I don't believe so either. Especially if there is a teaching position that might be tied to the Scott job. Based on my experience, I wouldn't expect the Scott job to get filled until after the first of the year.

I was never a fan of Andy Griffith. It was way before my time, but I had the opportunity to watch it while growing in syndication. I always preferred I Dream of Jeannie, Hogan's Heroes, Gomer Pyle reruns. But as far as the best/2nd best, I'd say Cheers and Friends, with Everybody Loves Raymond in the mix. Nothing wrong with the others, but as a child of the 70's and 80's those were what was in my wheelhouse. I can't forget to mention Sandford and Son...I still get big laughs out of that show.

I've had it for about 3 years..I switched when they picked up NFL Sunday Ticket. It is a solid service. But in the time I've had it, the price has gone from $54.99 to $82.99...basically a 60% jump. It's still cheaper than what I was paying for basic TV service, but I suspect the price will keep rising.

Bill Schwartz followed Ken Mueller. Ken retired at the end of 2015. Bill was the AD for 2 or 3 years, so as I think about it, Fro was more than likely Schwartz's first hire because his first year was 2106/2017 when Scott went to the final 4. I think Casey's first big hire was Eric Turner when Woolley stepped down, and then Kevin Goins for Baseball, when Jeff Trame retired.

Fro was Casey Fisk's first hire as AD if I remember correctly.

Rivers didn't exactly set the world on fire, but he was far from the reason the Colts lost. I think it's a great story. I don't expect the fairy tale ending, and it's just as likely to get much worse next week as it is for him to be better. I know you brough Jarmarcus up as a joke, but there's no comparing Jamarcus with Rivers. Rivers is a possible hall of famer, and Jamarcus is, well, one of the biggest busts ever. This late in the season, and considering who else is out there, I don't know that Rivers isn't the best option, especially with his familiarity with the offense the run in Indy. Sure there are guys like Tannehill, Nick Foles, or Matt Ryan available, but they don't really excite me either.

I guess if your QB never lines up under center, maybe I can see why you would just stay in shotgun for victory formation. But that's really something you should practice. I can't imagine as a coach being not able to line up with my QB under center. Still, knowing the time out situation, you've gotta run plays instead of just kneeling, even if it's just QB power or handing it to your most sure handed player. Field position and time are your enemies, and if you can't kill the time because the other team as time outs, you've gotta at least try to improve your field position. But the way so many things went wrong all at once, maybe it just wasn't meant to be for Shaw. Literally everything that could have went wrong did, although they pretty much were the victim of their own mistakes.

That is really hard, if not impossible, to do at D1 level as both sports require extensive offseason work. Even at lower levels, it's really hard to do. Too much time, too much sports-specific training, and classroom time (academically and athletically).....it is a tall task even if your talented enough to excel at both sports at that level.

Sort of the same stuff you heard about Tebow. Different circumstances, but it's still easy to find people who believe Tebow never got a fair shot, and that the league wanted him to fail.

Juan Samuel was actually a really exciting player to watch, and not nearly as bad as this stat would make him out to be. He was electric on the basepaths, and a triples machine while he was in Philly. He really only had two bad defensive years, one where he had over 30 errors, and another when he had over 20. And some of his errors were due to the fact that he had great range and got to a lot of balls. Unfortunately he never made the step to superstardom, and just bounced around the league for a few different teams and was done by age 31. He was one of my favorite players in the late 80's.

It's a little easier to recruit when you're recruiting for Ohio State in a state that has some of the best high school football talent in the country. Recruiting for Kentucky in a state that doesn't have a ton of home grown for a lower tier SEC school will be a much tougher task.

So true. No one has ever become an experienced HC without being a first time HC at some point in time. And surrounding yourself with the right people has to happen whether you're experienced or not.

I wouldn't call a school that size massive. Yes it's big for Kentucky, but in many places it wouldn't be considered all that unusual in size.

Middle school championships ultimately don’t mean that much. Winning the NKMSAA championship is nice. But in the grand scheme of things it’s not that strong of a league. Campbell has won a bunch of those titles over the years. And kids come and go, grow/stop growing, that a lot changes between 8th grade and varsity football.

I get that it worked for Rocky against Ivan Drago. But that was in the 80's. Many schools they are competing with have much nicer, larger weight room set ups. That's not necessarily what's holding them back, but they could certainly use an upgrade in that area.

This is a big issue. Despite how nice the facilities are, for some reason the weight room seems to have been an afterthought. They basically just moved what they previously into a smaller space when they built the indoor facility. It's not adequate for 20 kids, let alone multiple teams. Especially in the spring, when baseball, softball, and football are all trying to use it.

Age is just a number. Everyone keeps coming back to Scott "needing a young guy"...my point is that you need to be more worried about getting the "right guy". I wasn't implying that late 40's was old.....just that it didn't fit the mold of a 20 or 30 something guy.

Obviously that’s not old. But he wasn’t a 20 or 30 something either, and had a couple previous jobs under his belt. My point is your first order of business is to get the right guy. Putting yourself in a box based on age, head coaching experience or any other “necessity” will limit your choices. Age should be the least of your concerns.

An older guy worked with Dave Campbell (he was in his late 40's I think) when they were in an even worse position. He was an experienced guy, in the middle of (and what turned out to be the end) of his head coaching career. I don't think young guys own the high energy/ability to turn programs around. The right guy is the right guy regardless of how old he is.

Anybody who gets the job will need a longer leash. It can turnaround, but will take more than a year or two.

He's only 26, but he was the first name I thought of when I saw the job was open. I don't know if he'll apply, and based on history, I don't know that he's "experienced" enough for Scott to seriously consider him. But having coached him, and coached with him, I think he'd be a solid choice. He's going to be a head coach someday, somewhere.

Everybody is different. I just don't watch that much ESPN outside of Monday night football. 25 years ago, it was a different story, as I watched ESPN daily. For a long time, I didn't mind paying money for access to a ton of content and not using all that much of it. Now, I'm paying even more, and using it less. I'm not quite there yet. but there are very few channels I need, especially when I can stream stuff after the fact. I still love sports, but I just don't watch much anymore outside of NFL and MLB. A lot of that is because I work nights and at least one day on the weekend, so I really can't really watch much live sports anyway.

$30 a month is pretty steep for me. The main sports I watch are NFL and MLB and I have subscriptions for both, which isn't cheap. I'm getting closer and closer to just a la carte tv viewing. I rarely watch shows live, and there's enough out there to keep me entertained without paying an arm and a leg for the convenience of watching stuff first run. I probably only consume about 1% of all the TV that I'm paying for.

Dan left mostly for family reasons. He and his wife had a couple young kids, and if you know Dan he's an all in kind of guy, and made the decision to step away from being a head coach to get more family time. SK is close to where he lives. I'm not sure if he even coached last year after Lucas stepped down and Wynn took over at SK. Knowing how much he loves football, I'm not sure that he'd done coaching, but I also don't think he'd ever go back to Scott. I think that ship sailed for him a long time ago. He certainly didn't leave on bad terms, and I wouldn't be surprised if they called him. But without having any inside information, it's just my opinion that I don't think he'd jump back in at Scott. And I don't think it would be a good idea for Scott to pursue him. I think they need to hit the reset button, and do a hard reboot.
