  1. Lamb is 6'4'', which is pretty good size for a PG but too small for a prominent SG role, IMO. I see him having some serious trouble handling the ball in a PG spot/getting space with his current skill set to shoot. I just don't think he's at the stage in his career where he'd be an impact player in the NBA. That being said, I see him going, in addition to Jones, Kidd-Gilchrist, Teague, and Davis.
  2. I don't think I'm making too much of last year as much as you are making too much of this year. Just do this. Could you name me one division you'd rather play in? AFC East - Patriots, Jets AFC North - Steelers, Ravens AFC South - Texans, Colts AFC West - Chargers, Broncos NFC East - Eagles, Giants, Cowboys NFC North - Packers, Lions, Bears NFC South - Saints, Falcons NFC West - 49ers, Seahawks, Cardinals, Rams IMO, there are only 2 listed on the aforementioned that I'd think to myself, year in and year out, we have a very good shot of winning the division. Those two divisions happen to both be the west divisions of both conferences. Too many standouts in the other conferences. Regardless, the decision really is just between the AFC East and the NFC West, and surely we don't disagree that the NFC West is easier won?
  3. Clyde, UK does this frequently. My business statistics class claimed that its book was for UK purposes only. The only difference -- it cost $50 more and they took out the first 250 pages from the original print (yes I have actually looked up the original copy just to see how badly I got ripped off). 4. Called this in the other thread about Super Bowl winners, and I stand by it that they are legitimate Super Bowl contenders. This team doesn't pretend. They made a member of the "Elite 3 Pocket QBs" look dumbfounded for I would argue 3/4's of the game. If it wasn't for two 45-60 yard YAC, this wouldn't have even been a game.
  5. We found something we can agree on, amazingly.
  6. But why do that when history shows that it has absolutely no effect on postseason success? Kentucky has become arguably the greatest program in college basketball by being successful in the NCAA tournament. People remember who wins in March and April, not who plays the toughest non-conference schedule. It would be change for change's sake and, according to every fact I've found on the subject, would not lead to anymore success. There's no point.
  7. Kentucky should follow the path that leads to the best results. There is NOTHING that supports your argument other than your opinion that says that the path that leads to the most success is a brutal out of conference schedule filled with road games.
  8. Just for fun I looked up the schedules for every Final Four team of the past decade: 2011 UConn-1 (1 vs top 25) Butler-3 UK-2 (1 vs top 25) VCU-4 2010 Duke-1 Butler-4 West Virginia-3 (1 vs top 25) Michigan St.-3 (2 vs top 25) 2009 UNC-2 Michigan St.-1 UConn-2 (1 vs top 25) Villanova-2 2008 Kansas-3 (1 vs top 25) Memphis-1 UCLA-1 UNC-3 2007 Florida-2 OSU-2 (2 vs top 25) UCLA-0 Georgetown-3 (1 vs top 25) 2006 Florida-2 UCLA-1 LSU-2 George Mason-4 2005 UNC-1 Illinois-1 UL-2 Michigan St.-1 2004 UConn-2 (1 vs top 25) Georgia Tech-3 Duke-2 (1 vs top 25) Oklahoma St.-1 2003 Syracuse-0 Kansas-1 (1 vs top 25) Marquette-2 Texas-1 (1 vs top 25) 2002 Maryland-1 (1 vs top 25) Indiana-3 Kansas-4 (2 vs top 25) Oklahoma-2 (1 vs top 25) 79 road games from 40 seasons. Less than 2 per year. 17 vs ranked opponents. There may be a few extra or a few less (ESPN has neutral court games listed as home/away instead of listing them as neutral so I had to look at what arena each game was played at).
  9. AFC East -vs- NFC West. No reason to shake your head. Doubt a 53 year old NFL head coach cares too much about the Miami weather. Very simple. You put yourself in a position to win. Miami does not give him that. 2 factors, with one that's already been covered -- QB stability and 6 games against the weakest conference in the NFL -- you get 4 games against Arizona and Seattle. Does it get any better than that?
