It is already clear that the 10th is down this season. Early-season Campbell with an inexplicable loss to Bracken, Paris absolutely blitzed by said Camels. Clark and Mason inconsistent and hovering around .500, Scott falls to Holy Cross, giving the Indians their first win of the season. Traditionally strong squads like Harrison, Montgomery and Brossart on life support.

Here's my question.

Would you rather have the region down but competitive to the point than any of at least a half-dozen teams have a legitimate shot to go to Rupp (like last year)?

Or do you - like me - long for the days - and they weren't that long ago - of high-level teams like Mason, Clark and Brossart slugging it out and having a chance to make real noise at Rupp?

You know where I am. How about you?

Make this into a poll. I would prefer down but competitive. For some schools it is the first time they actually have a shot of going to Rupp. As a fan you look at all the scores of the region instead of the past Campbell, Mason, Montgomery juggernauts. And it makes for a better regional tournament having no idea who will win

Can understand both perspectives. But it's hard to beat the excitement of having a 10th Region team compete for the championship. My personal favorite of recent years would be the Lofton led Royals.

I think any region is great with 2-3 teams that can win it all. I would be mildly shocked if a 10th region team wins a game in the State Tourney this year, maybe a competitive draw, but not two game.

I'd rather have a competitive region with several teams in the mix. Makes all those regular season games fun to watch from a fan perspective. But I do see where having a dominant team that can compete for a state title being fun to watch for some as well.

You might have a team that will have a strong January, early Feb. But I think we will see an surprise winner of the 10th this year.
