Who has said one thing about the kids? I am sure they would love the opportunity to shut the naysayers up, but they have a coach that is holding them back for the sake of his ego. Great kids over there, I think they would do great vs any schedule if given the chance. NCC is great football, but it's still 2a. Delphos St. John's is an AWESOME small school program in Ohio, but Moe isn't calling them to play. Moe took their lumps a couple years playing a brutal schedule, now they are reaping the rewards. I would equate Marksberry to Marvin Lewis on the pro level. He has rebuilt and gotten the program back to a nice level, but he has reached his pinnacle, and I think he knows that.

Those schools had nothing to do with the demise of Ryle. They are losing to everybody right now, even the mediocre 6a schools in NKY. No way to justify the schedule at SK, but guess the attitude on here is an indication of the genpop in Indy.

Could argue that all day. Athletes should always seek out someone better to play, thats how you improve. I would ask you, what good does playing 1 or 2a schools? All that does is stroke the ciaches ego, and makes the kids think they are better than they are, thus losing to inferior competition in the playoffs.

So, somehow what the program was like several years ago somehow justifies playing that joke of a schedule? Right now, they are the top 6a program in NKy (which equates to being the tallest "little person") so go play someone and prove you are more than just a product of shady scheduling. Highlands and Cov Cath both schedule across the river, and they are 4a. Ryle just finished a two year gig with Coleraine. Kudos to those coaches, they scheduled them probably knowing full well what the result would be. At least drop HC and New Cath and schedule the Birds and Colonels. What Marksberry is afraid of is being exposed, and the fine folks of Independence keep buying it hook line and sinker. He took one of his better teams over to UC a couple years ago, and came back with his tail between his legs when Middletown pasted them. Kind of like a B10 team in my eyes, you can look good hanging with your own, but step out and prove yourself once in a while.

No comparison between frosh baseball and travel. If they can play on a high level 13u team, much better off. Even if an 8th grader can make a JV team, I still go with 13u travel option. As an 8th grader, my son played in the Atlanta Braves spring training site, played in East Cobb, and at the battle of the south. Can't take those memories away.

On paper, you are right. To be the champ, you gotta beat the champ. Until the Tigers actually beat the Blue Colonels on the field, they are the favorite, IMO

You could just save a preview for Krumps and use it every year. They will play sound fundamental baseball. They will pitch well. Bunt a lot. Win a lot. District favorite. Could challenge for region.

You need to be able to discern talent vs interest level. Snider went through the motions vs SK, game was a complete no doubter from the opening tip. No disrespect to Nick, but there is a big gap in projectability.

I just have a very hard time when a kid flips, especially this close to signing day. Not sure what else GVSU has in this class, but to lose a QB the week of signing day is tough to overcome, and honestly could keep them from coming back to SK to look at kids.

Please don't take this the wrong way, but was the last sentence truly necessary? Not sure anyone is disagreeing on the grades piece. The fact that D1 schools do not offer full rides in baseball has been discussed ad nauseum, I can assure you we all know that. But, still, why is it that every wants to throw the negative stuff in? I promise you that every D1 college athlete has had many people tell them to give up on it, it will never happen, too long are the odds. It's my job as a parent to ensure all contingencies are in place. He is getting a great education at a great high school, I have no doubt his test scores are going to be great. What I refuse to do is crush what has been one of his goals since he was 8 years old, and that he has sacrificed so much for. When many kids are out with their friends on Friday night, he is at the indoor facility banging baseballs, and that is by his own choice. When his friends are going to Kings Island and the pool in the summer, he is on the road with his summer team playing baseball. He gets it, and I could not be more proud of him. If he quit tomorrow, I would be good with it, it's been a great ride, and I promise you kid would not regret one second of all the hours he has put in, nor would I. Hours in a car, singing at the top of our lungs. All the friends we have made. Priceless. You don't get that from sitting in a library, and it is very possible to have excellent grades and play sports.

Since we are on the academic kick, which I agree with 100% for those of you that have done it already at what age did your kids first take the ACT? I s there a magic # to look for? My son is getting looks at D1 level, and you are. spot on, mostly at the level of tuition at state schools in Ohio, i.e. they take care of tuition, I have everything else. It's early, so no academic money is known yet. I think that will be there from a GPA standpoint, but have heard conflicting numbers on the ACT side. Vary from school to school?

So, sounds like we found someone who didnt hit the genetic lottery, and has no clue what big time recruiting has become. This is a legit topic. Do you wait until your Junior year to start taking your grades serious?

If going on pitching alone, the staff of Suchanek, Combs, Stringer, Randolph, and Fieger is going to be tough to match. Their only variable will be the lineup in the 5 slot on. If Hamilton, Schmidt and Booth all hit the way they did in 2012, that team could be special.

Wondering same thing. FGCU is in same conference, albeit in Ft. Myers, so thats a bonus. Miami? MAC? I will take a trip to Jacksonville/Ft Myers over one to Bowling Green/Toledo. When I was a kid Wichita St was a top program. Not anymore. Seems like 25 loss seasons are the norm. The battle at NKU is getting past the commuter school rep it has. Still a ways to go. My point was that while many kids will say no, for them to not even ask is admitting defeat.

Going to be competition anywhere. With only 11.7 scholarships to give, baseball far less likely to stockpile talent.

Lets just say I have a close tie with one of the top local summer organizations. Phones atr ringing off the hook. Wichita State. Louisiana Monroe. FGCU, Miami, etc. Those schools are on same level, IMO. To my knowledge, nothing out of the Norse. I am not even talking about the headline kids, there are plenty on that team that would take a norse offer seriously.
