  1. I have enjoyed reading the thread. I'm just saying that there is legitimately no way to get any semblance of a consensus on the topic. UK fans consider UK the "mecca" of all college hoops, while Alabama fans consider their school all that is holy in the collegiate gridiron. You had to start the thread knowing that you'd just rile up UK fans into an argument that they can't win. It's an argument you can't win either, though. That's all I'm saying.
  2. You know the only thing dumber than comparing teams in the same sport from different decades? Comparing entire sports programs from different schools in two different sports. Apples to oranges. They're both very good programs. Both sides should give it a rest. Sheesh.
  3. First one I remember watching was XXXII between the Broncos and Packers. First one I really REMEMBER was Rams and Titans.
  4. Not to mention how much Marshawn would be helped. A friend of mine were recently talking about fantasy football and Marshawn's 2012 outlook. We each laughed about how we thought he was like 32 years old, only to look it up and see he's a mere 25 years old. I think he'd benefit the most from a Peyton Manning arrival.
  5. In no particular order, here are 5 of my all-time favorites: V for Vendetta The Usual Suspects Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope Fight Club Shawshank Redemption
  6. A neat piece I found on numero uno and who brews it: http://www.usatoday.com/money/industries/food/2005-10-03-beer-usat_x.htm It's worth a read, IMO.
  7. Story of the game isn't the win. It's Anthony Davis leaving this game with a pulse.
  8. Lost is the butt of so many jokes, but I'll always be loyal. The ending was pretty wretched, I'll admit, but it was a pretty awesome show aside from the last episode.
  9. Michael Emerson makes this show tick. I love that guy -- have since I was first introduced to him on Lost.
  10. Easy for someone not affiliated with the organization and not a fan of the organization to say, but I'm interested to see how this plays out. Miracles happen.
  11. You think Irsay will attempt to get Manning to retire this year? I don't see Manning doing that unless it's health-related. Do you?
  12. What does the BluegrassPreps community have to say about the Colts' offseason moves? Also, here is an interesting article with Peyton talking about his future and the organization as he sees it now: http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/7496925/peyton-manning-talks-indianapolis-colts-changes-uncertain-future?eleven=twelve
  13. The best finale ever, IMO. Worth watching the whole series for it.
  14. Lost was a really poor ending, as was already mentioned.
  15. I retract my statement. I did not know you made that comment in jest.
  16. The Giants and Patriots have met 2 times since the Super Bowl. In those 3 games, Giants have won 2 and the Patriots have won 1. I think this game will be very close. If there's one thing that Eli and Co. is not, it's scared. They know that they can beat the Pats, and to insinuate there is no chance of them winning is silly.
  17. In my Public Economics course today, the vast majority of our lecture focused on normative (what the government should do) vs. positive analysis (what the government is doing). Anyway, we basically had a brief history lesson on the subject. My professor read a few excerpts from Adam Smith's Wealth of Nations (written in 1776), and how the sovereign bodies have three main duties. They have the duty: 1) to protect against invasion, 2) protect every member of society from injustices done to them by other members of society, 3) produce public goods. It seems every, single day that these politicians forget their role even more. This SOPA thing is a joke. I haven't heard one logical human being that I know cite one potentially beneficial byproduct of this bill. Get a grip on reality, Congress. My goodness.
  18. "The Aid Trap: Hard Truths About Ending Poverty" by Glenn Hubbard and William Duggin. If you have any interest in foreign trade/poverty economics, it's an awesome read. It is written by two of the best economists of our time, IMO.
  19. I wouldn't dare. :taz: is my best guess
  20. I think this thread got off topic a bit with some bigotry peppered in. I think the question isn't "Should classes like this be banned?" -- the question should be "Should classes like this be REQUIRED?" My answer to that is no -- too costly. While it would be nice for every student to learn about their rich histories, it just isn't plausible IMO.
  21. So from the perspective of "Christians," Jews and Muslims are going to "spend eternity in hell" because they don't acknowledge Christ as "savior"? Tell me if I'm misinterpreting something here, but I'm just seeing an old "if A equals B and B equals C" sort of transitive property in your statement, and I'd like to know if I correctly understood.
  22. I am 21 years old. I went to private, Catholic schools from the age of 5-18. I will say that I never once, in all of the years that I sat through (sometimes painful) religion classes heard any negative remarks about other faiths. There were a lot of lessons about the Protestant movement being a heresy of the Catholic Church, but that fact is not arguable, nor does it carry the negative connotation that the word "heresy" has come to acquire. In fact, Catholicism, in its own way is a heresy of the Jewish faith, just as much as Protestantism is a heresy of Catholicism. Anyway, Jim Schue, I have had similar experiences with different Protestant denominations and their view of Catholics. Those experiences are not of the same magnitude yours have been, however, and I'm sorry to hear about that. In response to the video and to how some have interpreted it, I just don't know. I think the man has a point. There has been a great deal of good that has come from organized religion, but for groups that claim they're following a deity that preaches love and whose "Golden Rule" was "Treat others as you'd want to be treated," they have certainly lost their way. I doubt you'd find me a so-called self-righteous man/woman who would be okay with me telling them about some of the atheistic thoughts/beliefs that I have. I mean the notion of God, to me, should be something that you come to yourself. Part of the reason I so dislike organized religion is because of the majority of its proponents and how they strike me. It gave me an incredible education, though.
  23. I've taken BIO 102. Very, very easy class. With Krupa, right? I hated his class and really thought he was a loser, but it was an easy A.
