You'd hope. To be honest, after seeing them play quite lethargic against Tates Creek last weekend, and not with as much intensity as you'd hope against Lafayette earlier this week I really didn't know if Lex Cath would stay in this game tonight. However you could tell early on from Natalie Novosel that last year's loss to LCA didn't sit well with her and the team overall really responded well in the clutch.

It was a pretty good girl's basketball game tonight. Natalie Novosel proved why she is one of the state's best players tonight by driving at will to the basket against LCA and scoring or drawing the foul. If she can improve just a bit on her free throw percentage she will be even more of a threat. Lex Cath overall played good team ball with all sorts of players making big plays tonight including a huge shooting performance in the clutch from Danielle Corbin (really not sure on spelling). Even the steal with 30 seconds or so left that was taken for a layup to make the lead six was just huge. As for LCA, they have some girls that can straight up shoot the ball. Couple that with a pretty good sized big girl and their overall team leader Anna Martin and both teams were impressive for girl's basketball. Natalie Novosel has the maturity, strength, and skills to do a lot on the basketball court but Anna Martin is definately close to as good and probably has a better jumper. Im not sure what went on in Lex Cath's game against Dunbar besides what other people said to me, however from the looks of this game I'd say they are starting to figure a few things out. Lex Cath is a good ball team and can compete with anybody however they have to bring the type of intensity they had tonight to every game they play. I have seen three games this year and this game was by far the most dominant I've seen from Novosel all year.

NKY/Louisville "Super" Bowl
I agree, I wouldn't suggest Bluegrasspreps being the main sponsor. As great as the site is and everything, its probably not on the corporate sponsorship plane of a Papa Johns or some other companies. Still, I think it would be great to have it mentioned or thrown in on event name. Something such as an Alltel Bluegrasspreps Bowl (an example obviously). Course it could just be the (corporate sponsor's name) Who's The Boss KY/GCL Border Battle.

Lexington Catholic 75 Tates Creek 54
Can't wait for the 5/3 to see if Lex Cath is really as dominant as they are playing right now or not. Either way, it seems that the Cov Cath loss really got this team going.

NKY/Louisville "Super" Bowl
Could this whole thing just get the Bluegrasspreps name somehow attached to it, TheGuru willing? That would be a pretty cool way to show that this site has really come of age since the early days to what it is now.....

NKY/Louisville "Super" Bowl
Man, this is hypothetical and I already want Lex Cath's name to be thrown in here as a potential team at some point. Knowing Lex Cath they wouldn't turn it down. It could be either a battle of top Kentucky teams from different regions or just keep the top couple of Kentucky teams and challenge them against GCL teams with at least Highlands being considered an opponent against Trinity or St. X a few times.

Lexington Catholic 67 Simeon(IL) 56
I saw that as well. It looked like in one website I saw that Simeon was ranked the #1 preseason Chicago team but you wonder how much of that is from last year with Rose leading their team. Anyways, still a good win for the Knights as they continue to get things going. You have to figure with football ending and the Knights getting at least Corvin back that they'll begin to improve more as they add an athletic ball handler to the mix.

Mr. Kentucky....post season......what say you?
Its tough for a defensive player to be a huge Mr. Football candidate usually but shouldn't Winston Guy, who not only was impressive this year on defense but also had a pretty solid offensive year also, be considered a very viable candidate for this award? I mean heck, he even committed to UK which is usually the be all end all of this discussion.

Bob Sphire - North Gwinnett HS (Ga.) LIVE Webcast
Pretty impressive to see that in only his second year as Head Coach at North Gwinnett Sphire has already lead the program to the championship game of one of the largest classes for Georgia High School Football. Its funny to see that another three of his assistant coaches were with him when I was at Lex Cath. Good luck to all these guys.

Lone Oak, what is the deal?
Haha, not to laugh at your expense titletownclown but that was pretty darn funny.

Lexington Catholic 49 Lone Oak 7
Yeah, I know, but still, what ever class Lex Cath has to be in to be paired with those two would okay with me. I may have never won a state title while playing at Lex Cath but it was still enjoyable as heck going up against Boyle Co., Cov Cath, and Highlands to try and win a region title each year.
-
Lexington Catholic 49 Lone Oak 7
Well I am a Lex Cath alum and I'd consider myself somewhat a fan and trust me. We'd take our lumps from Cov Cath and Highlands, but we'd also deliver some occassionally also and the state championships would be much sweeter. Besides a tough Bell Co. team this playoff was a cake walk. Point being, what really did the six classes prove? That the good teams are still going to be there at the top? Besides Lone Oak what team is a surprise this year? I just don't like it and probably never will.

Lexington Catholic 49 Lone Oak 7
Its great that Lex Cath won the state 4A championship and all but I really hope they make the jump to 5A sometime. If they were never to win another state championship again, it would still be better as long as they were consistently competing with Highlands and Cov Cath.

