  1. Was lucky enough to come home from the University of Kentucky this weekend for this incredible football game. As a CCH grad, can't say I was too impressed with the turnout of the student section for the HHS-CCH rivalry game, and I can say the same for HHS. It seems like the cheering sections get thinner each game I attend (perhaps it's only my imagination?). Probably the best high school football game I've seen, since the year I was in the student section watching Bovard come down with the game-winner as time expired in Ft. Thomas. Not to sound like a broken record after the 65 times it's been mentioned on here, but Towles is incredible (I swear the kid looks like he takes 5 yard strides out there) and the CCH O-line/Gray combination is something in and of itself to watch. Superb display by both squads and one for the ages. Can't say I was happy or satisfied with a loss, but it sure felt great to see two quality, rivaling, football programs go head-to-head. Wirth is getting the Colonels back on track in the football department, certainly. Congrats to the Bluebirds. Hopefully, these two will meet again -- it'll be worth the trip home again.
  2. A battle for the #2 WR spot on my squad -- Kenny Britt v. Jacksonville Jeremy Maclin v. St. Louis Any help would be appreciated, as I view this as a legitimate toss-up.
  3. I like Stafford. Schaub has a less than impressive track record against the Colts if my memory serves me correctly. With Foster seeing less carries, the Colts D will no doubt bring some heat and drop to zone on passing downs. I really think Stafford is set to be a top 7-8 QB this year, health-willing. Go with him.
  4. 7. Cleveland 5. NY Jets 3. Chicago 2. Tampa Bay 1. Baltimore Tiebreaker - Tampa Bay
  5. Absolutely. It's just a shame. Fantasy football does make every Monday night game relevant, but still those games are just awful. Here's to Sunday nights I suppose.
  6. I was just glancing at this year's Monday Night Football schedule. Which games are you most looking forward to? I liked the non-divisional games from last year better, personally. Week 1) New England vs. Miami - Oakland vs. Denver Week 2) St. Louis vs. NY Giants Week 3) Washington vs. Dallas Week 4) Indianapolis vs. Tampa Bay Week 5) Chicago vs. Detroit Week 6) Miami vs. NY Jets Week 7) Baltimore vs. Jacksonville Week 8) San Diego vs. KC Chiefs Week 9) Chicago vs. Philadelphia Week 10) Minnesota vs. Green Bay Week 11) Kansas City vs. New England Week 12) NY Giants vs. New Orleans Week 13) San Diego vs. Jacksonville Week 14) St. Louis vs. Seattle Week 15) Pittsburgh vs. San Francisco Week 16) Atlanta vs. New Orleans I'd have to say weeks I most look forward to are 4, 8, 9, 10, 16. Besides those, the games just seem so-so. What say you?
  7. Doing a bit better than the Pirates at least. 10 straight is quite painful for them. They get the last laugh, though, I guess -- at least they have the Steelers come September :ohbrother:
  8. Indeed, they did. With the Redskins still picking up the tab on the majority of the money that they are paying Haynesworth (through bonuses, etc), I have to think the Patriots took a rather minor risk while picking up potential for enormous upside. NE defense is quite young, and this move makes them very, very dangerous. Old Bill and Robert Kraft up there in Foxborough strike again with another bold move that I predict will truly work out for them tremendously.
  9. Too much time wasted on hoping a Mike Brown run organization will 'turn it around.' Forget about it. I'm sure he's got some more convicts up his sleeves for bargain prices and a bunch of head cases failing to produce a cohesive unit. The best hope for the Bengals organization is that Palmer folds and comes back, playing Kitna for Dalton. An organization whose head of operations doesn't care if they win or lose is bound to disappoint and fail.
  10. I couldn't agree more that it is a sign of a mentally weak and dilapidated ball team when you can't win 2 straight in the last 27 game days. You just have to keep your fingers crossed that something will ignite a fire beneath these guys. 4 games back in a 4 team race is starting to look a little iffy. It'll be hard to root against 3 teams in the same division. I say give them til the end of July. If they fall beyond 3 games back at that time, they're out of it IMO.
  11. Sigh... The Reds are just playing poor baseball it seems. I haven't been able to keep up with them as much as I'd like with my work schedule often keeping me 'til upwards of nine o'clock. I, however, don't think I've been missing much of late. What a colossal disappointment this season has been so far. A Wainwright-less St. Louis sits 4 games ahead of the measly defending NL Central Champions. Perhaps the All-Star Break will provide some much needed 'turn-around time.'
  12. Great night to be at the ballpark. It was very nice to see the Reds' bats liven up in time for game two of the day. Didn't get to see the first one because of work, but the stat-line didn't look pretty. Heisey's three home runs were electric and had to be within 40 feet of each other in left field.
  13. Heisey is 6 years younger with a ton of upside. I say you stick with him. I still don't think that Heisey is utilized in the lineup as much as he should be, but that's just me.
  14. In front of a home crowd, you destroy one of the best young arms in the game from the plate only to give up 5 runs in the top of the 8th and claim yet another extra inning defeat. Yes, that sounds like the Reds of yore.
  15. A nice steal by Heisey, which allows Renteria's single on the successive pitch to score a run. Beautiful baseball by the Reds right there. 4-0.
  16. What a nice bunt by Heisey. I would love to see him in the lineup as an everyday man.
  17. Bailey looking nice through 2. It is early yet, but you have to like seeing him not affected by nerves this early in the game. Hopefully he'll keep it up.
  18. I am very interested to see how Dalton turns out for them. Can't wait to find out how he and AJ Green gel, along with whatever wide receivers the Bengals actually have come Week 1 (if there is a Week 1).
  19. I'm 2-2 on predictions of Reds' series so far. I said 1-2 in St. Louis and 2-1 in Milwaukee. Sad I was right about the first series and happy I was correct with the second one. 3-3 is not bad on that road trip, although I thought they could've easily been 4-2. Have a nice break 'til Friday. Let's hope Hanley, Gaby Sanchez, and Mike Stanton stay cool for the Marlins and they can take the series. I predict a 2-1 series over the Fish.
  20. I'm about to send in my letter of resignation if this streak of awful Red's play continues since my BGP inception. But thank you.
  21. Batter after batter after batter falling behind in a count.
  22. Very nice win. You have to love stealing a win when you're out-hit by division rivals in their park. 5 runs on 4 hits -- gotta love the scrappy win.
  23. This road trip will be interesting. I'll predict 3-3, going 1-2 in St. Louis and 2-1 in Milwaukee.
