  1. Congrats to Trimble for surviving a great Gallatin effort and getting the win! And to Gallatin on a fine season. To see where that team ended after the start they had was remarkable really. Getting a new coach just before the first game and going through a tough stretch of loses. They could have very easily packed it in early but they did not. Through perseverance, they ended up in regionals once again and put up an enormous fight to almost get a win. Those kids should be proud. Blessings to that group of Seniors.
  2. I want to give a shout out and a great big thank you to you gentlemen who did the internet broadcast. I didn't listen during the game, but it was nice to listen to it again on the long ride home. You all do a very good job! I will have my parents listening in on Friday as they will not be able to make the game.
  3. Very nice work by Walton Verona. Congrats to the players and staff for being ready to play and getting the win over a very good Anderson team. After Walton got a quick start, Anderson made some runs and got back in it behind the play and shooting of Kaci Currens. She is a heck of a player. Congrats to Anderson on a great season. I was frustrated to see these to draw a first round matchup as I thought both teams were able to play further than the first round.
  4. Congrats to Highlands on the win! And way to go Leigh, Coffey and Adler! I know there are other lady Birds to give a shout out to, but I love those Seniors! Great young ladies and families that have spent a TON of time in gyms. Happy to see them get some more. Lol. Keep working Birds!
  5. No way I am looking at Walton in the final at this point. No way at all. They will have their hands full with a very good Anderson County, the team that has knocked Walton out of regionals the last two years. It is a game Walton can very well win, but will need to play hard and well to do so. If they get that job done, then they would likely face Trimble, a team they beat twice this year, but not by a large margin. The final is a long, long way away.
  6. Congratulations to Ms Harris and her family! The Mid South Conference is great basketball. BYW... Lindsey-Wilson will be very good next year. They are good this year and have zero seniors in the roster.
  7. Sportsaholic Mamaw... With your reasoning, we should have a blind draw for the state tournament as well. :lol2::lol2::lol2::banghead: I mean all those kids in the 5th region with Etown work so hard on all. And so many of them have not had the chance to enjoy that activity in the last few years. We just want more kids involved. :ohbrother:
  8. Wow. Murray only won by 14. Shocking. I am being a bit sarcastic here...Murray is very, very good.
  9. I am well aware of the youngest Ms. Jones. I have shot around with her and have even thrown a couple shooting tips and encouragement her way in the past. Stupid me :idunno: But her dad has thrown much more coaching my daughters way so I've still got the best end of the deal. :lol2:
  10. Pioneer Pride. There is no shame in seeing your team get beat by a good basketball team playing great basketball. Besides, God is good all the time, and life does not revolve around basketball. :thumb:
  11. Agreed. She makes the machine go. And when players on the perimeter hit threes when defenses focus on her, it makes SK all the more dangerous.
  12. Congrats to the Pioneers on a WELL played game. In my opinion, the huge difference maker was the way SK shot the three in the first half. Multiple players finding net on about every attempt they made in the first half. It was a bombardment. I have no idea, but it seemed that SK shot like 70-80 percent from downtown in the first half...maybe better:eek: In comparison, with Walton missing all of their first 7 or 8 three attempts, the game got away from them in a hurry. Walton had some good looks with the defense collapsing or double teaming Ison, but they just would not fall. If SK shoots like that on the perimeter, added to Niece doing her thing, and Meier in the paint, they will be very tough to beat. I was proud of my Bearcats how they came out in the third and played much better, and shots started falling. They did not lay down after taking one on the chin in the first half. Lord willing, they will get another swing at the 'neers in the regional final, but there are some good teams they will have to beat to get there so it may not happen. Lets give a huge shout out to the STUDENT-athletes that were given 32nd district academic honors... Abby Jones - Simon Kenton Zoe Lubbe - Walton-Verona Emma Rodgers - Walton-Verona Hailey Ison - Walton-Verona Olivia DeZarn - Walton-Verona Morgan Simpson - Walton Verona Rachel Montgomery - Williamstown
  13. Fair enough. And I was just feeding the underdog the gunpowder.
  14. Exactly what I like to hear. I hope that is the sentiment throughout.
  15. Agreed! Great job Lady Crusaders! Way to keep working and overcome.
  16. Congratulations! Hope there are many more to come at IWU!
  17. Got it. Since its extremely rare see a T for ball spiking during live play, I have just never seen it. Never learned that one yet. And since the official can, then he is allowed and permitted to interpret and judge what he sees as being T worthy or not. Correct?
  18. This was the most absurd situation I have ever seen at a high school game. It was almost like the official was angry that the kid was so elated. I am sure that was not the case, but FORCING a call into a situation that was over sure made it look like it. I do have a question. Even if there was still time on the clock, can this type of technical be called during live play anyway? I have only seen technicals for ball slamming during dead balls, never during live play. It seems if one ever made a hard bounce pass then you could get a T.
  19. This might prove the ninth is deeper, or more competitive through the middle, and I will not disagree with that. I did disagree with the plug in of all 5 of those mentioned earlier as automatic region champs in the 8th. Because I have no beef over the depth of the regions, I only put my picks/opinions of 3 of the top 4 games. At best, it is split, but I really think the a Ryle/Anderson game would be a dandy...I couldn't pick one.
  20. Stop. I had no reason to get into the conversation here, until the bolded popped up on my screen...:ohbrother: Ryle...yes Holmes...yes Highlands...probably ND...nope Holy Cross...nope I understand all the rootin and tootin over who thinks their region is the best. That's cool, but lets not exaggerate. Anderson County, Shelby County, and Walton Verona are solid ball teams.... Anderson County beat Holmes this year and played common opponents closer than Highlands did. Walton was tied at SK with 33 second left until a controversial intentional foul was called against Walton. And Shelby County is right there with them.
