  1. LB is not at his post. Lol. I got your back bro Tied at 7 with 4:25 to play
  2. LB. That emoji says it all on the three ball stat line. Geez. Could not buy one. But congrats to the Bearcats for finding a way to win. Survive and advance.
  3. When in doubt, just go with E'town. :loll: But I guess you couldn't get away with that in the thread title. As per Jason Frakes tweets... Etown was up 17-8 at the end of the first. Boley had 11 including 3 treys. At the half Etown was up 28-17. Toledo Rogers goes on a run in the third to take the lead, but Boley hits a bucket in the final seconds to give Etown a 38-37 lead at the end of 3. Etown had the ball down 3 with 27 seconds left but comes up short in the end. According to J Frakes Toledo Rogers has four NCAA D1 signees. Boley had 25 points and 11 rebounds in Etowns second loss of season, both to out of state teams.
  4. After reading this thread (before it turned weird), I can't help but share a cool memory. Maybe around 5-6 years ago, I was at a small "AAU" type tournament that was held at Georgetown College. My daughters AAU/travel team would sometimes play in small tournaments like this one for opportunities to get better and Georgetown was pretty close. RCC9 remembers them well, as he would take his team to the same tournament. That year, there was a younger team playing up that consisted of a group of girls from Mason County. They were a crazy good group of girls. Usually teams made up from players from the same school did not fare well in any of these tournaments, but these girls held their own playing up that weekend. I remember when my daughters team played them, most of us parents were amazed that these kids went to school together. The young Mason girls would lose that game to a very good and older BCK Firebirds team, but they held their own and didn't make it easy. The cool thing is that Brianna Adler was on the Firebird team, probably hitting threes that day to help beat them. I am sure none of those girls probably imagined they would be getting after it years later in a big varsity game. I remember talking to some of the Mason county girls' parents and we all told them that the Lady Royals were going to be darn good in a few years. They did not disappoint.
  5. Congratulations E. Schultz! Thomas More is getting another good one!
  6. Another nice regional win for Collins in the month of January. Congrats Titans.
  7. By Terry Boehmker NKyTribune sports reporter Walton-Verona senior forwards Morgan Simpson and Hailey Ison scored a combined total of 51 points in their team’s 60-48 win over Trimble County in the championship game of the girls’ 8th Region All “A” Classic on Friday at Owen County High School. Simpson made all seven of her 3-point attempts and finished with 23 points. Ison’s final stat line was 28 points, 11 rebounds and seven assists. In the first half, Simpson hit five treys and scored 17 points to spark the Bearcats, who opened up a 37-24 lead against the defending regional champs. “She hit her first couple shots and we starting running screens for her,” said Walton-Verona head coach Mark Clinkenbeard. “We got ahead by a good margin and everything just fell into place from there.” Simpson was named most valuable player on the regional all-tournament team. The Bearcats’ other all-tournament selections were Ison, sophomore guard Rachel Lehkamp and senior guard Emma Rodgers. The last time Walton-Verona won the 8th Region All “A” Classic title was 2012 and that team went on to win the small-school state tournament. The Bearcats’ first-round opponent in this year’s state tournament will be the winner of the 6th Region that will be played this week.
  8. Final from Owen County High School. This game started out like two heavy weights going at it. Between the electric environment of a packed house of Raider and Bearcat fans and the very efficient play of both teams, the first quarter was flat out awesome to watch. By the end of the half, Walton Verona was able to take a 13 point lead into halftime. Through the third, the teams pretty much swapped baskets although Walton would build the lead to around 16. The fourth quarter Walton would milk the lead as much as possible trying to shorten the game and hit free throws. Trimble was led by Mila Consley with 15. Walton did not have much of an answer for her in the post once she got the ball on the block. Walton was led by Hailey Ison's 28 points, however the HUGE story of the night was the tournament's MVP, Morgan Simpson. She goes 7 for 7 from 3 point range and finishes with her jersey number, 23. That was fun to watch. She was in a zone. Congrats to the Bearcats on the win and blessings on them as they represent the 8th in Frankfort. I cannot say enough how much respect I have for the Trimble County coaches and players. They are truly a class act on and off the court. Even after a loss and in the toughest moments, they display the highest character and what matters most after basketball is done and gone. Here is a pic of the highlight of the night led by Trimble County players....
  9. Very nice couple of weeks for this young lady. Congratulations...again! It is well deserved.
  10. You are correct. Trimble jumped out big time on Gallatin and was able to outlast a late Gallatin push. I left with a minute and a half left and Trimble was up 12 or 14. As per the KHSAA scoreboard, the final score was 44-34. Walton won the first game over Carroll County 65-45. Walton was led by Morgan Simpson with 20. Hailey Ison had 19. Trimble and Walton square off in the final Friday evening at 7pm.
  11. Martin finished with 26 pts, 6 rebounds, 4 blocks, 4 steals, and 2 assist. I saw a tweet put out by Kentucky Premier on Monday 1/11 announcing that Justus Martin had committed to Georgetown College. She joins other 8th region top players who have committed to Gtown in Kaci Currens (Anderson County) and Hailey Ison (Walton-Verona).
  12. Yikes! That would have been fun to watch. Incredible work.
  13. I thought both teams were a little loose with the ball in the first half. It seemed like Walton was able to clean it up a little in the second half and became more effecient.
  14. A box score was put up sometime today on the Enquirer's website. Walton-Verona 68, Boone County 54 Boone (9-4) - Saner 5 2 15, Foster 5 3 14, Hensley 2 2 7, Anderson 3 1 7, Bonner 2 1 5, Hirn 0 2 2, Gieske 1 0 2, Travis 0 1 1, Wilmes 0 1 1. Totals: 18 14 54. Walton-Verona (11-3) - Ison 9 14 34, Simpson 4 7 17, Rodgers 2 0 5, Lehkamp 1 3 5, Anderson 2 0 4, Poore 0 2 2, Perry 0 1 1. Totals: 18 27 68. Halftime: Walton-Verona 25-21. 3-pointers: B 4 (Saner 2, Foster, Hensley); W 5 (Ison 2, Simpson 2, Rodgers).
  15. Final from Walton on Saturday evening. Walton-Verona gets back in the win column after a loss to Highlands earlier this week with the victory over Boone County. Boone was hindered by early foul trouble on Kayla Saner, who had to sit most of the first half. This helped Walton go into halftime with a 3 point lead. Saner, who can shoot the rock, was somewhat limited in the second half as Walton did a good job keeping tabs on her. I could not find a box score this morning to see what she finished with, but Boone's Sydney Foster played well leading the Rebels. As per the Walton Verona Athletics Twitter feed, Hailey Ison led all scorers with 34. Morgan Simpson finished with 17. Great job by the two Bearcat Seniors. Boone goes to 9-4 on the season and Walton moves to 11-4.
  16. Congrats on a great accomplishment. And great for her for getting it done in the classroom!!
  17. WOW! WOW! WOW! :lol2: Thanks LB for the updates. :thumb: I was in the basement painting, and checking my phone as best I could without getting paint on it. Great win for the Breds!
