I know very little about how cross country or track is setup. Do the athletes times or how they place in events throughout the season have any bearing or qualify them for future events or their post season?

So, it sounds like you're in favor of someone or in this case, a team going out and working hard each and every day, week, month, etc. to earn everything they get and not have anything handed to them????

This all is so intriguing. Most everyone seems to agree that the right way for districts to be setup is to seed. Yet, when a couple schools chooses to vote against what most think are right, it's ok, because it's in their best interest. Then there's the thought, again by most, that agree the KHSAA should step in and mandate seeding. Of course that hasn't happened either. Now, back to the vote, which seems to be the biggest absurdity in all of this. A continued tie vote just results in simply leaving it the same. At least if the KHSAA is not going to step in and mandate seeding, they at least should deal with a tied vote. So after all of this, one of the other schools involved chooses to put forth a formal, peaceful means of protesting/boycotting these decisions or lack thereof, and they are the bad guys.

Can understand both perspectives. But it's hard to beat the excitement of having a 10th Region team compete for the championship. My personal favorite of recent years would be the Lofton led Royals.

Please explain in great detail. Leave nothing to opinions or assumptions, so we all can be better educated.

I agree with you. I also wish Bracken was playing Augusta and St Patrick. But I also understand Bracken supporters defending, not only their student athletes, but all the schools, student athletes, to have the equal opportunity to earn their position in the post season. While, I assume it is in the wording of the vote to require a majority to change it, it also seems fundamentally wrong for a continual split vote to result in simply leaving it the same without some interjection from the Association. As ridiculous and random as it seems, a split vote should at least result in alternating it.

It's been debated before, but if someone was to start a new thread about, should there be the traditional paper programs at the Sweet 16 or not, would you chime in? Perhaps stating why you think there should be? Maybe defending your stance? Or would that just be whining and crying?

Just curious Papa, if you were a member of the Association and this situation was voted on at that level, how would you vote?

As I stated in a much earlier post, I want to see both of these schools succeed, but this continued notion that Bracken is "taking their ball and going home" is nonsense. Them taking a stance to achieve the ability for ALL teams to have the equal opportunity to earn their position in the district tournament is not nearly as arrogant as saying "I'm doing what's best for me, the heck with the rest of you." One is suggesting equal opportunity, the other is not. History of teams success or forecasts of their future success or lack thereof should have no bearing on any of this.

Unfortunately, ones/fan bases, alliances to their respective schools and the emotions that go with that, along with recent history amongst these schools have gotten in the way of this being a productive debate. It's easy to say that , "since it's been this way, others have dealt with it, so leave it alone."But if the forementioned alliances and emotions were removed, it's hard to argue against the concept of each student-athlete from each school simply earning/competing for/playing their way into their position in the district tournament.

You may be absolutely correct. Since hydraman said the rankings were the coaches opinions, I'm surprised they got it so wrong.

Schwarber "shows up" and does the same things as the girls from Nicholas, Bracken and Harrison you mentioned.

With the exception of perhaps a couple on the list your point applies to all the rest on the list. Of course like you this is just my opinion.

Why should Schwarber be higher?

I believe there is a Behanan young lady that is a newcomer as well.
