Is Fayette County Football considerably worse than usual?

Featured Replies

We can include Scott County in this discussion and just call in the 11th region. :D

Henry Clay is down, Scott County doesn't look so hot, LexCath looks way down.

What is it with Fayette County Football? Is this a hangover from the Fayette County Flu that hit a few years back?

LCA is down too.

There must be a Clause for all of this. :D

Tates Creek is the best looking of them all at this point of the season.

I was thinking the same thing but didn't have the lowdown to start a thread. Lex 6A has very rarely been good, IMO.....not trying to be hateful...just stating my opinion.

I agree 800% FCF is rarely any good to begin with and 2010 looks to be one of the worst years ever.

It is a bit odd that all the 11th region schools are down in football it seems, but as for Fayette Co, basketball and football in the school system is ran very poorly. I'm not saying anything against the coaches but the rules are strict and its just hard to be successful IMO.

No argument here. I do not think Lexington has recovered from the dilution of adding 3 more high schools to the city (Dunbar, LCA, Catholic). With Catholic and LCA getting better over the years more and more players went there, combined with the fact that not as many kids play football anymore. With that said Lafayette lost its starting QB in preseason, Clay has been without V Miller and C Gardner, Dunbar and Station don't have much, LCA lost it's core group and Catholic's best players are underclassmen, less the LT.

Tates Creek seems like they are the class of the county this year. It will be interesting to see how they play out the rest of the year. Harmon has never been known as a playoff coach, though, so it may be early curtains for Fayette County in November.

By the way, I'm not sure if you count George Rogers Clark in the discussion (they are close:D), but the Cardinals seem pretty solid.

Iwanted to put the same thing, but felt I would sound like a homer....

We play most of the Lexington schools, and Tates Creek and Henry Clay is in our district. Pre-season we were ranked 3rd in our district, behind Henry Clay and Tates Creek. Will be interesting to see how it all plays out.

I keep hearing that Fayette County will be annexing Winchester one of these days.:D

I don't have an answer for the big-school football mediocrity in Fayette. Do LCA and LC siphon off enough players to make a huge difference? Or would just a skill player here and there be enough to make a significant difference?

Soccer. LYSA and the other youth organizations in Fayette and surrounding counties are very strong and a lot of kids stay with soccer in high school.

Clark County is looking really good. Whipped Bryan Station in the opener and doubled up Montgomery County this week. Last year Clark beat Henry Clay (who had 5 turnovers), Lafayette (who went up 10-0 then blanked in the 2nd half), and Tates Creek (in a monsoon) but lost to Dunbar...? They appear to have a speed guy or two, but after watching the Station film seem simply like a solid cohesive unit on both sides. IMO neither Clark nor Tates Creek has faced real competition as of yet. If Scott County is actually down this year (0-2), then the next real game for both may not be until October 15th when they play each other. (no disrespect intended to Dunbar, West Jessamine who is avg 50 pts, and Madison Central)

In defense of Harmon, Creek has been in very rough shape for awhile, he has done wonders with this group in his 3rd year. Had same type of turnaround success at Lafayette. Playoffs....we will see, lots of games left.

Any ideas on what would improve football in the Lexington area?
