  1. If a layup is legal, then a euro step is legal. Its that simple. In the girls basketball forum, we went down this road a couple of years ago and Clyde was super helpful. The end result is, if done right, it is legal, but many referees call it a walk just because it "looks funny". There is nothing you can do about it. If it gets called a walk, then the player has to adjust and do it no longer.
  2. Fair enough Big Zig. I'll keep an eye out. :thumb: I don't know all Conner's players like I used to, but I know they have some talent. I am sure that the mid and late season Cougars will be far better than the pre and early version I saw.
  3. I've read enough. Time to chime in. I'm with RCC9 on this one. Right now, I'd go with Highlands over Conner. Wherever you want to rank Conner, I'd put Highlands over them. My why... 1. In the wake of Senior losses for both, Highlands returns (or puts on the floor) more varsity experience at key positions and roles. One of them being point guard. I think Conner's loss of Gambrel is a HUGE hole to fill and will take time to do it, while Highlands filled the loss of Coffey with a senior DII bound, Martin. 2. From what I saw, neither team has a strong post presence so it is not like either team is going to have an advantage over the other in the paint. Basically, all guard play. I give that advantage slightly to Highlands 3. I recently watched Conner scrimmage and here is what I saw... When they pressed, they got points off of turnovers. (Against a team that early in the season may struggle against pressing capable teams) However, when they stopped pressing and depended more on a half court offense to score, they struggled. Lots of turnovers and not very efficient. Their scoring slowed down noticeably. I know it was an early scrimmage, but there was clearly more work to be done. With their athletic personnel, they can get rich against teams with suspect guards and ball handling, but finding offense when they can't depend on the press, I think will take time to develop. I give the edge to Highlands right now if both teams have to come out of the press and play half court.
  4. Great job Bearcats! I was not there, but was told that WV gets the win in the final seconds off a baseline inbound play that finished with a bucket by Lehkamp. Its a great start to the season at 2-0. The road is certainly going to get more tough, but I couldn't be more proud of these young Bearcats.
  5. Great job young man! Congrats to you and your family!
  6. Yes, Mark has had to step down due to a very serious medical condition. I apologize, but I don't feel free to give even little details that I know. I will only say that he is doing better, and should be fine, but not fine enough to continue coaching at this point. I will add that, Mark and his family are very loved...they are tremendous people. I cannot express how thankful I am for what they do in the community and what Mark has been to the players and parents at Walton. He was a very big part of a tremendous high school experience for my oldest daughter. He is a great coach and an even better person that is passionate about the game, but more passionate about his players. My wife and I will always be grateful for Mark, his wife and his family! Any prayers that could be given for them and for Mark would be highly appreciated! He certainly has got some healing and recovery to be done still and a transition to get through.
  7. Walton played great passionate football. Proud of their effort! Congrats to all of them on a great season. Congrats Indians on the win. They found a way when Walton was making it very tough. I give credit to their defense for keeping Walton from converting any of their 4 takeaways and keeping it a one score ball game.
  8. WV field goal attempt for the tie is blocked. HC ball. 4:04 to play
  9. WV with a big return on the kick off. All the way to the HC 31.
  10. Bearcats unable to convert two HC turnovers. Still 10-7 end of the 3rd.
  11. Walton has done a decent job limiting HC ground game. I guess they wanted to mix it up a little.
  12. WOW. WOW. WOW! HC fumble on next play after missed wv field goal. Walton recovers.
  13. Bearcats interception. Second take away of the game for WV.
  14. According to WV Athletics Twitter feed, the final was 37-7. Bearcats on top.
  15. Congratulations Autumn!! Asbury is a great school and our family wishes you the best!
  16. Congratulations to Marlee and her family! Tremendous young lady that plays crazy hard! Had the opportunity to get to know her just a bit when my daughter played ball with her last summer. Her and her family are great people!
  17. Congrats Taylor Gambrel!!! Very proud of you and Thomas More is getting a great young lady!
  18. I thought the same thing. I also snicker at the "greener grass" suggestion that there is never any "drama" in a private school.
