to learn to stand and circle the plate and wait for the step on before celebrating.

That wont happen again I'm sure.

That is the type of win that propels a team to a higher level. With "the others" in the lineup making the plays that got the win, that puts a lot of confidence into the entire team. Congratulations to the Tigers!

My exact thought walking to my car after the game.
