  1. Around the country? I'm interested to hear this name.
  2. I have heard that they are not planning on picking their candidates till next week. I've heard Tony Wise from Frankfort. 21-9 season at Frankfort is a HECK of a year...heard he was interested in it last time too. Sounds like they missed out on a good year of coaching by Wise.
  3. Why are there not more people talking about this kid? I saw him at KBA AAU last summer and all thru the state tournament....I was impressed! Like his game, big strong kid with skills.
  4. I was hoping for those people from each region to post their own.
  5. In looking at the Gene Lowe All Star game they say they tout the top 6players in each region. I am interested in hearing if these players are reflective of the top players in each of these regions... I follow the 11th quite a bit and the players I know of are Tamron Manning (Scott Co) Isiah Ivey (Scott Co) Taylor Barnette (Lex Christian) Jay Johnson (Woodford Co) Dominique Hawkins (Madison Central) I know there are couple kids from Henry Clay, Bryan Station, and TC but not sure of the names.
  6. Lexington Catholic jumped out to a huge first quarter lead at 23 to 4 and it seemed to be the difference. Experience proved to be the difference as well, after Woodford settled down they played even the rest of the game. Woodford missed layups and 3's throughout this stretch. Catholic capitalized on turnovers and took a 20 point lead into the half. But Woodford came out with a flurry and cut the lead to 12 four minutes into the 3rd. The Yellow Jackets played extremely hard and made it a game. The Knights were just too much and held onto the lead and won by 14. The Jackets had a GREAT year finishing up 20-10 with a 41st district championship, and semi-finalist in the tough 11th region tournament. Good news...they don't lose anyone next year so keep them on your radar.
  7. Great win for Central...believe they would have won it if they had gone to overtime anyways. BUT, just saw it on the news, he was clearly on the line. Still a HUGE shot.
  8. You never know this time of year especially with a 1-game win or go home format. You never know!
  9. Nikeman49 you have kept us up to date all year....what's the deal?
  10. Timmons was VERY good. He needs to learn how to go left...if he could he would be unstoppable or more unstoppable. I think the key to the game was Hamilton getting in foul trouble. When he wasn't in the game then they weren't nearly as good.
  11. If Western Hills makes FT's they win this game! Franklin County tried to give it to them.
  12. Scott County had a player named Bud Mackey that was also very well mannered, Yes Sir, No Sir everytime you talked to him but now he's in jail on drug, gun, assault, and escape charges. Was a very similar player to Beckham...I sure hope Beckham learns from his lessons. It sounds like he's heading down that similar road tho...
  13. Great road win for the visiting Yellow Jackets. Woodford and Mercer came out and played hard from tip to finish, Mercer jumped to an early lead but with Johnson in foul trouble the Woodford County battled back to even the score at half. Greenwell had 23 and Johnson 18 for Woodford and Lee had 23 for Mercer. Cinnamon for the Indians had a tough shooting night only chipping in 10, credit Woodford's defense for that!
  14. This one surprises me after Christian beat Scott County. Maybe Lafayette is getting it together?!
  15. The difference in the game was the 1st quarter. Jackets came out ready to play. Give credit to Harrison for fighting back into the game with some sharp shooting from the corners. I see Harrison being a regional contender in a couple of years. Didn't Harrison Freshman win the region last year? Big game Saturday for the Yellow Jackets versus district favorite, Frankfort. Game starts at 8:15 at Woodford...I'll be there!
  16. The game will be @ Woodford County Girl/Boy Double Header at 6:30/8:15pm.
  17. This was a wild one! Back and forth throughout the overtimes...Monroe is a VERY nice player and never gets out of control. Woodford had a couple of shots at it in the overtimes to win it but it took 3 overtimes for this one to end. Jay Johnson had 27 points, 18 rebounds, and 6 blocks. Gross added 16 and Greenwell had 15. Not a good shooting night for the Yellow Jackets, must have been a long emotional week with district games vs. Western Hills and Franklin County. All in all good win for the boys and there is a huge game next Friday vs. Frankfort.
  18. District game in the 41st. Woodford went into Western Hills and was tied at half-time, Jackets came out to play in the second half. As I was walking out with my family I overheard this from a referee to another, "Jay Johnson is the best player in the 11th region and I have seen them all." I agree...he has a good cast around him as well and isn't afraid to get them all involved.
  19. Dixie has some really good players...was impressed with how they handled the ball and controlled tempo. I believe they have a Zeke kid that is about 6'6'' that is very heady. Should be a good one to watch.
  20. If the game was meaningless why are you so upset? Just an observation.
  21. What are some of your thoughts on this game? Western Hills won the last battle 68-55 versus Frankfort. Frankfort has really posted some good wins and has improved over the Christmas break. I say this will be a close one but I'm going with the home team, Frankfort 68-62.
