Colonels_Wear_Blue Posted March 4, 2025 Author Posted March 4, 2025 NFL quarterback/placekicker George Blanda played professional football in 4 decades. Starting with the Chicago Bears in 1949, he played for the Bears for one season before being traded to the Baltimore Colts in the following off-season. He was cut by the Colts after the first game of the 1950 season and returned to the Bears roster the following week. Blanda retired for the 1959 season after the Bears owner/head coach George "Papa Bear" Halas insisted only on using him as a kicker. He returned to professional football in 1960 in te AFL playing quarterback for the Houston Oilers, where he played through the 1966 season. He was released by the Oilers following the 1966 season and was signed by the Oakland Raiders, where he played the remaining 9 seasons of his career. At the time of his retirement after the 1975 season, Blanda held NFL records for most interceptions thrown (277 - broken by Brett Favre in 2007), most games played (340 - broken by Morten Anderson in 2004), most consecutive games played (242 - broken by Jim Marshall in 1976), and career scoring record (2,002 - broken by Gary Anderson in 2000). He still holds the NFL record for most points scored by a player who was not exclusively a kicker, and he is one of only 20 players to play all ten years of the AFL. Colonels_Wear_Blue Posted March 4, 2025 Author Posted March 4, 2025 The two oldest current NFL records are only four years shy of being a century old. Both records were set in one game by Chicago Cardinals fullback Ernie Nevers, who had 6 rushing touchdowns and 4 PATs for the Cardinals in their 40-6 win over the Chicago Bears on November 28, 1929. He holds the single game records for most rushing touchdowns (6) and most points scored (40).

PP1 Posted April 8, 2025 Posted April 8, 2025 From 1984-1987, Juan Samuel led the NL in errors, strike-outs, and times caught stealing. Kind of like his own triple crown. 1 2
PP1 Posted April 8, 2025 Posted April 8, 2025 Bryan Caruso, an independent league player, is the only person in recorded baseball history to ever get out three times in the same inning. He made the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd out. I do recall Chris Heisey making the first two outs of an inning for the Reds in 2012. I wanted the Reds to bat around again just to give hm a shot. 2 1
Tranquility Base Posted April 9, 2025 Posted April 9, 2025 Cardinal Hall of Famer Stan Musial ended his career with 3630 hits. 1815 at home, 1815 on the road. 4
mcpapa Posted May 16, 2025 Posted May 16, 2025 One of those records that hark back to another time and will never be broken. Connie Mack managed the As for 50 consecutive seasons. 3
