They stumbled out of the blocks last year, but they were young with 14 new starters, including the QB and 5 of the 6 O-line. In fact, quarterback Ben Lawler was new to the team and had just started learning Scott County's wing-t offense 7-8 weeks earlier. Scott Co started to click during the Henry Clay game but needed to get turnovers under control. Then they went on the 10 game win streak with some big margins. Scott Co and Simon Kenton will be a good game!

Scott County has 7 returning starters on each side of the ball, and their 2010 wins were by a large enough margin that most of the new starters saw a lot of varsity play time last year. Their RBs will be solid, and the OL will be bigger than last year. They have passing QB with a big arm, so they need a go-to WR with some moves. The LBs and DBs will be solid, too. The key on defense will be filling the open DT and DE spots with size and speed.

Evander Harris is an outstanding receiver, too.

First, congratulations to everyone that made this and other top player listings. Two of these are good examples that not every college football player makes every list. Whitman will still be playing at Harvard next year and West at UK despite not making the AP list. So congratulations also to the top players that didn't make all the "lists". If you have the size and the skill to play college ball keep pursuing your dream.

Will's athleticism and academics are matched by his great character. Harvard was smart to grab him.

For those of you not holding a grudge, the Scott Co coach said this is one of the best defenses he's coached. Their D-line has size and the LBs/DBs are quick. Their defense can handle speed. Plus, 80% of Willmott's kickoffs go into or through the endzone, which neutralizes the speed threat on returns. Regarding "too run oriented", lots of defenses have made that mistake this year. Scott Co has 4 or 5 RBs that can move the chains, but about one-third of Scott Co's yards are in the air. Lawler completes 70% of his passes, averaging 20+ yards each and hasn't thrown an interception in the last 8 games...and he can run. He's already being recruited by several D1 schools. Male is a good team and it should be a great game.

Scott Co wins by 14. Their senior kicker consistently pins offenses back on or inside the 20. Their starting D should hold Male to 14 or less, and Scott Co offense has too many weapons to contain, both rushing and passing.

Trinity will get beat by someone at some point. Every great team/program always does. Ryle has a good shot at being that team with home field advantage and some big wins in the last month. Friday night can't get here soon enough.

There was an 'illegal batting' call against Henderson late in the game which resulted in a loss of down--don't think I've ever heard of that penalty before. Please explain. What is "illegal batting"?

Not Blake Green. Jerry Williams was the QB for the first 5 or 6 games and Vinny Miller was at WR. Vinny was moved to QB when Jerry got hurt and they kept Vinny there. You can't say one is the "best" because they are both great atheletes and in the Scout Top 10 for their respective grade. Both good kids off the field as well!

I agree completely; coach is at fault if he didn't instruct the kid to take a knee as soon as the clock ran out. You can't count a 16-18 year old player always knowing how the rules apply in uncommon situations like this.

Lafayette's last three losses were all to very good teams: Heny Clay, Boyle Co and Scott Co. Lafayette should play well enough to beat Meade by 7-14.

Scott County is firing on all cylinders now - running, passing, defense and special teams. All starters are health and they are very focused. SC will be hard to stop.

This will be a good game and the best defense that night will win the game. Both teams can put points on the board, but HC's offense has been the more explosive in the last 3 or 4 games. HC by 7.
