  1. Clinkenbeard with a bucket at the buzzer. Walton leads 29-21 at the half.
  2. Wait a minute! RCC9, in all those Gametime vs BCK games, do you remember that one sideline inbound play the Firebirds use to run against man to man, where they put all the players at or above the top of the key leaving the paint and basket area open? They inbounded to a post player out front on the ball side, then they would screen for the guard that inbounded the ball and cut directly to the basket. It was like a quick give and go, and the defender guarding the inbounder, never saw the screen coming. It usually ended in a layup or and one...as long as the other team hadn't seen it a few times. I'll take that one with Lexi inbounding the ball! And man, those were fun days.
  3. Perhaps whoever gets the best draw. Your right, its very open.
  4. EXACTLY! It is so much easier to locate and guard a stationary, unscreened, out of bounds player, who is passing the ball out of her hands. To me it's like putting Lexi in right field in little league. :ohbrother:
  5. I got your back. Rest of the Raiders 16. :thumb: Congrats to the Lady Raiders on the win and wishing them another great run in regionals.
  6. Fair enough. But to be clear though, I was not mentioning this as a specific problem in the game against Conner. I was just raising the question in general since both times I have seen Cooper this year, they have done this same thing every time, baseline and sideline, early and late. Yes. Your right on the inbounder/unguarded thing. But every time? It still doesn't help me to justify every time, in every situation. And that alone doesn't help the basic struggle I have with it. And yes, I remember that one time you mentioned and that was the problem for me. It was one time. I also understand her skills to get the ball inbounded, but I don't want to always automatically trade in her skills and ability to make a positive play on the floor, just to get the ball passed inbounds. It's not like Cooper is void of players with the ability to inbound. In fact, I think they have some great options for that, and it would free Lexi to be on the floor for inbound sets. (At least every know and then). I guess my overall struggle with it is this. Time and time again coaches do things defensively to get the ball out of dangerous players hands (double team, face guard, etc). And we all know why...the ball in their hands is dangerous. I just believe when Cooper religiously uses Lexi to inbound the ball, it makes the opposing defense and coaches job a little easier. If I am an opposing teams coach, I am thanking you for always putting the ball in play out of her hands. Also, if Lexi is never mixed in or used as a weapon "inbounds" on inbound sets, then that is less I have to prepare for. I do get your points though and I agree with them to a degree. Certainly, her inbounding the ball at times is justified by your points, but your points don't help me justify every time, every situation, and from every place on the floor. Would it help Cooper if Lexi was at times on the receiving end of inbound plays/sets? Maybe that is the question I am asking and I honestly cannot answer "no" to that question.
  7. Congrats to all the Cougar players, Coach Stamm and staff on the win! And congrats to Cooper on getting into regionals! Your season isn't over Jags so keep working. Wishing the best for both teams going into regionals. That tournament should be a dandy with maybe 4 teams that could win it. The draw is going to be huge. Few thoughts from the game... 1. I had not seen Conner play since back in preseason, and I must say what a difference the season has made for that young talented group. That first time I saw them, they were sloppy with no leader. Last night, they looked like a well oiled machine with all the parts in the right place. Hats off to the coaches and players on all the work they put in. There is no guarantee it always will, but last night, it paid off. 2. When Cooper got close, Conner got rattled, turned the ball over, and gave Cooper the oppurtunity to take their first lead with a minute or so left. Things didn't look good at all for Conner. I thought Coach Stamm did a great job of reeling his team in, getting them to focus, and settle down. Just about the moment the last thread was coming unraveled, they found a way and someone to make a play or two for the win. It was great coaching of young players in that timely moment that appeared to make a major difference and save the total meltdown. 3. This may seem silly, or maybe show my ignorance, but can someone tell me why Coopers coach would always have Lexi Held inbound the ball? I understand every now and then for whatever you are trying to do, but if it is me, there are going to be important times that I want the ball inbounded into her hands. There is something that seems fundamentally wrong to me in having a player of her caliber pass the ball out of her hands in late close game situations. Isn't that what defenses will do at times...double team dangerous players to make them pass the ball to someone else? I don't know, maybe there is something I am missing and someone can help me out.
  8. The 2012-13 season. They lost to grant County in the first round. It was the last time districts were at Williamstown four years ago.
  9. Agreed. It was a very good game. And Lexi Held can absolutely play. I know someone may object but I believe she is the best overall player in an extended NKY area. Anytime a girl scores at will off of the dribble from about anywhere against Holmes defense tells you something. Not to mention how she plays defense. She is capable of dropping 30, then guarding the other teams best and fastest. Rarely was a Holmes player able to get by her or score on her. The girl can create, score, shoot, and plays great defense. Her length gets all kinds of tips and steals. Love watching her play the game.
  10. Holmes takes it to the rack and it does not fall. Overtime.
  11. Very good game so far. Holmes up 55-52. Coop Ball with 15.6 sec left. Out of timeout a deep Held three is money. Ties it up at 55. Timeout Holmes. 7.2 sec left.
  12. Holmes played an awful first half. Their effort was very questionable. Campbell's discipline and fundamentals shredded them. In the second half, you could clearly see a different Holmes team. When those girls play hard and put the effort in defensively, my goodness they can make good teams look bad.
  13. In fact, Cooper has a very nice team as well. They are 5-1 in District . If cooper's road is tough out of the district, then Ryle and Conners road is just as tough.
  14. Nice to see LB at his All A post. Man he got good seats! Now let's go Bearcats!
  15. Congrats to a great ball player! And I agree with everyone else, stay healthy and go get 2000 and more.
  16. Congrats on a tremendous achievement, and a blessed career! May the buckets keep falling and counting this season and for years to come.
  17. My daughter's AAU/Summer ball coach of 4 years would run this regularly coming out of the half if their team had possession arrow. It almost always worked, unless it was a team that they had played previously and had been victimized by it before. Even then, at times, it would still work. It was uncanny how successful it was. He would always communicate something to the referees just before the end of half. I never heard exactly, but from what I understand, it was as wireman said, letting them know they knew what direction they were going and that they did not need a "reminder" that would give it away. Until now, I had never seen another team run it. It was pretty cool, brought back a lot of fun memories seeing the other coaches and players faces.
  18. Congrats to the Cougars on a very nice win! Campbell is always a tough and well coached team. Watching Conner scrimmage in preseason, you could tell they had a lot of talent. It was just kind of wreck less, without a leader. A lot of rushed, bad decisions with turnovers and still a work in progress. Kudos to the coaches and players for getting it done and putting a nice early season win in the books.
  19. I may try to catch the birds Thursday at Dub V, since they'll be in my neck of the woods. RCC9, I assume you will be there?
