  1. No scholarship the first year. He went on partial the last three years. As a D1 athlete though, you don't have much opportunity to work to help fund your own education. A lot of debt was accumulated the first year.
  2. I agree. But my point is that there are a lot of scholarship players who don't see the field by their sophomore year. If this kid is good enough to to be playing and starting by his sophomore year, why wasn't he offered one in the first place? No doubt this kid has worked hard to get where he is. However, I have heard Schlarman's rhetoric about why my nephew wasn't good enough to play in the SEC. End of conversation right? Wrong. Kept asking if he was coming to camp. kept visiting school to watch practices. Kept asking if he had any offers. His words were not consistent with his actions.
  3. In my view, an athlete that is getting significant playing time and still not on scholarship is exploitative. I have a nephew who was on partial scholarship in another sport at UK and he graduated with 60K in student debt. I believe the SEC team share in television revenue was something like 27 million $.
  4. Is he on scholarship yet?
  5. This thread title should have read "Who at Kentucky could start for Moeller" !!!!
  6. I saw Moe two years ago against Trinity. I believe , and I may be mistaken, that T comes here to play Moe this year. Moe's varsity was like looking at a college team. Kids playing HS ball in NKy are for the most part, still kids. Those playing for Moe were men. They were physically more mature and more developed than kids playing in NKy. I can only imagine what their practices might be like. If T and Moe play here on on a Saturday, I will catch them again. On that note, you are comparing 17 and 18 year old kids with 19 year old men. Picture the kids playing now in two years more developed and then compare.
  7. Why would someone leave Ft. Thomas for Independence? Football can't be the motivator here.
  8. Courier Journal Story : Manual running back Michael Nero out for the season
  9. Are KY teams that play in Ohio still subject to KHSAA regulation? If OHSAA has a different heat index restriction, what is applicable?
  10. Are you a Ryle supporter by chance? I cannot speak for certain about this particular game, but generally speaking SK has 50 - 60 kids playing freshman ball and there are typically no two way players. In fact, many positions are shared. Heard Ryle used only 15 kids against Lex Cath. If that is true, I'd say parent revolt is in order.
  11. After watching Drew Moore last week, I put 8 in the box if I'm BW and make him pass the ball. I believe there are two NKy 6A teams better than Beechwood and if Dixie cannot win this game, they will be battling Ryle to stay out of the basement.
  12. SK only became a competitive program in 2008. Before that, SK football was insignificant.
  13. South Oldham will be tough, tough tough.
  14. I don't believe so. But what was unimaginable 6 years ago ................
  15. That's strange. Dillon Powell had about 150 yds rushing in the one game he played, yet he is omitted from this list. Can't blame it on SK not reporting because they have two other players on this list.
  16. Dixie dominated Cooper in that scrimmage. Given Cooper's results and Dixie's , I'm beginning to believe this is a down year for HS football in NKy for anyone not in Park Hills.
  17. Every OL prospect in KY needs to pay attention to Drake Jackson's recruitment. With so many FBS offenses going to up tempo spread offenses, the athletic demands for OL (and every position) are escalating rapidly. 5 - 8 years ago your could be 325 lb OL with elite LOS blocking skills and expect to draw a lot of FBS interest. No more. The OL being recruited now are lighter and way more athletic than before. 5.4 40 and 4.6 shuttle times are expected. Don't expect much interest at all if you are over 300 lb. You are now expected to execute blocks 15 - 20 yds from the LOS. The only exceptions I have seen are in programs that still run power running offenses. Wisconsin and Stanford are two of the exceptions I have noticed.
  18. Generally true, but sometimes an elite athlete or two can mask some of the poor play.
  19. Cov Cath could move into #1 with a LOSS.
  20. Barring injury, I believe Boone will be better than both by District season. Dixie did not compete against Cov Cath. Highlands had 250 yds in penalties against CC.
  21. If its true that starters are quitting for Connor ............. SK may not get a quality opponent until the playoffs!
  22. Are you referring to Conner or SK here?