Lone Oak/LexCath 4A Championship Updates
49-7. Knights win their second State Title. Congrats guys.

Lone Oak/LexCath 4A Championship Updates
Bummer, after reading the predictions thread, nobody, not even people predicting a blow out thought the Knights would shut out Lone Oak and they were only 4 minutes from doing it.

Lone Oak/LexCath 4A Championship Updates
Definately doesn't help them. The kid isn't bad or doesn't sound like he is having necessarily a horrible game, he just doesn't have the protection around him to do anything.

Lone Oak/LexCath 4A Championship Updates
This is pretty tough for Lone Oak. No offense to them, they had a great year this season and still have a whole nother half of football to come however the fact still remains, Lex Cath has more depth, more speed, more size, and will continue to bring pressure as much as they can. I never want to claim a blowout should or would occur but unless Lone Oak can stop the Knights offense and find some holes in their defense this game isn't going to get much prettier.

Paul Dunbar 44 Lexington Catholic 36
The talent at Lex Cath is definately starting to thin while other schools are beginning to become stronger. One factor I'd say that contributes to this is that one of Lex Cath's strongest program builder's used to be its middle school and aau program. However, in years past, many girls with talent have been run off because certain powers to be wanted other girls to be the stars. Now you are seeing teams like Lex Christian really benefit from some of those girls who got run off.

Paul Dunbar 44 Lexington Catholic 36
From what people, Catholic supporters, said of this game, Dunbar first off played good and definately BEAT Lex Cath tonight. That being said, Lex Cath did not play a good game at all and missed many shots that were uncontested or in close with little pressure. Still, from seeing Lex Cath play Tates Creek tonight, I can definately believe that if you pressure the Lady Knights and really make them work for baskets that they will struggle some. Green and Novosel are great players and there is a limited but strong group of supporting cast however the Lady Knights don't have the traditional shooter who can drift along the arc and just shoot the jay whenever. The Lady Knights also don't seem to always display a strong drive or desire that was present in the past. They need to wake up some and realize that teams aren't just gonna lay down for them because of what they did in years past. Congrats to Dunbar, this is a big win for that program.

Lexington Catholic vs Lone Oak 4A State Championship Predictions
I'd have to second Poppabear here. Not many of the people commenting on this game and saying it should be a blowout are Lex Cath fans. This is the State Championship game, if anybody really expects the Knights to come out not expecting a tough game than they are crazy. Lex Cath will come ready to play. Whether it is a walk in the park or not will only be determined when the game has been played out but I fully expect Lone Oak to bring all they can.

Lexington Catholic vs Lone Oak 4A State Championship Predictions
Not sure about that but from everything I've heard they aren't bad. Still I'd say that 2005 team was maybe just a bit better. Its also hard to knock a few of the older teams from 1998 or so. Those teams had size that few Catholic teams have ever demonstrated since. Course, only the 2005 team and this year's team made it all the way to the state title.

Lexington Catholic vs Lone Oak 4A State Championship Predictions
With all due respect firstregionking, the Knights will have speed and it will be better than a lot of teams you'll ever see. Lexington Catholic will still have to prove they can beat a unique and prolific passing game next weekend but I'd say Lone Oak needs to look at short out routes and tosses to the backfield because when it comes to the Knight secondary you will see some good cover speed. Still, look for a good game. Lone Oak's own defense will be the real key here. Lexington Catholic has multiple options that can help the team put up points. Good luck to both teams. This one isn't over till its been played and truely over. Also, im tickled by the tradition comment. I know Lex Cath has become a staple in top teams in Kentucky talks over the past ten years but the program is only about 17 years old or less if I remember correctly. The tradition still has plenty of room to grow.

Hensley Rating System ALL Classes (Playoff Week #3) RESULTS
Only three games went differently than you had them and to be honest the P'burg-Desales one was practically a tie in your picks. The Lex Cath one, it makes sense to have Bell as the favorite with a perfect record and home field advantage. The Meade Co. game therefore is the only one with a glaring wrong pick. Frankly, I don't think many people initially had Meade winning this one, or at least winning this one by as much as they did. Pretty nice rankings statman.

Lexington Catholic 35 Bell County 16 (4A)
So what is the stats on this one? How did Lex Cath do offensively in terms of running and passing? I know Israel had a TD or two but I know one was on a two yard run to finish off Winston Guy's long return.

Lexington Catholic 35 Bell County 16 (4A)
Pretty big win for the Knights and Coach Letton. It doesn't mean they have a 4A title wrapped up by any means but it definately helps to have cleared out what many people think was the biggest hurdle standing in their way. Sounds like the Knights faired well in their first visit to Log Mountain.
