  1. I think the Highlands district is coupled with the Boyle/Lexcath Distirct. This means the looser of the Boyle/Lexcath game will more than likelly see Highlands in the second round. The winner should see them in the third round. Reguardless, Highlands should have to go through both Lexcath and Boyle in some order, prior to the state semi's. I think Highlands is the favorite, but this will be a tougher route than they have seen the last few years.
  2. As a close friend of the family, I would like to be the first to congratulate Will on this great accomplishment. The opportunities this will open for you in the future are tremendous. Great job and good luck.
  3. This seems to be a game for players who do not yet have plans for next year. Notable ommisions with colege plans set would include Lamar Dawson (undecided) Conner Hemple (Harvard) Zack West (Kentucky) Will Whitman (Harvard) Darrien Miller would be the most notable exception (Kentucky)
  4. Scribe, I'm not saying this is not a legitimate question, it is. What I am saying is one reason BGP has become an increasingly heavely weighted Northern Ky site is due to the fact if you say anything negative concerning Highlands (not much negative IMO), you will be publicly ridiculed as ignorant. With this sort of response waiting, many just leave the site which leads to an even more Northern KY weighted situation.
  5. This thread is a great example as to why BGP has turned into a Northern Ky only site. Highlands is a great program and deserves the ranking they have. However, on BGP you will be ridiculed if you state anything otherwise. There was a thread last week asking why BGP diversity has diminished (it went away), this thread is the best answer.
  6. Lets be honest. Highlands has a GREAT GREAT program. Teams in Ky (other than T and X) fear them. They have achieved this status through much hard work and dedication by the community and coaches. You can't take anything away from them. With that said, maybe Highlands enrolment numbers need to be adjusted up in order to account for the open enrolment policy of northern KY. They have developed a program that is soo capible of taking advantage of this policy that they have an advantage over other programs of similar size. Maybe the KHSAA needs to consider local policies in the classing system.
  7. Do you think a Lex Cath/Public rivalry might bring some excitement back to Lexington Football? It could be a great atmosphere game with an outstanding gate and virtually no travel expenses. With Lex Cath down, they could replace Trinity and St X with two city schools and everybody be a winner.
  8. This is simple. Lexington has become a baseball town. South Lex and Southeastern Little Leagues are getiing kids in baseball early and champions baseball is keeping them year round. Just look at last years high school rankings, I think something like half the top ten were from the 11th region. An earlier post said "is one or two players enough to reduce the level of a program". Without a doubt it is.
  9. Lex Cath had a very balance attack against Whitley. They have an emerging super star in Kyle Bolin (Soph QB), who has the advantage of what may be a very very good offensive line. If they can run the ball, and they should with thier o-line, their passing game will be superb. See them putting up big points. Defense is where the extreme youth comes in. 5 soph. 4 jr, 2 sr start on defense. If Cov Cath can keep Lex Cath defense on the field, they may be able to tire the young guys. IMO Cov Cath will need to score 40 plus points to keep game close and/or win.
  10. Community interest in a program leads to a greater degree of anticipation and general excitement. This in turn leads to greater numbers and kids that stay more ingaged in thier sport and thus work harder. More kids that work harder leads to success. Pretty simple.
  11. Hoop Dreams with Mike Smith, Morton, Trigg, Mcfarland, won 15U state championship this year.
  12. 6'8" Whitman - Lexington Catholic has to be on this list. Should start on very fine LC team. Great hands, very good quickness at 6'8", can shoot the three and a beast rebounder, still growing.
  13. last year might a very good LCA team liked to have seen how they compared with the higher classes?
  14. Last year might have produced Highlands vs St X also. I think Highlands would have loved it.