  10. 1, against Texas. We went through the past 10 national champions in a previous thread. Jim does not acknowledge that because it weakens his argument.
  11. I heard it loud and clear. It was just wrong.
  12. I honestly don't know. I just thought it was strange that the guy on the other side of the court gave it to him. I could be wrong, but I doubt that happens very often.
  13. http://espn.go.com/ncb/boxscore?gameId=320050098 Yes he did. He can't count to 6, but he can see something across the court to T somebody up.
  14. Where'd you go in the other thread Jim?
  15. I feel stupid quoting myself, but I would really like to see a response to this.
  16. Since this isn't about UK, it must mean that any team that hasn't won a national championship since 1998 hasn't done so because they played too soft of an out of conference schedule.
  17. Yea, I thought I remembered them playing Gonzaga in Maui and WVU in Vegas, but ESPN had them as road games. Not sure why. But contrary to your belief I did not intentionally do that. Based on that, there were probably less road games played by the national champions than I have listed. ESPN's mistakes aside, do you really consider Calipari leading UK to an elite eight and a final four in two years after inheriting an NIT team to be not working? I mean, the only argument that you've presented is that UK's method of scheduling isn't working, but it seems to be doing just fine. Do you honestly believe more out of conference road games would have lead to UK going farther than it did in either of those two seasons? Would UK have shot better than they did against WVU or would Brandon Knight have played a better game against UConn?
  18. You're putting words in my mouth. By the end of this season, UK will have had nine chances to overcome adversity. How many do they need? You obviously cannot go an entire season without playing any road games, but this argument is about scheduling out of conference, which has been shown by recent history to have no bearing on postseason success. What difference does it make if a game like this happens in the middle of December or in the middle of January?
  19. The 2001-2005 teams didn't have talent? Please. Those were the years that most of those games were played as well. And unless ESPN is wrong, I'm not. If your argument is that games against Lamar, Loyola, etc. aren't exactly the most entertaining things to watch in the world, no one would disagree, but to suggest that UK would have more success by simply scheduling more out of conference road games is completely unfounded.
  20. UK's out of conference road opponents from 2001-2010 (0 final fours during this time): Duke, Indiana X4, Gonzaga, North Carolina X4, Louisville X4, Marshall, UCLA, Michigan St, West Virginia, Georgia St., Kansas, Memphis, Houston. They played a lot of road games, and amazingly it didn't result in tourney success. You simply cannot make the argument that there is a correlation between how many out of conference road games you play and how far you go in March. The facts do not back it up in any way, shape, or form.
  21. So if UL would have played more out of conference road games this year they would have learned how to shoot? If what UK is doing now isn't working I'm sure most UK fans would take a whole lot of not working for the next decade. And they're emulating the Duke model because it works. History shows you don't need to play a bunch of out of conference road games against top-25 opponents to have success. Strictly in terms of success on the basketball court (which was what the original argument you made was), it doesn't matter how many out of conference road games you play. If more evidence than I provided shows that your stance on this is right, then I would agree that UK needs to look into scheduling more tough road games out of conference.
  22. If you want to look that up, be my guest. If you prove me wrong, I'll gladly admit it.
  23. So you don't think the 8-9 road games played in conference are enough (along with 1-3 OOC) to build the mental toughness you speak of? How many road games are needed for this to be accomplished?
  24. 2010-2011 Connecticut-1 OOC road game 2009-2010 Duke-1 OOC road game 2008-2009 UNC-4 OOC road games (3 of which against non-BCS schools, non against top 25) 2007-2008 Kansas-3 OOC road games 2006-2007 Florida-2 OOC road games (1 of which against was Florida A&M) 2005-2006 Florida-3 OOC road games 2004-2005 UNC-3 OOC road games 2003-2004 UConn-2 OOC road games 2002-2003 Syracuse-0 OOC road games 2001-2002 Maryland-1 OOC road game 10 years, 20 out of conference road games, 4 out of conference road games against ranked teams, 10 national championships.
